  • In 1987 the United States was celebrating its 200th anniversary of the signing of the Constitution.
The US Mint celebrated by producing a beautiful set of coins in gold and silver created in Proof and Mint strikes.
The $5.00 gold proof was minted at the Westpoint mint and the $1.00 silver proof coin was minted in San Francisco creating a stunning set that would look great in any coin collection.
So how much are they worth? Be sure to watch the whole video to find out.

I don't normally buy modern commemorative coins but after seeing how beautiful this set is I may just start building a collection.
    Happy Holidays!

The major significance of the quill pen to represent the signing and the creative interpretation of the U.S. eagle helps this design, on the gold, shine above the rest; moreover, the patriotic "We the People" silver coin is magnificent! Perfect! Happy New Year to you too, GD.😊👍💛

Nice pick up, GD! I wish I had some better local places to buy. I have two coin shops and they’re both awful. Sometimes I buy from a guy at the flea market, but the only good deals are on 90%. I’ve done best on eBay and internet dealers. Happy new year!

I have a local coin shop which is terrible as well so I no longer work with him.
Most of the things I bought this year came from some of my old customers or referrals from them but that doesn't come real often anymore.
I rarely look on eBay for coins since I never seem to find decent buys although I have seen many videos on here where people say they get great buys. I guess I am just not on there at the right time.
      Happy New Year

GD Saving The Past the only way to get a good deal, or at least a decent price on eBay is during an auction. I’ve stacked lots of rolls of silver for better prices than bullion dealers. Just gotta be fast on the bid button.

@@jeffmee9326 Thank you for that info. I don't generally filter for just auctions but now I will.

GD Saving The Past BullionExchanges was where I was getting most of the stack. They aren’t selling in auctions now, but I’ll let you know when they do again.

Nice pickup but I think a limited set of buyers. This is indicated by wide pricing distribution on Ebay. It could be that the person that paid over $1K had a limited selection at the time of purchase. The popular coins have much narrower distribution range as far as price

BC That makes sense. I think I will do OK with this set since I picked it up for bullion prices so I am not concerned about the limited appeal when or if I sell it later.
      Happy New Year!

GD Saving The Past based on your video this set was purchased from the sentimental viewpoint rather then strictly intrinsic or collector viewpoint. So if you bought what you are enjoying and did so around the price of bullion you did well. Does not sound that you are intending to flip to make money so definitely a good buy. Enjoy. Thanks for warm wishes you appear to be a classy gentleman. Happy New Year to you as well!

@@bullioncat1575 Yes I do like that set but if the price of gold approaches 2k again and silver $50.00 I think the sentiment will disappear quickly.
I do have some things that would never be sold but this is not one of them although I may buy more commemorative coins if the price is sensible.
      Happy New Year!

Does the $5 golden coin have the eagles claw going thru the 9 on the date?

Thanks for stopping by and watching Albert, I appreciate it.
The silver coin in this set generally sells for $25 to $35 and the set with the gold coin has been selling in the range of $450.00 to $500.00.
