Reaching because of limited attention spans. Those games take time and patience. Operation and Simon might be the exceptions. Those two are quick and fun to play.
@@bigdog3300 yes! My 9 yr old is autistic and gets over stimulated soooo fast and sometimes it's hard to get him to want to take a break and he REALLY needs to. This could actually help extend our time enjoying the con. Last year he lasted an hour before we had to book...and we were practically dragging him out!
As a mother of an autistic child who can fry his circuits faster than Sonic racing through Green Valley on flashing lights, sounds, and a massive room full of people all talking at once, I think a quiet corner with board games is the BEST. IDEA. EVER. Sometimes, we all just need to sit, unplug, and let the con digest a bit. I know my son would greatly appreciate the alternative when he wants to just go, go, go and we know it's either a break or a massive meltdown (and sadly sometimes both). Riff, if you're reading this comment, this would be an excellent addition for So Cal! We would definitely be behind it!
Owning a retail business is tough and takes a LOT of capital. Even if you’re making 50% margin on reselling these trade in boxes, just thinking about how long it takes to sell all the inventory gives me anxiety.
The board games are a great idea and with the low cost of them, if they end up incomplete, it might be alright. Perhaps covering the tables with the game boards and some plastics would help shield them from initial destruction
At my wedding reception, we had a different classic game at every table. Simple enough to play throughout the evening. Everyone had a great time and someone from each table took the game home.
Use angle brackets screwed from the inside with some short coarse thread screws and glue. You could also get a few small pieces of new particle board and reinforce it on the inside. More surface area for glue. Staples work best in that stuff.
It would be awesome to see some type of merch available for international fans that can't attend. Would love to be able to pick up a signed poster or something!
That gameboy cabinet looks like MDF (basically just compressed wood fibre). It would definitely be worth taking all the covers off that if you can, get some new MDF panels cut and screw the covers back on. It would look mint
I do arcade vending machine repair. I know a quick fix using Wood Hardener For the brittle parts & Bondo automotive body filler to fill in and fix the missing wood where the screws failed. Then sand it smooth. Can be or primed & painted when dry if desired.
I agree on the display that you don't want to mess with it much when it's all original. But honestly, that MDF in the bottom is rotten. Once it's in that condition you will never fix it. Pull the rotten out carefully and replace it with new material.
Oh my god I’m shocked that you guys aren’t that far from my fiancé’s place. Also I love hearing the music from Chrono Trigger! It’s one of my favorite games of all time! Maybe I will come check you guys out in a month or so when I come to see my fiancé.
Save that GB Display! If you do arcade repair you would know of a quick fix is to use some Wood Hardener for the flaky parts & then Bondo Automotive Body filler to spread & fill in and fix the missing wood where the screws are falling out, then sand it smooth when dry.
From someone who works on old arcade cabinets, you should get a bottle of wood hardener. You soak that water damaged board with it that’s loose and chipping away and it will make it more structurally sound and a lot easier to work with then glue it up. It will have a better surface to bond to doing it like that.
Rule of Rose took a big price hit recently as cases of brand new copies were found in Italy pretty much from the original 505 games developer, most were or so I believe UK Pal we're it got banned upon release so not sure if these copies will affect the US ntsc price, I think the English pal versions are still £250 on ebay from Italy.
Good idea Michael a mean I get overwhelmed at big things like this me and my wife would use it if we could come but we are wanting to get over to the store. We are over on the otherside of the world 🌍 haha
This is gonna sound weird, but for the GameBoy Display, you might wanna look in to things used for art conservation. Even if just for the plywood and screws, conservation-level replacements could come in just the right size/thickness/durability to revive it.
I don’t think the board game is a bad idea. I would recommend fireball island personally BUT, offer wet wipes and hand sanitizer at each station to avoid the greasy gross pieces.
Thinking about seating is important. If people will be occupying tables for a long time, put seats or benches on the side walls for people who just need a seat. I know my feet get tired fast.
9:04 it looks like from my view that the bottom square that needs to he replaced could ge swapped out for a fresh piece pretty easily with the hands of a surgeon.
Xenosaga episode 3 haunts me, every time I see it I can't afford it for the price it is going through. Fast forward a few years and now I could afford it but it has gone up in price to a range I wont pay.
Only up to 2XL on the shirts is WILD bruh, we all know without a doubt that video game enthusiasts come in all shapes and sizes, up to 4XL would be alot better. 4XL doesnt need many, but there should still be some
What if you guys have a kids concession area? Bright colors, hot dogs mac n cheese nuggets ect... and have the board games there for them. The parents can sit down and play & teach the kids these old school boars games. And Im hoping some how that theres a few hats left over and you put them somewhere to buy online! Im Florida and no people to go to the con with and I am not solo'ing to Arkansas 😂😂
I'm an Automation and Controls engineer. I don't do installs for the triggered audio sampling you wanted, Rick. But I could teach you or an employee how to do it and what you would need to order to get it done. Let me know if you're interested. It's easy enough.
Im nothing like that but I would also just imagine having an IOT enabled device sense and log the people entering would be enough for the door. Then something like a Raspberry pi would be enough to receive the signal and get logs of the amount of people entering/exiting. Then have the pi send the signal to an IOT enabled audio device OR wire it. Probably wont cost much nor be too complicated. Also just one time costs and no subscriptions needed.
@exsnozer you don't have to be an engineer to be smart. You're spot on and one of the methods for completing this application is just as you described.
Love the board games but as people will be stopping by for a short period of time, keep the games short. I.E. Simon, Hungry Hungry Hippos, Rockem Sockem Robots etc.

