    hi after over 1 year of successful printing, my flashforge 5M Pro is stuck on the initiation screen (just says flashforge on the screen) without the little beeping tune or progressing to the menu. Do you know what could cause this? Firmware corruption? Hardware broken? I have dowloaded the firmware zip file but I dont know how to open it to the USB and place the correct files in the root of the USB.

  • @borissergijevic7357
    @borissergijevic7357 3 месяца назад +2

    You don't need glue. I never used it with this printer, at least for PLA. Just set plate temperature to 65 degrees as the first layer, it sticks well just by itself. Also, it is now fully integrated with Orca slicer and has all profiles predefined, including features Wifi and Camera... You can print a side attachment to mount filament at side of the printer. Nozzle clogged once, easy to unclog, just follow on screen instructions. Thumbnails images now got better resolution. Excellent printer, that gets better and better each update! Print quality is remarkable, sometimes surface seem so smooth, even for highly complex models, as it was injection molding. Very satisfied!

    Love the review... The quick-change hotend is super fantastic - Wish all printers were like this.... Though Bambu Labs set the standard, it seems the rest is starting to catch-up pretty fast and making a niche in their own right. I even love the new chamber filtration on this printer. Now if they would have made the build plate standard like the 256 cubed, this machine would give bambu a run for its $$$$.

    • @ItsMeaDMaDe
      @ItsMeaDMaDe  11 месяцев назад +2

      Yeah I told Flashforge all the things I think they need to address to really start making their way to the top. Build volume is a big one for sure. But I do think if they listen to what people want they will be making one hell of a machine.

    • @stephenf98
      @stephenf98 11 месяцев назад +1

      @@ItsMeaDMaDe I agree... I just heard that bambu made a X1E with the same type of filtration system with a few other upgrades...
      I think 2024 is going to be a fight to the top...
      If bambu made a 350mm cubed.... I think they would corner the cosplayers niche hands down.

    Receiving expensive products for free in exchange for a review is not much different to a sponsored video. The bias is inherent in the process of "gifting" items the rest of us need to save up for. I wonder what the terms are? Can the RUclipsr decide not to make a review, and keep the product? Or is a document signed that requires the RUclipsr to write a review or else the contract is breached? Whatever is going on, it's a commercial arrangement, someone is getting paid just not with money.

      Thanks. I really only accept printers from companies that agree to having no input on what I do or say about it. To me that means the company is confident they have a good product and don’t care. Some have backed out in the past cause they want me to say or mention specific things. Glad you liked it and thanks for the comment.

      Speaking from experience, (I have an Ender 3) it depends on the filament. If you're gonna be printing primarily PLA or TPU, then you shouldn't worry about fumes. ABS and other filaments like it do have some pretty strong fumes, though.

      @ItsMeaDMaDe  11 месяцев назад

      Yeah. I recently printed my first layer at a slower speed 20mm/s with no glue and I did get a first layer. I think they intended the glue when your printing at their default setting which is 50mm/s.

    • @Synplex
      @Synplex 8 месяцев назад

      I was getting on here just to say the same thing. I usually prints my first layer at speeds under 30 mm/s and I've never used glue on this thing. And I've already printed some items as tall as 200 mm

      It really should be no biggie to print the first layer slow (and sure). How much of a hurry can anyone be in?
      I do like how these printers are becoming as close to Appliances as they're ever likely to. Not just for beginners but also experienced folk who want solid reliability, perhaps because they're making and selling product.

