  • In a full team with AgentFoxMulder93 playing Tyrone, Kim-Emo playing Valerie, and EminTounssii playing Martin. This was against Gencay, who was playing Nicholai, and so I prepared myself for a rather unconventional time, as I knew from past experience that Gencay enjoys running non-meta things on his MMs. I even bought a blue herb in anticipation of him running an infection build, since that was the most non-meta thing I could think of for Nicholai. But it turned out, despite the creatures and his deck, he played much more meta than I expected.
Area 1 started with a scare: right at the start, Kim stepped on a trapsplosion right outside the safe room, which downed her. I knew the cameras needed to be out as soon as possible so that we could revive her, but with no RAIDEN in area 1, I decided to take it out with Instant-- a decision I immediately regretted, as I was standing right out in the open, and was sure to be interrupted. But astonishingly, Gencay managed to miss me, hitting only Emin instead, and I got points from his camera. I took out the other camera while Fox revived, and then we worked to catch up to Emin, who had pushed ahead. Fox helped him out on the creatures, and after scaring away Gencay on the main camera, I once again resorted to Instant to hack the camera in the hallway. Like before, I also regretted it, expecting to be interrupted-- but once again, Gencay missed, and I got 20 seconds from him. Gencay more or less left us mostly alone as we stuck together for the rest of the area, and although he tried to isolate me, I knew it wasn't worth it to fight him on the camera, so I just kept running.
In area 2, it was evident that Gencay was running camera durability... but with High Caliber, and with Kim and Emin helping me out, I was still doing fairly decent cam damage. We made our way downstairs together, and the team found Yorick fairly immediately. Gencay spawned Nemesis, but Emin not only stunned him, but also took out Yorick by himself, managed to avoid Gencay's rocket, and then even made it to the first terminal and got it done. All the while, I waited patiently, taking out an inconsequential camera to test how strong the camera durability was while Emin and Gencay battled, and then I timed out the camera after, which felt pretty nice to accomplish. Emin gave the keycard to Fox, and we pushed ahead to the upstairs terminals together-- where at the third terminal, Kim, Emin, and I all shot together and took out the camera above it instantaneously (Upon watching Gencay's vod of the match later, I learned that this moment apparently fooled him into believing that Kim was running camera scan on her Valerie!). All the while throughout area 2, I managed to get a good couple of Gencay's cameras with Instant, timing it for speed, or for when I knew my teammates were putting pressure on the other cameras. On our way to the exit, Gencay gooped Kim, and I knew he had another goop shot waiting, so I intentionally ran out in front of Kim to bait out the second goop shot on me, with the hopes that if he got me, I would be shielding Kim from his machine gun. And although I don't think I positioned myself quite right for that, Gencay took the bait, downing me instead of Kim first, allowing her to break free and heal me while Fox and Emin put pressure on the camera.
Area 3 went by quick. I ran right into a trapsplosion, downing Emin and me both, but Fox saved us with a FAS. Gencay spawned Nemesis, but Emin, Fox, and Kim all worked together to stun him in place, sending him back up the lift as I then managed to time out Gencay's camera with Instant perfectly. Fox and Emin got the first core done, with Emin finishing off the camera for me, and we reconvened to go to the second core together. Apparently, after this, Gencay had forgotten about the third core's existence, but with it being so close to the final exit, this gaffe was lost on us. He spawned Nemesis, and I tried my best to get downed away from Kim (which once again worked), and Fox finished the core quickly. We then took out two of Gencay's cameras together with some teamwork, made our way to the exit together, and waited it out Nemesis-free with Interference until the exit opened and we escaped.
Gencay felt like he didn't play well in this match, and I can understand why. His mistakes and second-guessing allowed me to get way more cameras with Instant than I was honestly expecting, even though knee-jerk reacting with Instant is a pretty bad habit to have against Nicholais: I honestly shouldn't have gotten half the cameras that I did. But despite my bad habits, I am pleased to have put as much pressure on him as I did, timing out certain actions to get the best results, and that I was able to mitigate disaster by drawing attention to myself instead of Kim at key points.

I mean, in this instance, yeah 😅 though in all fairness to this mastermind, I know for sure that he was having a rough day, and that he definitely normally does way better. I mean, in area 1, I stood out in the open twice when hacking his cameras and somehow got them both-- how was I allowed to get away with that? lol
I'm sure the next time we come across him, it won't be quite so easy, but I still thought this was a GG regardless :)

Good job! You deal with MM camera so amazing ngl ✨😍

Thanks! Although I definitely shouldn't have tried to Instant his two cameras in area 1 while just standing out in the open like that. Since I don't run anti-arm, Instant is sometimes the fastest method I have for taking out cameras... but I realize I tend to rely on it a lot. I just got lucky that he missed me both times there!

Wow, trapsplotions everywhere! I would have been dead 5 seconds into this game 😂. That was weird that gencay kept missing those shots on you in those vital moments. I know he’s a good nic player. Everyone has their off games though, it happens. I have to say that was an amazing use of instant when he left nemesis in area 3 ( I would have been so pissed if I was the mastermind 😂 ) GGs 😁👍

Yeah, I wasn't expecting that, for sure! I knew he ran non-meta things, but I had bought a blue herb expecting more of an inf3ction build. I was so worried that when that trapsplosion took out Kim, that it was going to be some fast trap build instead :O
I really shouldn't have knee-jerk reacted with Instant quite so much.... but I got insanely lucky that Gencay missed both times in area 1 when I was standing out in the open. This definitely wasn't his best, but he still put up a good fight! Plus, having skimmed his whole vod after, it looked like our team was his only real loss that session. So he bounced back :)
That camera after his Nemesis was so satisfying! Fun fact for you: when Nemesis starts to despawn and is flailing around, he always grunts sharply once, then two more times in quick succession, and then finally a groan as his body disappears. If you start to hack the camera on the second grunt (the first of the two quick grunts), then you'll almost ALWAYS be able to get 10 seconds from the camera, as the timing makes it nearly impossible for the MM to switch away in time once they return from Nemesis. I try to keep that timing in mind for good MMs who know how to switch away quickly, and every time I managed to get it right, I've always been able to get seconds from them :)

Very well argued description and very well played game!

Thank you! I actually didn't think anyone really read my descriptions with them being so long 😅and I know it's not terribly well *written*, what with all the run-on sentences lol.
But I've always tried to provide explanation for my gameplay choices, which might come off as weird or dumb without context. And sometimes my gameplay choices *are* weird or dumb, and I want to acknowledge that I know that. I really shouldn't have relied so heavily on Instant against a good Nicholai like this: it only worked out because he happened to be making even bigger mistakes than I was.
And furthermore, I thought it was pertinent to acknowledge "yes, this MM didn't play to his fullest potential here, he's normally much better" because it'd feel pretty disingenuous imo to pretend like the reason I won was because I was just that skilled or something. I know I definitely had that attitude toward certain MMs early on in my Resistance career, but these days I try not to do that

@@Furiousbearcat At this point it is very difficult to find an internet user who knows how to use punctuation marks. That designed a lot of you; It is very commendable of you that you are a perfectionist in your prayers. Admirable!
My English is not appropriate; my native language is Spanish. Even so, I try to make myself understood and above all tell you that you are a very intelligent person.
You have great energy! And from what I see, you know how to handle them successfully.
You can do many things! Just depend of you. Good girl!
