HK SL8-1, 5.56mm 🎖️ | Accuracy Testing & Results

German engineering excellence. This early production HK SL8-1 rifle with its 20" cold hammer forged, chrome lined, heavy profile barrel is the most accurate self-loading rifle I have.
Despite having all the features/traits that often parroted to be factors that will lead to an inaccurate rifle, such as having a chrome lined barrel, plastic receiver, plastic trigger, plastic optic rail, and being piston operated, the accuracy of this SL8 is on par with or even beating out some MK12 Mod0 and Mod1 clones my friends and myself have (Bartlein, Krieger, and Douglas barrels).
FYI, the video doesn't capture all the 10rd groups I've shot. I picked out what is best representative for a specific ammo type shown in the video. I also believe 10rd group is the best method to test rifle accuracy since I've tried 20rd groups in my other guns as well and it was very similar to 10rd groups. I can't say the same for 3rd or 5rd groups.
And yes, like we all know the gun/barrel will have preferences. Also yes, I can't possibly afford ALL the available ammo out there to test out especially for a non-sponsored individual like myself and for a 100% non-monetized channel.

Thanks for demonstrating a lot of the gun lore are totally wrong... FNC/Sig disproves that long strokes can't be accurate, Hellion/SL8 disproves it about plastic receivers, AUG/Hellion about it for bullpups. And all this without even a high magnification scopes.

Thank you for the kind words. Exactly correct on why I'm doing these videos on these guns.
Plenty of people without actual hands-on experience parroting so much misinformation/disinformation. It is also depressing to see how there are so many owners of these guns blindly listening to what others say when they have all the opportunities to test their own guns to disprove those misinformation.
Sort of related but I also hate seeing people cherry picking their 3rd or 5rd groups and say their rifles are "1MOA or better all day long". Also not a fan of people saying "rifle shoots better than me" and imply the gun is accurate but without any evidence of it doing that.

Yeah never understood that phrase. "The rifle will outshoot you." On the surface, it's basically a meaningless truism because no human can shoot a gun without introducing extra variables and increasing variance. Working on top of that they basically fallaciously imply that the gun is now infinitely more accurate because the human can always work to be a more accurate shooter and therefore the rifle can also become indefinitely more accurate.
It's basically the Zeno's paradoxes but applied to shooting

I have the sl8 as well and it’s the goat. Ugly goat but I kinda like the ergonomic

An excellent rifle, and as for the H&K G36, an excellent combat rifle, this is a stupid insinuation about inaccuracy, complete nonsense, given that thermodynamics is relevant for all weapons, these are elementary laws of physics.
