    Jamie Burch aka currently Jamie Redford has clearly been a talented actor for many years. Now that his formal education is finished, I think we're all very lucky that we'll get to see more of him. The first time I remember seeing him was last year on Emmerdale playing a 4 episode guest character named Tyson involved in Liv's storyline. I have since rediscovered some of his earlier appearances. It doesn't take this gifted actor much screen time to show you how good he is.

    I'm autistic myself, and I think autism was shown in the show very well here, since the hypersensitivities and hypo sensitivities which result from the condition can be a problem not only for autistic people, but for neuro typical individuals too. That plus it's common for people on the spectrum to respond well to music, especially music therapy.
    I personally can actually relate to it, partly because I don't always respond to things immediately since I tend to get engrossed in things a lot, and I have issues with some textures too, as rough fabrics and labels can irritate my skin, which can be painful. It's especially an issue for me, since I have a low pain tolerance as a result of my hypersensitivity.
    My main hypersensitivity is my sense of smell, particularly to smoke. Due to that, as odd as it may seem to some people, something as simple as walking down the cleaning aisle of a shop - even a small shop like a convenience store - is physically uncomfortable for me, and I can still smell things when I'm stuffed up with a cold.

      I'm autistic too, and I totally agree with you, but you can also get people with PTSD who are very sensitive with noise and surroundings too, e.g. During the Coronation Street tram crash of 2010, to mark the 50th anniversary of the show, Gary Windass, who suffers from PTSD was sitting in his house covering his ears after hearing the crash, followed by the all the commotion from everyone else on the street, as he thought he was still in the Army, fighting in Afghanistan. It just comes to show that there many types of people who are affected by certain things in life.

      I have the sensory issues you describe. Do you think it's worth looking into or ask for professional help?

    • @184natasha
      @184natasha 4 года назад

      @@Zero-Zero-Zero-Zero If you think that you're autistic as well, then yes, looking into it is totally worth it, as well as asking to be referred to get a diagnosis, this usually being done so by a GP doctor. It's often done by someone who is qualified to diagnose autism, like a psychiatrist, a clinical specialist or a neurologist.
      Having an autism diagnosis can answer a lot of questions about an individual who has some form of it - for example with me as I mentioned, it's why I'm highly sensitive to scent - plus since it's classed as a disability, it also protects people by law against unfair discrimination, because doing that is a criminal offence, and it can also help employers and people who run extra curricular activities to prove that there's no discrimination occurring.
      Hope this helps.

    Interestingly, they are correct about Autistic people feeling things differently. Autism affects sensory processing. For example, I once got a nasty burn on my arm by resting it on an overheating laptop charger for over an hour. I didn’t even notice until I smelt the skin burning. 🥵 But labels in my clothes can feel painful! I can’t really tell if something is boiling hot because I won’t feel the pain of the burn so I have to be very careful but I am over sensitive to the cold and it feels painful to me. We actually experience the world in a very different way!

      Not necessarily. It depends on their imitation skills. I've worked with kids on the spectrum who can imitate something the teachers do within seconds and others in which it takes months/years to teach them to imitate something. It's all individualized, just like with neurotypicals.
