- Taking one of Japan's most iconic cars to Japan's most iconic car meet. Allen's AE86 is one of my favorite cars that's always been around and always done exactly what you want a car like this to do. Working at Tomei, Allen was able to build the perfect street hachiroku with Formula Atlantic Pistons, TECARTS ITB's, a Haltech ECU, custom Tomei camshafts and plenty more. After Daikoku was shut down, an unfortunately common occurrence these days, we took the car to another local PA where we took a deeper dive into the car and it's history!

Honestly I still find myself re-reading some of the product install articles you did with your 34 i.e the carbon driveshaft or the G-Sensor control to inform and ideate for my build. Naturally very excited to see the 34 getting more attention - I think spotlighting new products for the GTR, coupled with interviews with those producers on the solutioning of those products would be immensely cool - factor in a buyers perspective of cost, value and review. (Kind of like what you just did there with Shibata)

With any car that "ran when parked", even if its yours, its always fun to show how it is now, the story of how it came to be, perhaps with some period video over the years, then the all the work that it needs. Even some content on the Shaken process, as that in and of itself is often a story. Of course finishing the car after registration with a celebratory drive across Rainbow Bridge on your way to Daikoku but that is a given. Or be different this time and film the car on Izu Skyline after an early morning drive.
Your knowledge about and respect for the culture make this channel a masterpiece.

I finally managed to get out to Japan for the 1st time in Feb this year and after years of SH and Tokyo NUR posts about Daikoku, I knew it had to be on the list - so thank you Dino for planting the seed!
I made the trip for the Sunday "Cars and Coffee" style meet and was absolutely blown away by the quality and variation in the cars attending, completely blew my expectations out the water - Italian Exotics, US Cruisers, Boso bikes, Itasha big bodies and a load of Japanese rarities (Autech BCNR33 GTR in MNP). That Z20 Soarer with the roof box and the Petronas Z40 was there too that day.
It's funny still hearing New Era and Miguel still coming up in conversation. I vividly remember the Sales page in Banzai back in the day for his Graphite/Black AE86 that was the first "Pricetag" AE86 we'd seen in the UK. £30k when everything else was around £7k.
Love to hear it! Sunday mornings are definitely the go to. Crazy to think even back then numbers like that where thrown around for them.

Great seeing Allen! He visited the old performance shop I worked for in the U.S. when we were Tomei dealers and was super chill. He later coordinated a private Tomei shop visit for us when we were in Japan for TAS. Will never forget his hospitality. Nice to see the Corolla is still kicking as well🤘.
I remember that visit still. Was cool seeing that shop and what the trend was in the US. You had that EVO back then too right?
Would be cool seeing how you find parts for the GTR, and the general work you do on it to get it back on the road.
Also love the small tuner shop tours. And detailed videos on local Japanese builds would also be awesome.

This was a fantastic episode. Nearly everyone goes through phases of life where the demands on our time become hard to deal with. Those are often the times when owners end up parting with their cars (in the cases where money is of concern, this is understandable). But the guys who develop a bond with one special car and manage hang on to it for the long term always make for the best stories. I'm not talking about people who buy a pristine example of a car only to keep it tucked away in their garage and off of the roads, but of those like your friend Allen here. Good stuff!
Yes I’ve been in this position too with my R34. Cool to see Allen kept it and is now starting to perfect it
out of curiosity i would love to see an interview with Tokyo police and hear the other side, coming from a car guy like you who understands the culture

Thanks man. Yes they are, depends on the day and weather, if it gets busy and noisy they shut it down. They shut it down before 8 that night

Brother , First of all , i like all you vedios .
But please next time if you could , not filming at night , seeing the vehicles details is very important , another thing please , it was nice talking to your friend about his car , but better to foucse the camera about the part you talking about , not dirctly his face .
