I’m only newly getting into magic and I bought this precon in hopes to find an amazing video explaining why we’re cutting and this is hands down one of the best!
Hey I love your upgrade guide! I was kind of down after reading everywhere that the precon sucked and that other upgrade guide virtually replaced every card in the deck, but your guide keeps in a lot of the cool cards that fit to the theme of the deck.
Glad you hear that you enjoyed it! Personally, I like to replace enough cards that it improves the deck but not so many that it takes away from what the core build is (usually between 25 - 35 cards) - so I'm glad that that came through in this build!
I did several of the same removals for a silly modular creature version. I'm pretty soft on decimate though. It requires a target for each card type and I usually have two things happen. 1: I have to blow up someone's land for "no reason" and draw some hate 2: If no one else has a enchantment, I have to target mine. Just my experience with it. Great video all and all! A couple good defensive includes you mentioned I'm going to try out. Thank you!
Glad to hear you enjoyed the video! Decimate can be a bit clunky to use at times but I suppose that the price for being a 4 for 1 removal spell at 4 cmc. If its not working for you though, Gruul has access to some other solid removal options that can easily be swapped in and work just as well.
Going to be voting Hinata again. All the commanders here on the list are ones I am hoping to see techs for...but Hinata is outside my usual color selection
i really appreciate this guide! I am new to mtg and I really liked the kamigawa precon even though it turned out to be a bit rough to compete with against my friends. I also got song of the dryads to help make the deck a bit stronger. what should I take out to put it in?
Most of the other voters seem to agree with you, so it looks like the Tatsunari may just be getting his shot unless there is an upset in the next few days!
Gonna be the underdog in this, but Isshin needs a deck tech to capitalize on extra combat triggers. I'm still down for the other two since they're really popular among the groups I hang with, but I would like to see Isshin get some love sooner than later. Hopefully before spoilers for Streets of New Capena start next month! 😊
Hey, the underdog tends to have a lot of fight in them - so we'll have to see if Isshin can climb up the ranks to claim the top spot this time around and, if not, he may get another chance further down the line!
Kosei is certainly a interesting commander. It may take some going to get him suited up properly to get him online, but once he gets going the value does not stop!
I like the list, but if we’re talking pricy alternatives like at the end, shouldn’t cards like bloodforged battle axe and avenger of zendikar be brought up? Or maybe craterhoof behemoth?
The first one would continuously make copies of itself, thereby triggering the commander even more for the go wide strategy and growing exponentially over time. While the second and third would be great ways to dump tokens and power ups on board to close out games.
What about Ascendant Acolyte? This green creature came in my pre-con and wasn’t discussed. Also how do you feel about adding Toggo, Goblin Weaponsmith and Avenger of Zendikar? Really appreciate your video, thank you!
Ascendant Acolyte is more of a win more card in my opinion - if we bring it down on a established boardstate it will come in huge and get even bigger, but if we're behind draw it, it a 5 mana 1/1 that doesn't do anything, which is why it was cut from the main build. Toggo gives us another way to modify our creatures with his rocks and lets us use those rocks as removal and burn, while Avenger of Zendikar's mass token creation can be very good to get a whole lot of modified tokens in play - making them both solid additions if you want to run them.
@@GrazzetMTG thank you for the reply man I appreciate it. I also have an unrelated question but I feel you’re knowledgeable on it. So I only have one standard deck the mono white aggro 2022 deck. My brother bought the 2021 Lotus Field Pioneer deck to 1v1 me with and these are the only 1v1 decks we have. Is the deck matchup fair? Or is one stronger than the other. I dont want one of us getting blown out everytime.
Upgrades, people, upgrades! Robots reference aside, amazing deck as always, especially given how non-voltron the deck ended up. After all it makes sense for the shattered blade to not have all its pieces in one spot. My vote goes to the Toad rider, since he rides a frog into battle, and those are too magnificent of a species to ignore. Also I am curious if we can make a better build than Jimmy Wong. Day 217 of waiting for the Grazzet face reveal. Say, do you have a favourite planeswalker?
Glad to hear you enjoy the build and thanks for voting as well! I do love me some planeswalkers but its hard to pick a favorite. I would say Nicol Bolas, Dragon-God is probably one of my favorites though - but that may just be because I got a lot of value out of him in Standard at the time.
Toggo is a great means to modify lots of creatures on the cheap and gets us a lot of extra damage once we start flinging those rocks, so I can see him being a great addition - and Embercleave us certainly a great upgrade over Mage Slayer with is cost reduction that takes advantage of our wide boards, as well as its flash speed trample and double strike to win games our of nowhere (just a tad bit too pricy for this build). Great swaps overall!
@@jmillzoryan9763 I would say Halana and Alena, Partners may be a good card to swap our for her - since Halana and Alena are more about building up 1 creature while Nissa, Voice of Zendikar can pump up our entire board of tokens.