    • @ItsMeaDMaDe
      @ItsMeaDMaDe  11 месяцев назад

      I think so. The biggest thing that isn’t is the build plate size. It printed just as fast as my Bambu x1 but build size is something some people make their entire decision on. If the build volume was bigger this machine would really be a good competitor for Bambu. If they keep up with these updates and give the people what they want I think they will be a very competitive company

      @@ItsMeaDMaDe So, now that I had some time to use it. I can really appreciate your video even more. There's a couple of things I noticed that I thought I'd share.
      - The PC Sticker Sheet is intended for ABS/PC/ASA, hence the reason for the glue. Only, you have to use the glue for PLA or any filament that you're using, including the failed print that you had. I guess they thought since they were giving you such a hot nozzle that the plate should match.
      - You can purchase (awaiting in the post) a non-glue PEI Sticker Sheet intended for PLA/PETG/TPU from their website
      - The magnet on the bed... WOW is it powerful!
      - When changing filament, cut as close to the extruder as possible. The printer goes into auto-mode immediately to the new feed. I do wish there were a way to stop the extruding, it seems wasteful on the amount. Maybe in a future firmware update?
      - Also, I wish they had a "Home' option in the Change Filament menu. I keep forgetting and have to come out every time. Actually, I'm surprised it's not an included step in the process.
      - Quiet, it's quieter than my Prusa. But, I have it modded and pimped-out so I can't remember the stock model noise.
      - I Macgyver'd a 'Lazy-Susan' so that I can rotate the machine to get at the back to change filament, network, etc. It works great. But, I agree, the side would have been a better. I have no idea why they designing these machines like this?!?!
      - Network, if you are using FlashPrint to connect via network you MUST make the IP Address static. Do this on the router. This also seems to be a standard issue with the new network direct connect systems.
      - Profiles: OrcaSlicer download from their website, Cura already had it, and PrusaSlicer I will create a new profile mimicking the FlashPrint configuration
      - The glue is actually really, really good. Only one problem! I can't seem to find a place where you can actually buy it!
      - The Bed Temp, they have it profiled at 50C. I am so used to 60C! Nothing major, just something different than what I'm used to. Shhhh... I bump it up to 60C, old habits! :)
      - I agree on ALL of the improvements that you mentioned; e.g. phone remote access, etc.
      - I have to disagree with you on the 'who this is for...' I would say, "Anyone!" I have been in the hobby for years and have several printers, but this one is now my favorite. Beating even both my pimped-out and modded Prusa's w/ MUU2s.
      - My major GRIPE is not having an AMS and not knowing if they ever intend on offer one
      Cheers!

      Yes, both of things! You can even change filament color and continue making new layers. But notice that whenever you pause printing, you will probably see a little trace layer on the print, because resuming won't ideally stick to the layer that completely cooled.

I don't know enough about the integrity of this company, but youll often see companies removing "early access/free product" if someone is too negative. And that's what devolved into a lot of the time. Video games being the biggest culprit. Just call it for what it is. You receive a free product, that is, a very indirect way of sponsorship.

      @@lukasritter2544 it's only when the side fan kicks in like a jet engine! But also without it, it's absolutely the loudest printer I have, when not fully closed and printing something like Pet-g or ABS... but it seems obvious, more speed, faster movement, more cooling required...more noise....

    All of these reviews, and *NONE* of them are mentioning what firmware this printer runs *OR* the $40 it costs to replace a single nozzle.
    If it runs Klipper, more people will buy it for the control it provides it's user, and the ability to mod it.
    If it's closed-source, it's competing against Bambu, which it will 100% lose given Bambu's market dominance and options for future expansion.
    Would somebody please, *confirm what firmware this printer is running* . Unless FF told you not to, which would be kinda sketch.

      So Flashforge didn’t tell me to say anything they just gave me a printer. There is a lot to cover and I covered what I thought was most important. To answer your question about it though it runs marlin and is open sourced. The nozzles depended on size costs $35-40USD. Which I think isn’t bad since a ruby nozzle can cost up to that. Hope that helps.

      @@ItsMeaDMaDe The quick-change nozzles in the Adventurer 3 were horrible, clogging all the time. Hope they improved it. I really appreciate the low noise though.

      @@rinkelk yeah unfortunately only time will tell for me. If I start having a lot of issues I’ll definitely do a follow up video to explain the additional problems that arose if there are any.
