  • Eliminating light pollution is absolutely crucial for the perfect shot in astrophotography - be it through using filters like the ones from Optolong or Antlia, or be it to escape the light polluted area and to go somewhere darker with a lower Bortle score. But how can you find the perfect spot to set up your telescope? Let me show you how to find out!

Bruh the closest Bortle 3 to me is 1h20m away and in the middle of an empty desert next to the border💀☠️

Greetings from Nevada. Yes, we have some nice dark sky here. My back yard is about Bortle 4. Thirty minute drive to Bortle 2 and a bit further to Bortle 1. I use a fabric screen to shield my scope from light and wind in the backyard. Black privacy screen on t-posts.

I still remember the sky when I was driving very early morning to Canyonlands NP - it never left my memory.... So I can imagine how it must be in Bortle 1 country.... I'm jealous ;-) Great idea with the privacy screens - might be a good idea given my neighbours motion activated yard light is driving me insane....

Flight tickets to Morocco or Algeria are not that expensive.

Why do you need Nevada and Wild West; Kazakhstan is closer darker and lesser expensive. Oh, Europe as well!

Very true - in Europe all is light polluted but to the east would be some opportunites.