@@GrazzetMTGbut what would you replace with the last three upgrades at the end of the video ?
I'm REALLY hoping to see a Hinata, Dawn Crowned build next week
We are two.
It looks like she's in second place at the moment, but we still have a full week to go, so lets see if she can pull ahead in that time!
Dang, totally forgot you did a Chishiro build. Love this guy

+1 for hinata. So much bonkers potential
Thanks for voting! Hinata is certainly a powerful commander that I would love to have a chance to build around!
Woah. Im early. Your videos go up very late in the night at my time zone. Good morning/evening grazzet.
Good morning/evening to you too and thanks for joining us as always!

thank you my good sir
Glad you enjoyed it!
I think I'm most curious about a Tatsunuri budget build, and would love to see a Greasefang deck sometime!
Thanks for voting! Greasefang would certainly be a fun build around for a vehicle recursion/reanimation style build.
Chippy!! Curious to see how my musings matches up; did not make the budget sadly. Putting a vote in for Hinata
Glad you enjoyed the build and thanks for voting!
Now THIS is how to ball on a budget
Glad you think so!
I think the Jeskai and Mardu ones are so straightforward that Tatsunari will lead to the most interesting build.
Most of the other voters seem to agree with you, so it looks like the Tatsunari may just be getting his shot unless there is an upset in the next few days!

Posted a complete list of swaps in a pinned comment.
@@GrazzetMTG Really appreciate it!
Good stuff as always
Glad to hear you enjoyed it!
Chishiro just might be the commander I was looking for to go infinite with Razor Boomerang!
But it's Kosei that I'm more inclined to build around
Kosei is certainly a interesting commander. It may take some going to get him suited up properly to get him online, but once he gets going the value does not stop!
@@GrazzetMTG I'm thinking that Auras and Equipment that add counters to the attached creature would be very useful
Nice deck!
Glad to hear you enjoyed it!
So what card could I replace after this upgrade to add a free sac outlit for a infinate combo with grumgully and kami?
Gotta give it to Hinata. She just makes so many already good cards absurd.
True - she can certainly take some previously weak cards and make them very playable or push good cards into the realm of busted.
I like the list, but if we’re talking pricy alternatives like at the end, shouldn’t cards like bloodforged battle axe and avenger of zendikar be brought up? Or maybe craterhoof behemoth?

Toggo would be insane in this deck
He wouldn't be a bad addition at all, since since rocks as easy sources of modification and extra damage in a pinch. Good suggestion!

Is this just a timestamp to skip to the deck list?
I'm new to MTG.. if I have Nissa with this deck, who should she replace or if anyone ?
Which Nissa do you have (since there are quite a few planeswalker versions of her)?
@@GrazzetMTG Nissa, Voice of Vendikar with the +1, -2, -7 abilities.

Is this AI or is the VO just really difficult to listen to?
It is the latter I'm afraid.... Turns out my recording cadence is sort of an "acquired taste"...
