Having shopped there since the late ‘80s, it is commendable that the place is still around. Maybe not the most exciting store, but you can always find an oddity or rare gem that can make your collection. Take your time to sift through the whole place.

I'm already seeing a lot of classic albums already especially that Neil Young's first solo 1968 album that was hanging up on the wall 👍🥁🥁

Back in the late 80s we used to skip school and hang out in Atlanta and Fantasy Land Records was one of the places we would go visit. Doesn’t look like they’ve changed much ( of course they are at a different location) Wax n facts is another good record store to check out

Did you pop into Fellini's on those skip days too! I went to North Fulton in the late 80's and we were there or at the McDonald's down the street.

Man, can’t believe I’ve never been there. I usually hit up Wax N Facts, and this store reminds me of a much larger version of that!

The Chi-lites are still readily available (twofers, Greatest hits that have 20 tracks per disc plus). That's the stuff that the affordability window may close on as there core catalog has been in and out of print over the last 25 years. Rhino and Edsel did some of the best reissues on them. The are pronounced "Shy-lights" like Chicago. I even have a box set on them along with one by label-mate Tyrone Davis.
That Bar-kays cd you showed was all re-recordings. I totally forgot about that Three Degrees comp. They rerecorded some of their songs too but that title you showed was the real deal.

Eying those Styx cassettes at 8:35. Also saw Uriah Heep! Alan Parson's Project - Nice! I would not mind having the Pink Floyd CD box set there at 15:31! That place is loaded!

Yup, that was Taylor Swift in the rare CD section. Her first album featured a homophobic song. She claimed it wasn't but the album was removed from stores. It's collectible now.

Metal CDs are under "Punk and Hardcore". I show them at 19:52 (on Part 2). Sadly, they don't have a lot. Just a few CDs. This is one thing I noticed in many shops I visit in the US: they don't have a lot of used Metal CDs. I have discussed it with shop owners who told me Metalheads are one of the few groups who still buy lots of CDs, but rarely sell them to shops. The shops I have visited with the best Metal collections are the European ones. Check, for example, my other videos, "Carbono", "Lemezkuckó 1" and "Tubitek". They have tons of Metal. I do not live in Atlanta, but if I go back there, I'm sure to visit Fantasyland again, as I liked shopping there (although Metal is not my thing). Whenever I see a decent Metal collection, I try to cover it, because those albums/artwork do look gorgeous. Thanks for your comment and keep the music spinning!

I bought all of my bootleg on vinyl back in the 70's when they were on Peachtree St. It was huge! And hard to find stuff at hard to meet prices, iirc. I hope they are under new management cos that old owner was a 🍆. I'll have to swing by Buckhead sometime.

I visited that store when I was in town. They have a large selection of almost every type of music you can think of. The rock section, though big, is not really that impressive. The prices are OK. Not ridiculously crazy high like Rock & Roll Heaven in Orlando FL, but not that cheap either. No bargains, that's for sure. There are a couple of rooms in the back full of - for lack of a better word - crap. Still, over the years I've bought a few items but I always found the old guy that works there (probably the owner) to be an asshole with a bad attitude. Last time I visited Atlanta was last year (2023), but the last time I visited that store was in 2014. There are plenty of other record stores in the area, with better selection, less crap, and certainly much better customer service - even if they may cost a dollar or a couple more. Take your store and shove it.

You do make some fair points about prices and the one curmudgeon behind the counter (the other guy's cool), but I've actually found a lot of good country, jazz and vocalist records in the back room. Reluctantly I say it's my favorite store in Atlanta (the long gone Full Moon in Candler Park was my favorite), but it seems like every store these days, around here at least, is picked over and overpriced. Which stores do you think are better?

I think that’s a fair assessment. I haven’t been in a few years and never met the grumpy old guy lol. They use to have a room with cheaper vinyl and cds that can have hidden gems.

I don't care much about the CDs , their worthless, bring on the LPs! CDs were rushed "unfinished" on the market, Bernie grundman tried to tell them they weren't done, but they decided not to talk to him anymore and ignore him! If 96k/24 bit was the CD, LPs wouldn't have came back! At least not to the extent it is now!😊
