I truly believe that - If Kim had released this as a single here - she would’ve had a No.1, with it. I loved it the first time I heard it & still do ❤️❤️❤️
I don't know how ANY of them aren't as "famous"-that bloody Kids thing is her most UN-remarkable 80s song ever. 'House Of Salome' is ultimate, and virtually everything she's ever done so brill, especially in the 80s where she was the heights of all heights. This is the kind of thing only she can do and it sounds so cool, hip and not sentimental at all.
For those who don't know, this song is about her little sister I hadn't heard this is years, thanks for posting! Kim looks really cute in the video. I think it's a sweet song!
But it isn't just that. It was written in response to the Chernobyl disaster when for some months in 1986 it looked like much of the world would suffer because of it and Kim then feared for what kind of world here sister was being born into as she wouldn't have started school yet but would be a 'Schoolgirl' for a future looking increasingly uncertain. "There is sadness and confusion in our hearts, as the world prepares to fight as it tears it apart, it isn't fair" says the middle-eight which is where the song hits hardest. You also hear it more in the instrumentation and electric guitar, but that's in the longer version (called the 'Headmaster Mix), not the shorter one here.
This is so 80's. And I love it! The 80's was one fantastic decade when it comes to music and performers. We were served talent and creativity in huge helpings.
Perfect song for a bright sunny day. It is partly about the Chernobyl disaster that happened in Russia in April 1986. I LOVE the Extended Headmaster Mix also!
I remember I used to dress exactly the same and had the blonde hair ...and all the boys .. but not the talent .. now im 50 but Kim always makes me smile
Not sure if anyone gives a damn but if you're stoned like me during the covid times then you can watch all the latest movies and series on instaflixxer. Have been streaming with my girlfriend recently =)
im the same age as this song too! everytime i see that trailer for that new movie about chernobyl ("chernobyl diaries" i think?) i think of this song cuz kim wrote it right after it happened about her sister, roxanne. i love kim and her music, especially the "another step" era.
Where was this video shot? It must be somewhere in London....seems to be in Southall or area..? That famous gasbox on the way to Heathrow is shown in it :-)
All later songs they made was more mature an psychoilogy better. ( they also accepted material from external people ) I actually like the brand "Kim Wilde" more AFTER 1994
and anyway I think that this song could be sung about schoolboy. Talking about beauty I can only offer to watch some of for example "den harrow" 80s videos. I think there's no as beautiful girl as den harrow (a boy) at all. there are many beautiful boys. And else, as sung "the whole world waiting for you", I wonder why shouldnt "the whole world" be waiting for a schoolboy? I dont think girls are any better than boys. I dont wanna offend someone's point of view, I just tell my own mind.
So what? Why not? And what's so funny lol? What's wrong in telling a boy "you're really something to see"? What does "you're something to see" mean at all? I thought it meant something like "you gotta see something" doesn't it?
No it’s not much of a stretch for her to sing about her little sister, niece, a girl she has seen and is reminded of her younger self or for her younger self as song she wish she had at the time.
This must be literally the only Kim Wilde video that's made obvious to be set in the UK! 🇬🇧
I truly believe that - If Kim had released this as a single here - she would’ve had a No.1, with it. I loved it the first time I heard it & still do ❤️❤️❤️
Absolutely agreed
the greatest music history is the '80. Thanks Kim Wilde. You are one of the greates act of the Time.
I do not know how this song is not famous like kids in America and the others!! this song is perfect!!!
I always loved this tune.. It was my favourite tracks on Another Step...

cincimoney Wow I didn’t know that about the Chernobyl inspiration. But makes sense otherwise. And now her little sister tours with her
Nostalgic song. First time see the video for it though.

The song is so summery, but the school and the over cast sky in the video completely shatter that image, still a cute summer bop though.

Total 80s song. Totally :)
Someone knows when this song was released (month and year)?

Video budget of £5 and they had change left at the end of the day to get coffees from the van.
Great song!
But it sounded more like it was from the
90's than the 80's.
It's from 1987
So what? Why not? And what's so funny lol?

It means: You are quite a sight. Worth looking at. A nice view & meaningful to look at. Special.
No
26 year old woman singing a song about a schoolgirl - it's strange to say the least. :)
Not really that is just society being programmed to think that by the Thought Police. The subject here in and of itself is benign and innocent.
Not really she was auditioning for Grange Hill at time
No it’s not much of a stretch for her to sing about her little sister, niece, a girl she has seen and is reminded of her younger self or for her younger self as song she wish she had at the time.
No it's not famous
This vid was done in the girls playground on the roof of Henry fawcett school Kennington
En mejor lugar imposible el la escuela , donde todos conocimos nuestras parejas.,bello vídeo.
