England was the number one ODI team of 1987. Won Perth Challenge then this WSC in Australia. Won the Sharjah Cup and ODI series against Pak home and away. Finalist of 1987 WC defeating WI twice in that cup.
This was a dream few months as a 9 year old England fan. They did so well the BBC started showing the ODIs live (which they’d never done before for overseas games that I recall). How quickly things went downhill again after 🤦🏼♂️
Only 5 of that team (Marsh, Border, Jones, Waugh and O’Donnell) would beat in the team that beat England later that year in the World Cup Final. Boon, Veletta, Dyer, McDermott, May and Reid (12th Man for this games) did not play. Botham did not play for England at World Cup in 1987
3:13 The English innings finished pretty fast for a winning side. We saw nothing but English wickets. It's as if some Australian blackguard edited this.

I was 7 at the time and remember being heartbroken at the outcome of that match.
It was quite sensational that such an ordinary looking Australian team went on to win the Reliance WC less than a year later.
Well said and the English team looked such a superstar team. I had no idea they were so good back then

Hardly any batting of England shown. Just the fall of wickets

Australia 1/62 after 20 overs. They were so slow back then.
Good Team Work By English Team.
Can you please upload the match between Australia and England played at MCG and SCG from this series
1:05 did I just hear Ian Chappell credit Ian Botham?
