LunSolCal for the iPhone is great. Its a couple of bucks but its worth it for all the information available. Also worthy of note is that you really don't want to start shooting until astronomical twilight is over. LunSolCal will tell you exactly when that is (usually about 1.5 hours after sunset).

+Don Walters Thanks for commenting apps for the Iphone Don. True about Astronomical Twilight. I like to get everything setup and aligned as soon as I can see Polaris. Takes a little while to everything setup focused, aligned...etc. Doug

+Rick Rowski Thanks Rick. One good thing about this app is you do not need cell phone service for it to work. So when you get out to your remote site you still have GPS satellites overhead. Doug

The best parts for AP use are the GPS location and the altitude. The video above explains it. It's a little different now, but, very similar. The GPS location can be entered in your mount settings. Not too much guide here. If you have an Equatorial Mount, then you should be able to enter the GPS data somewhere.

+Astrophotography Tutorials no probs dug but one question i have mu refractor and nikon also the t-ring attachment and i wanted to go where theres no light pollution(dark paces) and to capture orion nebula andromeda and i think u had a video about that it was hard to understood and complicated little bit so whats the easiest way to photograph ?

+DiamondSkyGunner Hi DSG, I've just started getting into DSLR imaging. You have a T-Ring attachment, that's a great start. One Item I purchased for my DSLR was this T-Adapater www.amazon.com/gp/product/B002F8Q2ZC Keep in mind this is for a Canon camera, but, I liked it because it was one piece. I also found with my refractor, I needed a 2" extension so I could reach focus. What you should do if you haven't done this already is find your focus during the day. This way when you get out at night you'll have some confidence where focus is. I've been wanting to do a video of a DSLR setup and how to shoot with it. I'm new to DSLR shooting so I have a lot to learn. I did take this blood moon photo with my refractor and DSLR copy.com/x2kyhiK2hOZcF11m that was my first DSLR photo using my telescope! Doug
