I used to be a SCUBA diver, it seems like the rubber "O" rings are the weakest link as rubber will always rot , but if you take reasonable precautions to spray the rubber rings with silicone spray and avoid getting moisture inside the cylinders, it causes them to rust from the inside out. You can extend their useful life. Rubber life can be extended by spraying them with a good silicone spray which is readily available at any Walmart in their automotive department...
It’s possible for a static discharge to occur using your truck bed as a place to refill your propane tanks. The plastic bedliners can build up static electricity.
Not to hijack your thread but if you take a st5xo.8 tap grind the pointed tip off, will srew right in to the plastic bushing and pull it out in under 10 seconds, you can replace the oring and reuse the bushing if you dont have the flame king kit. You can also pickup 1 use coleman tanks and salvage the bushing and oring they have only been screwed into 1 time.
My pressure relief valve on those tanks will leak when the tank starts to get cold while in use. There are two little holes on the side of the neck which start spewing out propane as a the tank starts to get frost on it. It’s almost like the metal shrinks. It’s the little circle in the inside of the edge of the neck.
@@williamvaughan1218 sorry but i have one in my hand with bushing and o ring out there is absolutely no way to remove that valve thru the top it is installed from the bottom of the brass fitting.
I took a plastic drinking straw and cut it to the length of the Allan key and taped to the propane tank so it was just under the lid so it wouldn't fall out
does Flame King send the kit for free or how much is it? Since the round brass tool in this kit is reusable, is it possible to just get/buy one tool and multiple o-ring + plastic bushing for multiple replacements on bottles?
I Hope someone can help me with a Flame King issue. Twice I had the O ring and inner sleeve pulled out of the flame king refillable tank. The outside temp was cold. Both the sleeve and the O ring pulled out of the tank and stayed on the Flame King refillable wand adaptor refill stem. The 2nd issue was in moderate temperatures I had 2 issues when filling the 1 lb refillable tank. After refilling the 1Lb tank liquid propane spewed out until the tank was empty and a 2nd time with another refillable tank the vaper spewed out and stopped after about 30 seconds. Is someone able to assist me with the issue? I did contact Flame King, they replaced the tank spewing the liquid propane and gave me some sleeves and a couple of O rings. I have 12 tanks, Love the product but would like to know if could I be doing something wrong. I do at times keep my cylinders outside in a plastic box in very cold temperatures.
The WHOLE top valve assembly thingy should be replaceable so you don't have to play this pick game. 3:50 Make sure there is no DEBREE in there? What about all the Deep Scratches or Gouging you just did with the picks getting those parts out? Yeah I know it is not actually your fault, You Had to do that you had to do just to get the tiny parts out. Why I hate these kind of products.
So why did they put the plastic hitch thing on the adapter and the groove on the cylinder neck if you and most others don't bother lining the two up??? I don't get it!

100 refills. That's a pretty impressive run! I'm providing this link to this video on my channel.

Thanks for sharing from Australia well done
@@danielflinn3571 thanks for watching!
Thanks for the video! I found a corkscrew works great to remove the sleeve!
Great idea
Thank you sir for making this video very helpful and educational
Thanks for the tip. Still a good useful video.
Thanks for posting this.
There is a much better way. I will follow up soon. Thanks for the video! Happy New Year!!
What is the better way?
Yeah what is a better way?
I like the magnet idea.
They sure are easy to lose

Im sure the bushings are available somewhere but you may have to buy 10,000 minimum.😅

I have had the same issue twice. I contacted Flame King provided pics and they did replace one of my bottles without any issues.
@ they sent me 2 new ones. I have yet to try them. One of them was too bulgy on the bottom and it wouldn’t stand without tipping back and forth.
Do the new refillable Mr.Heater Kegs also have a parts kit available for future repairs, if not these Flame Kings seem more logical ?
I did speak with Mr Heater and yes they do intend to eventually have a repair kit available.
If you could get a schrader valve tool in there removing the valve should push out the o'ring and plastic piece.
The schrader valve doesnt screw in from the top.
@@KevinKieffer-r7e not on the relief valve but it does on the tap side. You remove the plastic piece and the o ring to access it

If you take one out thru the top take pictures.
I go to take mine off the 20lb tank and it all sprays out! Brand new flame king!
Do you shut off the valve on the 20lb tank first?
I took a plastic drinking straw and cut it to the length of the Allan key and taped to the propane tank so it was just under the lid so it wouldn't fall out
I’ve had the set screws strip out. Ever fix one of those?
No, sorry I haven't had any issue with that at all. I would contact Flame King with that one.
Thanks for the tips! Did Flame King send it free or was there a charge for it?
Yes, they sent those for free. I emailed them.
@@3RiversFishingAdventures thank you much appreciated

yes they sent it to me for free. You will have to contact them to see what their policy is. It might have changed.
Why didn't flame king sell you the proper tool to do it with.
So you just call or email them and they will send you the o ring kits?
Yes
Will these 1lb flame king tanks fit in a Mr heater big buddy? Will the Coleman tank refill adapters work on the flame king tanks as well? Thanks
Yes and no
Truck bed liners have injured and mane so many people by their static charge at filling station filling gas cans.. Careful

how to you get extra o rings
Contact Flame King
As an suggestion. Crocs and no gloves are not liquid propane sufficient on any level.
I think I would've first tried threading an appropriately sized bolt into the sleeve, then pull on the bolt. Anyone else?

I have this small green Coleman how did you get that replacement part so like if I call Coleman they'll send me that replacement part
These are flame king brand, not coleman. Coleman does not make a refillable bottle.
