Your determination to get a 200lber will win through I'm sure. Great video. Well done all, especially Luke. Amazing. Thanks for sharing. Take care and stay safe 😷🙊
bravo to Luke, outstanding angling. Glad to not see the mankini,😱. Keep up with the videos, there better than owt on telly and great to see some angling if your stuck inland for harvest.
Hi Mark, cracking video with some fantastic fish coming onboard especially Luke’s fish on such light gear, amazing. Myself and two other boats are planing a couple of skate & shark trips into the Moray Firth this summer. I have couple of questions if i may. I see you are using mono is that a preference or best practice? The bait you are using is that fresh or a couple of days old? Can you recommend a harness, is full shoulder better that waist plus reel hooks? Thank & regards Brian
Hi Brian, really good and relevant questions. Mono is the skippers preference but having done this several times now I can see why. Fish care is better as braid could/would damage the fish if wrapped or snagged. Due to the depth you are fishing braid against braid in a tangle will part where mono has a much better chance of recovery. Personally I think mono is a must. Skate aren’t fussy eaters but I think matching what is there is the best option. Mackerel, dogfish, octopus or squid all work. You do not necessarily need huge baits. A shark setup of belt and desperate shoulder harness is a good choice. I have battled several of these belt alone including 8 in one day. Back and hands were wrecked the next day. Belt and harness spread the load. For hooks I personally use Mustad 12/O’s with the Barb crushed leaving a smooth hump. Some grind out the Barb leaving a sharper entry.
@@seaangling Hi Mark, thanks for your reply, pretty much as I thought, in the Moray Firth they don’t get the hook up rates they get on the west west coast although they have seen a few monsters last year 190 - 224lb, the other advantage is water depth between 40 - 60m. Will definitely go for the full harness, thanks for the advice, Brian

Highlight has to be luke ,he's clearly a top angler and needed nothing from me 🎣👍plus the farther/son photo to finish ..thanks again mark 😉
Absolutely and a shame I didn’t have more footage in the correct format. Thanks again for another top day out. 🎣👍🏻
Hi mark , what a stunning huge fish you brought up from the depths mark well done. All the best from G.Y.
They are amazing to see up close and their power is hard to describe. A decent sized fish can be over 6’ across and 7’ long. 😲

Keep an eye out for Luke and his social media, certainly a rising star.
Are you watching this whilst driving a combine or tractor?
I’m on the tractor, but rain had stopped play for a day.😀
Awesome Mark top angling as always 😁
Cheers buddy, it’s tough work but someone has to do it. 😉
Really enjoyable and informative vid Mark. Thanks and keep them coming.
Thank you John, glad you enjoyed it. 👍🏻🎣

They are fantastically strong. 🎣
Class video as always mark content is bang on 👌🏾
Cheers Lee, any aspects you would like to see on the channel?
Wow what a cracker Mark . Going to have to put that trip on my bucket list . Amazing.
I would highly recommend the skipper, boat and location. An all round amazing experience. 🎣
Another brilliant video Mark, a quick way to give you back problems?
Agreed. I did capitulate to the full harness and belt on this trip. My back felt like a fully stretched elastic band waiting to go.