Reaching because of limited attention spans. Those games take time and patience. Operation and Simon might be the exceptions. Those two are quick and fun to play.
I think the board games is reaching a little much, Rick's point about the food grease from everyone touching em while eating is spot on.
For adults, I hear ya, but for anyone with kids I think the board games will be a welcome distraction for them.
Who cares...

Definitely an easy way to get sick too. Touching things that little kids were playing with while eating? Not a good mix.
Adult here, I would play if I was going.

The music is fire, great choice!

There is an old school ice cream parlor in the town I live in. They have old school games at each table. I play them every time I take my kids there.

Much love from Toronto, I wish I was closer
I like the board game idea
Just a little extra value added customer service
Setup a Console video game competiion NES, SNES, and Genesis categories like Blockbuster did during their video game championships back in 94'
A helpful tip to fix that game boy cabinet.. get some PC Woody. It’s an epoxy wood filler. Stuff hardens like no other, and sand able/paintable
Rick becoming the comment section at 9:05 😂
Rick's inner Morty coming up hahaah
Laughed so hard at Rick yelling on the zoom in during the section about the Game Boy cabinet -- big Lemongrab energy
I've seen some of the dudes who go to game cons. You probably should have made those shirts up to 5XL.

W Rick. That stinky Phoenix Resale was throwing shade at you on his recent video!
Can swap out that piece of particle board with some plywood. Will be stronger and last longer with glue and screws
Save that GB Display! If you do arcade repair you would know of a quick fix is to use some Wood Hardener for the flaky parts & then Bondo Automotive Body filler to spread & fill in and fix the missing wood where the screws are falling out, then sand it smooth when dry.
Need another behind the scenes documentary when you have your event like the one Phoenix resale did recently😊
You are getting me really pumped for the convention man!
Rick's kids have an AMAZING childhood! All the games! All the toys! Younger me is jelly.
Yup, chill coffee shop music is my jam too. Or light classical sometimes.

It’s still kind of a band aid but it will last awhile at least.
Man wish I could get a shirt but I’m sized out! You know half the con will be 3XL +
I would set up TVs with game collections instead of board games because yeah they gonna get greasy real quick
Use Gorilla wood glue to glue the 2 loose pieces of the Game Boy kiosk together.
Give me hard rock/heavy metal. When I have that the work day flies by.
Think some mdf sawdust mixed with wood glue would be a great filler for the missing bits on the bottom of the cabinet.
Always got to have the lofi on deck. Jinsang is one of my faves
Dang those hats and shirts are 🔥! Mouse Trap is my favorite board game 😁
Chill electronic play list. The best
Music I find calming is 1930s and 40s big band or any of the bejeweled soundtrack’s
I’ve spotted the Xenosaga III in that pile right beside Rule of Rose. Still pretty close to a 300$ game

