Time after time The Breakfast Club brings incredibly learned yet accessible guests to be interviewed for relevance for current issues. I am so grateful for your work guys! Engaged democracy needs this kind of discussion,So much said here 👏.
I’ll say this as I’ve been reading books like crazy this year and studying history through books and not just hearsay. You can always tell when your listening to someone who has done some serious reading and serious work on comprehension.
The way I view Freedom is that every human is free, born free. Humans on Mother Earth are naturally free. Someone will always try to take your freedom and that's why the fight is never over. But be clear, a constitution or proclamation doesn't give freedom, it only acknowledges freedom on paper. Every human is born Free and deserves to live that freedom out. Fight for it.
Not mentioning that is always one side gets theyr life taken away just trying to prove that it exists and yet we all have to come together and not let them devide us,
When black blood is diluted, it produces anxiety, uncertainty, unrest, and at times darkness within. As a mother of a mixed embryo, I believe that you must work on yourself to combat those traits. I know this because I gave birth to a mix-embryo who struggles, and I feel like there is nothing I can do to help. There are times when it is sad to watch. She seems lost. Despite my love for her, she is a different person from me. Sometimes I cannot connect to her. Good interview.
People who are angry about his skin color or take issue with it, need to realize many Black people are light skinned (i.e. Nikki Giovanni, Angela Davis, Amiri Baraka etc.). Are those people not Black too?!?
Black people have a severe racial perception problem in the U.S., and it's so very sad. If his very white appearances communicates a 'black' racial identity to you, then you are steeped in & unfortunately unable to reject the white supremacist racial programming of the _one-drop_ myth. You should not be proud of that. Henry Louis Gates did a special on this guy on _Finding Your Roots_ & determined that he is 80% white. Eighty percent. He then went on to say in very stoic & programmed way 'I'm black". There's no greater testimony to one's acceptance of white supremacist _one-drop_ brainwashing than that.
May be the best Breakfast Club interview in a hot minute. Brotha Jealous needs to do a bit more research tho. He's mosdef related to Vince Vaughn too. 😝
So now people are invoking who the Freedmen are? Let's start with holding politicians to task on policies affecting the"Black" American Freedmen community first. Precisely where we are the majority population. I agree with mainly everything he said. Great conversation.
Having a rotating 3rd cast interviewer fits right. You have your base (daGod and Envy) and you have a 3rd member who can be selected to cater to the type of person they will interview. This may be too serious to you but Breakfast Club has evolved into a station not solely for jokes and musicians (which will still be there in some interviews). Its an outlet for real convos too. Lets cater to all things black. Angela Rye compared to LaLa or Jason Lee for this interview fits perfect.
Bring of Polynesian descent ( Samoa, Tonga) I seen old pictures of African Warriors of Madagascar and was always shocked to see they had almost the same attire as our Samoan people. According to history Polynesians were expert navigators of the seas so I believe this theory about Madagascar having ties with Polynesians. I also believe we all originate from Africa and migrated outward. Some of our deeper pure Polynesian blood lines produce Afrocentric features of very darker skin tone, and thick hair similar to African hair compared to Polynesians mixed with European, Asian DNA having less thicker hair.
So let me get this straight. Africans are the oldest people on the planet, going back roughly 250 thousand years. migrated from the African continent to every corner of the planet and some how never looked at Madagascar whch is only 2458. miles from the African continent?
People of Madagascar are admixture of bantu people from east Africa and astronasian people from Indonesia.just astronasian people migrated there first and after africans from the mailand migrated to the islands, twese two groups did interbreed for thousand of years.

Ben Jealous, spreading knowledge as usual! The only issue I have with Ben during this interview is that, he did exactly what most men do.when they come on this show: They don't address the women on the show. He looked at DJ Envy most the time, and some time at Charlamgne, but never at Angela Rye, even when was the questioner. I am always disturbed by this type in-grained misogyny.
I hate that Angela continues to refer to racism as being embodied in Trump without also saying citing that BIden has wayyyy more racist history than Trump

But you can’t find plenty of pictures of him people who have been in the KKK and people who didn’t want their kids in school with black kids
Some things about racism were always hard for black people. I am black and proud but because of racism life presents certain challenges for me. I accept it, but I am not happy about it. It's just the way life is for me.
