I have 3 passions. Family, woodwork, solar power and how to store energy with a small footprint on the planet. Anything to reduce our dependancy on fossil fuels. Feel free to make comment if you agree or dissagree.
David, I just bought a Nissan LEAF and I think I want to do this too. The AC300 and B300 is a little out of my price range, though. ($4000 USD when you throw in 2-200W solar panels). Is there another cheaper package from Bluetti or another manufacturer that I could combine with solar panels to trickle charge my vehicle? Is it possible to put together a portable EV solar charger for less than $1200? Will any Bluetti model of portable battery work with my LEAF?
Any solar generator that has the capacity to deliver the same power (watts and volts) that a standard AC outlet in your home can do, will be able to charge your car using the same charging cable as you would from a standard household GPO. These cables are referred to as Granny chargers as they take a long time to charge a car battery. In my case it would take 36 hours. Regarding using solar panels, they will work to feed the solar generator but you cant beat the maths. You would need to charge your solar generator to full capacity by the solar panels, connect the car and maybe get 2 kilowatt hours fed into it and then using 1 x 200 watt solar panel in ideal situation spend more than a day charging the solar generator. Obviously the bigger your solar generator and panels etc, the more power you can harvest from the sun but you will still be restricted by the output from the generator to your car. I hope this helps. Note, I do not know of any charging cable that delivers less than a granny charger and if there was it would possibly take 1 month to charge your car battery. My AC300 and B300 can deliver an emergency charge to get me around 40 kilometres.
Well, this might help you to get to the next proper charging point, like a jerry can in a combustion car, so it's good to know, that there is the option. Altough, comparing the capacity between the power bank and the battery of the car, it's nothing you'll do on a regular basis.
Correct. I am trying to show that there are options available. I could throw the solar generator in my ev and rescue someone who has run their ev flat if the need arises. 2 ev families are already happening.
You just sad it takes a full charged bluetti to drive 20 kms..we need kinda even light bluetti, with even more storage capacity and EV batteries less heavy and far more working
3 kilowatt hours from the Bluetti will deliver 20 kilometres in my EV. The EV has a 60 kilowatt hour battery which gives me a very tidy range of 400 kilometres. The Bluetti can be charged by solar panels as it is charging the EV. Developement of new tech takes time as we transition from fossil fuels.
So, does solar panel charge bluetti faster than EV batteries get charged by bluetti? And is this process good for batteries healthy/safety in a long period?..just wondering 'cos i' m really into free moving
It comes down to how much power the solar panels can generate. To answer your question directly, the bluetti has a 3 kwh capacity if one battery is connected to it. A granny charger cable transfers around 2.1 kw maximum speed and there is loss due to heat and ac to dc conversion. This scenario is suited to charging an ev at home while the sun is shining. Do the maths and work out how long it takes to travel 20 kilometres at 60 kph. The answer is the car will use the electricity quicker than the bluetti can deliver it.

Brilliant David have a great Christmas and New Year
And Merry Christmas to you also Brad.

..this could mean free traveling across the country with your bluetti and solar panel

Correct but it would take a while.