CRTs and consoles on tables like los angeles. You guys were there :)
Ro is the luckiest kid! Great content guys!
I've been jamming lofi Halloween beat music while I work lol
This is gonna sound weird, but for the GameBoy Display, you might wanna look in to things used for art conservation. Even if just for the plywood and screws, conservation-level replacements could come in just the right size/thickness/durability to revive it.
I listen to Lo-fi, Synthwave, Animal Crossing, Zelda music at work 🤝
Ppl will steal the pieces lol
Oh man I’d love a hat, can’t afford or have the means to get there. Have fun guys!
I don’t think the board game is a bad idea. I would recommend fireball island personally BUT, offer wet wipes and hand sanitizer at each station to avoid the greasy gross pieces.

Would be neat to check the place out! Too bad I'm way too far away. LOL.
Use a small tiny corner "L" bracket in the GameCube cabinet. Out it in the inside an attach it to the raw MDF board.
If it’s as water damaged as it looks it wouldn’t work I don’t think. The board is chipboard not mdf and will just disintegrate
9:04 it looks like from my view that the bottom square that needs to he replaced could ge swapped out for a fresh piece pretty easily with the hands of a surgeon.
PS2 is RED HOT right now!!
Getting a bunch of horror games was amazing timing with fall
Man Rick could be the new Lemon Grab! LoL do a UNACEPTABLLLLLEEEE
Xenosaga episode 3 haunts me, every time I see it I can't afford it for the price it is going through. Fast forward a few years and now I could afford it but it has gone up in price to a range I wont pay.
every collection is the best quality they ever gotten lol
Fr and when they mention grails please NOT every game is a grail SMH
I love the movie MouseHunt!
kinda funny went by the store a few weekd ago looking for some specific games and here they are in this trade in lol
I get anything and everything done with early 2000’s to 2010’s hip hop.
Only up to 2XL on the shirts is WILD bruh, we all know without a doubt that video game enthusiasts come in all shapes and sizes, up to 4XL would be alot better. 4XL doesnt need many, but there should still be some
I’m a AZ driver in Canada , I’d love to leave my job to be in this workplace , just lmk 😃
i WANT those .Hack games.

@Rick Best morning tunes: L.A. Noire soundtrack, trust!
Mouse hunt; what a guilty pleasure!
Your son is awesome!
The games for the Convention are nice, but won't they be incomplete in about 2-3 hours??
that low density wood composite like the cheapest type of wood board you can get
music that gets me going is death metal or black metal or thrash metal or metal
You forgot Splat! in your collection of board games and Crossfire lol
Saw you had Operation Darkness Xbox 360 in stock. I called and you don't ship? What's up Rick help your subscribers out!!!

MORE YELLING RICK PLZZZZZZ🤣🤣🤣
Michael gets the Zelda watch, he needs to be dripping with swag
Add uno attack! It’s fun!
Hoooooover. Legend.
I want that Minish cap!
My go to music is 2pac, or 90s mix , to get work done
No way dude I am a Bang Energy playing Animal by Pearl Jam in the background kinda guy.
What an incredible trade in
I live in hot springs so I'll be wanting some free tickets to the con
Great ideas❤🎉😮😮😊😊
Aww wish I was going the hats are 🔥 I want one!!!
table top games bring people together. Debate settled.
Rick I want to go to the retro fest so bad but I live in Japan! 😭😭😭
I listen to rock mostly at work.
Gr8 video 🎉
I need one of those truckers 🤘
Music is always west coast gangsta rap. 90s 00s you cant loose
Love the board games but as people will be stopping by for a short period of time, keep the games short. I.E. Simon, Hungry Hungry Hippos, Rockem Sockem Robots etc.
Michael needs to whip Rick into convention shape before it starts. He stuck to the program for two or three days.
You have to remove and change the wood on your game boy cabinet.
Gota carry 3x too brother
Jazz deep house
👌🏼
Soooo, got a text about winning something a couple days ago… kinda assumed it wasn’t legit (I never win anything lol 😂) - THANK YOU GUYS!
It’s real! Congrats! Thanks for coming to Retro Fest!
That is very cool
07:26 do you use price charting for all games or just for some?
Add a piece of something on the bottom to cover it all up.
