- www.danceclassm... This one-hour lesson is number fifteen from the book "100 Lessons in Classical Ballet" translated by Oleg Briansky. It is the sixth lesson from the second year of study and is a beginning pointe ballet class containing short barre exercises followed by several center combinations and six pointe exercises. Each exercise is fully demonstrated and performed to the music on the CD. Chapter markers and subtitles are located at the beginning of each exercise creating an easy to follow interactive DVD.
He is such a nice teacher! I like the way he coaches the students. No wonder he could produce such talented young dancers!
nice teacher!!!! I would be so glad to have a teacher like that
balletdancer923: I agree. If you have the passion for it, and the willingness to work hard, by all means, dance!
Wow! what a wonderful teacher! i which I could take a class from someone like him!
The older you are, the less time you USUALLY have to do ballet to get on Pointe because your feet are more mature and more likely to be stronger with less training than for someone young with growing feet. Of course, not everyone is the same, and it may take longer for some than others. There was a girl at my studio who started pointe at 21 with minimal training and she was ready for it. It just depends.
@stacylive2dance I'm glad you asked. The link is given up there with the title of the DVD.
@cutielolxx If you heard, he said near the end when they reversed that it was "sousous back," so of course earlier in the first side their sousous travels forward. I agree that it looks like they are jumping, instead of springing, we all start that way- when they are stronger it'll look better.
i love en pointie work. i've been doin pointie since i was 10
The group movements aren't releves, they're sousous with movement forward and then backwards on purpose. Sousous are bascially jumping into releve, particularly in the Russian technique.
@eleniyen I agree experience isn't everything, if you love to dance then that's all you need...
@snowboardgloory It's called springing not jump. Jumping up is terribly wrong, but to spring up is like quickly scooting your toes under to get en pointe. I think ALL dancers en pointe doing fouettes naturally spring up, instead of rolling through.
@Malela89 (It know this comment is a bit old, but I just wanted to reply to it.) It doesn't matter what weight you are. Strength is really the only thing that matters as far as danger goes. Even if a girl has the ideal "ballet body," if she has no strength, it's far more dangerous for her to dance en pointe than a heavier, stronger girl.
I NEED to learn BALLET!!
@eleniyen 23 was the age I started at as well, and I am not getting ready for pre pointe. In the video of the recital. you could not tell I had started later. that was a year ago.
I think they are great.
awesome!
i agree, shes also jumping to pointe. but they're all fairly good. lots of potential
Thanks for posting this, its great! I've been looking for some exercises for pointe in the centre! The girl who does the relevees has gorgeous arches, but her arms are very stiff!
@AGwatermelon that's suck i know how it is last I'm 19 now and i started ballet last years and it went to a point that i couldn't afford ballet classes anymore and they aren't that expensive in my dance school but i just couldn't but the oner of the school told me that she would give me a scholarship during this year and i was so glad and i hope she makes every dream of her came true because she is way to good for me :) so have hoppe.
Sometimes the music gets out of synch when some formats of video are converted. I had one go out by a whole bar - the dancers were on the beat, but finished a bar behind the music.
I agree!
@Malela89 I don't think its too dangerous. I'm not the lightest ;) and on pointe! Your feet, ankels, knees and back have to be strong and you will be allright :)
I live in New Jersey, and I want to go on point. I'm 5 foot 7inches. But, i weigh a little more than I should. How much should I weigh to be on point!? Can you give me any advice or tips for loosing weight???
I have this book ordered (:
They have such good turnout
How do you spell- what sounds like - leesawd? He says it in the video? Thanks!
she's young, she has to build strength to make it look smoother. =)
i'm a boy and i like it to see ballett and i wanted to dance balletl but for me it is
embarrassed to my friends. i wish i can dance ballett.
i like the echape combo its fun
when they echape (may not be able to spell!) when they lower or close hardly any of them lower their heels completely
Is what they were doing at the beginning some kind of tondu??
do ballet!! i want my little bro to do ballet but he is "scared too too so dont let ur friends stop u!
@danceforeternity112 their pointe is not bad at all
dude. u need to do it. have u yet??? cause there is seriosly not many guys who want to do ballet. and if u start and u LOVE it, its easier for guys to become profs because theres not many guy dancers in the world!!!
WONDUFULL!!JUST NEED MORE ENERGY!!
I want a balletsuite like that! I've been searching for one forever. Somebody knows were to buy these?
oh thanks i think about it
@ObscuraLupa That's what I hate about my ballet class-as a percussionist, I focus on the rhythm and beats, while the girls with amazing technique look inexperienced because they don't know when to do anything.
perfect
mt teacher now used to teach at penn.
My Ukrainian ballet teacher would stick his finger in his ear and wiggle it around when girls went off tempo as to say "Is there something stuck in your ear not letting you hear the music?"
where can I buy this Dvd?
is this cpyb?
I think the girl at 1:30 was hopping so much
cause when the asian one puts her foot back into first position, she puts her heel in first and THEN her toes...causing her to wiggle. she does have amazing turnout though.
Do you mean a grand jeté? a grand jeté is a leap, not a deep plié. I think you're talking about a grand plié.
5*****
Max 110 and cut on burgers, cheese, bread, chocolads, ice cream.
glissade =)
It looks as though her core needs a lot of work to keep herself pulled up.
you dont have to way 110 pounds, thats to little for your height. i know a lot of girls who way more than that and they are on pointe, so i dont beleive there is a specific weight amount to b on pointe.
OMGGG kristie haha
karin is arching her back too much!!
there jumping en pointe(not good)
glissade
mayb it's only my own opinion
but to say teh truth
i dont think they are gd...
they got big arches and stuff
but they're not using them fully...
i think they need to work out on turn out and upper body...
They have excellent technique....but they have no felling. They look like robots, so stiff!
i think they are good dancers however i think one of the dancer needs to stop sticking her butt out as much, it does make a difference to the posture.
are all these girls deaf? can't they hear the music? gosh.
russe!
their pointe is horrible.
oh thanks i think about it
