@@ClaudiaBoleyn Okay, so beyond my initial reaction and having actually watched the full video at this point, I have something I'm actually interested in hearing your thoughts on... Donald Trump right now is talking about ending the quarantines and self-distancing within two weeks and forcing people to go back to work because of the negative effects the virus has had on the stock market and the US economy in just this past week alone. This will result in our hospitals being overburdened (they are already projected to be overburdened by the end of the month) - which in turn will result in care being rationed, people being turned away, and potentially millions dying. Essentially he is proposing sacrificing the most at-risk people in our society to save the markets. What are your overall thoughts? If this happens, do you think workers should go on a general strike? Do you think this could result in societal unrest (or even collapse)? And in the bigger picture, do you believe this is the death knell of Capitalism - and by extension, will eventually result in a new economic system? Or are we just totally screwed?
Also, on a VASTLY lighter note, we never got your thoughts on GOT's terrible no-good final season. I really miss the GOT reviews you and Dan used to do, they were seriously some of my favorite videos on your channel.
Ah! YES! I'm so relived to hear some one else is struggling with this. I'd rather look back in 6 months and think, ' wow, i was totally hysterical and totally over reacted', rather than feel like I didn't take it seriously enough, soon enough, but it's so hard to communicate this to someone that is so active , social and outgoing. My Dad is amazing, but, if the shoe was on the other foot, I know he'd do anything to protect me. I just hope I can do him justice and all the shouting while holding back tears of worry will be justified. xxx
Listening to you speak always makes me feel less anxious and alone, so thank you for all the videos you are going to post in advance (whether thats 2 videos or 10 videos lmao) - for me, as an autistic person, all this has been very stressful and anxiety provoking but its nice to hear someone who is voicing how i feel
In Spain we're on day 9 or 10 of lockdown, but I haven't seen my boyfriend in two weeks - his father could be at risk if I visit them because he had a liver transplant years ago, and I work in a supermarket and could catch the virus easily. We live ten minutes away from each other but it's starting to feel like we're on a long distance relationship. Anyway, I'm still working but in my days off I'm watching a lot of TV series - I'm currently watching season 3 of Riverdale, and playing the new Animal Crossing game and the Sims too. I'm not reading much because I can't really concentrate with all that's going on. I've already listened your ASMR video twice and it helped me relax a little bit. If you need ideas for new videos, could you possibly make one showing us your Tudor & Anne Boleyn collection? Books and other stuff. It would be really interesting. Stay safe! x
I love that you're keeping a kind of video diary during these times! I can't imagine what it must be like to have to convince your family that this is worth being scared of. I have so much anxiety around any kind of conflict, if I had family who didn't understand the need to social distance and isolate I'd be a complete mess.
omg...i've actually said to people that i feel like cassandra, trying to convince others to take this seriously. where i am in texas, people are still pretty much going about business as usual, and it's extremely stressful and anxiety-inducing for me. i'm so glad you're making these videos. you're such a calming presence, and you make me feel less alone. thank you.
I totally agree with you it is nerve racking seeing people in Texas flouting the social distancing guidelines. "You can tell a Texan but you can't tell him much" lol hang in there and stay safe:)
I'm so happy you are making content during all this. I love your videos and it feels like a friend in a way. Thank you for giving me something to watch. I'm the same way in wanting to be as careful as possible while everyone on my social media was joking about it all. Sending lots of love to you and all your family right now!
There was something really comforting about watching this. Someone feels the same way I do! I've stopped looking at all the news and am just watching the daily broadcasts and I'm feeling alot less anxious than I did this time last week. I feel like we have similar families as in alot of people. When we had my Nan's funeral, the crematorium was packed with alot of people standing at the back. I feel exactly the same with the social distancing stuff, I'm staying away from my grandad as much as i adore him because I'd rather him be with us for many more years. When my nan was dying, there was only a week between when she was taken into hospital and when she passed away and I don't want that to happen to him. We can all get through the next few months together 😊 topic suggestion, just talk about things you are doing daily to keep your mind off everything.
Thank you so much for this video - I've been following you for about 7 years, since I was a teenager, and always found your voice and presence really soothing, which is why I love to see chatty videos such as this one from you. In France we've been in lockdown since last week. I live in a tiny studio flat and I've been unable to see my parents for quite a long time - I can't go back home before I finish my 14-day quarantine because my dad is 70 and that put him in the at risk population as well, so I really empathise with you there. But you do get used to keeping in touch with your loved ones through phone and video calls, and I'm sure it will not affect the quality of your relationship with your family at all. Can't wait to see more videos from you in the near future ! xx
Ok maybe make a whole video about your grandparents (obviously with their consent) because I would love to hear more about them. I guess like stories you have with them growing up. Hearing about your grandparents make me envy your relationship with them because I personally don’t have that in my family dynamic.
I’d love for you to talk about your favourite books maybe a review. I don’t know, I’d just love to hear you talk about books in some way. I guess I’m just really bookish 😂
We have started social distancing and working from home last week in WA US but we just had our Govoner put in an order for Shelter in Place. My sister has a genetic condition that means she is immunocompromised and both my parents fall into the high-risk group. I feel for you right now with your Grandma. My grandfather passed away 3 weeks ago and those of us in my family could safely go flew out for the funeral 2 weeks ago. I was so glad that we were able to literally come home the day before stricter flying measures were put in place. It was so important to me to go, my grandfather, was the grandparent I was closest too and I actually called him Granka (my baby mispronunciation of grandpa).
Aww, I hope you are well hun. I’m sure it’s hard to stay grounded during all of this. I’ve been struggling w my own anxiety as well. Hmmm, topics for u to discuss. Tea! Book reviews. Hobbies. I’ve been quarantined for almost 2 weeks. Oh!! I love the shout out idea!! :D
I've been experiencing similar difficulties. The balance between news making you anxious but lack of knowledge doing the same. My parents being late sixties and with dodgy health who don't seem to think they need to worry about themselves. Thank you for sharing.
Thank you for the video!!! So relatable at this time. If you have any insight/tips into how you're managing to focus on study/work at a time when it seems like so much is going on and it's hard to care about the usual stuff?
Hope you’re doing well, Claudia! Sending you all the love 💕 loved this video, well I love all your videos. I can’t think of something for you to talk about at the moment but I look forward to your next video!
Sending you best wishes from Australia. We haven't gone into lockdown yet, but it might only be a matter of time before we do. I think keeping busy is definitely the key! Hope you keep doing these videos - I really enjoyed your video essay about Chris Chibnall and the British Empire.
Hi, thank you for documenting this, it really helps me! I would love it if you would talk about books, which are your favourites, what are you currently reading, if you have recommendations for feel-good books etc. Hope you're doing well. :D
This video is a Godsend. I was just having an anxiety attack and felt as though I was losing my damn mind. Isolation SUCKS and while I’m used to doing it on my own accord, it scares me to think that I’m being forced into it along with basically the rest of the entire world. Also, my brother has an autoimmune disease so I worry a lot for his health and for my parents and grandparents as well. These have been really hard times. Thank you for sharing this video. In a way, it’s good to know we’re all in it together. Your grandparents all sounds incredible btw 💕 P.S. Do adopt a cat or kitten! It’s one of the best decisions I ever made.
