Thank you Martin for your kind words! It has truly been a labour of love uncovering the house and trying to look after the place! Maybe in the future we will be granted permission to continue! Thank you for doing your bit and bringing the viewers! It all helps to keep the memory of this remarkable place in the minds of everyone ♥️
Presumably you were given the old Cease and Desist because now some poor student Surveyor and an H&S Executive will have to carry out a new bloody annoying 'Risk Assessment' to save the owner's arse in case someone falls over your lovingly horizontally placed sandstone (?) blocks. Rather than the nightmare tsunami of shattered slate, glass, brick and ironmongery that overwhelms the site still.
@@JP_TaVeryMuch yes indeed.. it is understandable however the site was and always has been potentially dangerous frankly since demolition in the 50s hopefully but doubtful we will get permission to carry on!…. One can hope! However we got enough done to prove the house does still exist 🙏

Due to work commitments I only managed to come up to help out during the summer a couple of times but I'll be back if the green light is on,and I miss Lisa's bacon butties.🙂
Hello. I'm one of the people who have started to uncover the remains of the house. Thankyou very much for covering it. Unfortunately we have been stopped in our tracks and are not allowed to dig anymore.
I am so grateful for the work you guys are have done. Me and my girlfriend came round a few months ago and saw you guys uncovering and working on the place. It's beyond madness the council has stopped you from doing such an excellent job on the place. Absolute shame on Bradford Council, is there any way you can appeal the decision?? I really do hope you guys can continue in future to reclaim and preserve this site for all to enjoy and see. Thank you so much for what you have done. X
@@Blind_Haze it wasn't Bradford council who stopped us infact they was contacted and they said it is nothing to do with them. It's actually Barnett Waddingham Trustees that own the land and put a stop to it.
I struggle to understand how this could possibly be left as it is. To have it uncovered as much as possible and for people to be able to enjoy what was a magnificent house has to be the way to go. Let’s hope any red tape crap can be overcome and this be cleared and appreciated for what it is.
A fascinating place when you covered it before, but my word thats just been magnifed a hundred times since these kind folks have been and given the place some much needed tlc. Glad you went back and filmed it for us. Nice one Darren 👍
I don’t want to be a killjoy as I love seeing what’s been discovered and would be up for digging out more to see what’s there. However now it’s been uncovered it’s not protected. The remains have lasted because the soil prevented wind, frost, rain etc from damaging what remained. Now it’s open to the elements it becomes very vulnerable. A lot of what has been uncovered was never meant to be outside. Unless it’s properly protected the fantastic preservation will be destroyed and in the future when technology perhaps can rebuild or reconstruct there will be nothing left. Yes it’s educational to see it but it needs to be there for future generations to learn and to help them respect the past. Thank you Darren for your amazing videos. I never comment or push my views forward but I felt I had to say this.
It's great to see what has been uncovered. This site is too important to just leave as a pile of stones in the woods. Really enjoyed the video Darren, thanks and Cheers!
I went up tonight, twas brillig . . . Now would be a great time for a LIDAR survey, would show what is really there, and allow the plan view to be correlated with the site plan! Lots of white bricks stamped with the legend : 'CLIFFE'
Fascinating how and why its like this now. And again not being saved in a certain way to keep its history alive. So glad you have covered this Darren as I wouldn't have know about it.
I too am pleased it's been partially uncovered. I would have thought maybe the University would have got involved with an archaeological or historical dig of some sort.
What a beautiful house it was. When I was a kid "a few years back" there was a TV show called "If These Walls Could Talk," The MILNER FIELD MANOR RUINS would have been a perfect episode for the show. Darren, you just walk out your front door and fall in a world of local history..... Thanks for posting......
Fantastic that you re-visited and filmed the work that has been done . Is great to see this amazing architecture that has been hidden for so long . Buildings like this need to properly cleaned so that the public can see them . Does need more work on as the earth work may well make the trees that have grown dangerous . Really needs a full works done on it . Great vid as always Darren .
Wow, so much changed since your last visit. Some phenomenal work has been done there and I really can't get my head around how anyone wouldn't want this to be done. What a massive part of the history of STS and his World Heritage Site. This should absolutely be allowed to continue.
WOW - they have done a lot of work. I, like you am pleased they have done this work on the site. Can't imagine why those who oppose it don't agree. Well done once again .
Amazing amount of work, sensitively done by the looks of it. I agree, better uncovered than left under mounds of earth. It could form the basis for further excavation and maybe a garden area at some future date.
Brilliant video. I love places like this. I hope permission will be granted to continue clearing the site so we can all enjoy exploring this bit of Victorian history.
Seeing the huge number of bricks among the ruins demonstrates how the rich saved money by building much of their fancy piles in red brick, then facing it with stonework.
Hey, I wasn't expecting a video today as well as a piss-up or, I mean, meet up! And I do like these "If you go down to the woods today" type videos, especially when they contain the big surprises that you bring, Darren!
The house boating lake, now drained is just below and you can still see the dam wall and sluice gate where it was breached. It’s off to the right of the main downhill track and fed by a stream that passes under the old road. There was a boat house or pavilion but I haven’t found the remains yet. Great videos. Thank you.
Brilliant update video Darren. And totally agree with you, would love to see that uncovered completely, and get a sense of the grandeur of the house and layout.
Brilliant Darren. That’s terrible they are not allowed to dig anymore. .Why we ask? Watched your previous video with Martin but will watch it again. Thanks again this was amazing.
7:10 The Waterworks stopcock may well have controlled the often >3" hot waterpipes that heated The Orangery. These were not just conservatories, nor Glasshouses for Citrus fruits, but were a summer ballroom. I've been exceeding lucky to have gatecrashed the odd 21st in a couple.
I agree with your sentiments, much better to see things properly. I remember your visit with Martine Zero, Martin was visibly affected by what he saw and felt.
Great video, thank you! Sad to see the building be demolished out of its beauty, but great to see more of it from the excavation. If only they kept it before or rebuilt it one day haha (won't happen). Saltaire would be twice as popular if it was still standing.
Glad its getting uncovered ,, I'm so coming back there summer to check this out now uncovers, cant wait 👍🇬🇧❤😀 mate I'm amazed how much as been uncovered
Hi Darren. This is great to see that they've cleared so much to leave walls and detail like this .I'm still curious to why it was demolished in the first place.
14:20 Sorry, me again. This is yer classic nobs' defence mechanism. Called a "HaHa!" it kept the livestock in the Parkland whilst being invisible from inside, giving the impression of seemlessness. Ha ha! is meant to be what you exclaimed when you came across it for the first time.
As another so called haunted house, was Heath Old Hall on Heath common, Wakefield. Was a place as a young un to go poking around the abandoned Hall, hoping to see a Ghost and terrified if we did. No idea whether its still there. Would be interesting to know. Might have a interesting story.
It must be the location. Something on that land said nope to people living there. So much so that the house and grounds were utterly destroyed, looks like a bomb hit.
Darren, is this part of your explore of Shipley Glen series? I will have to check out yours/MartinZ Explore of the Milner Field as i haven't seen it before. The colab with Mz i have seen was the Saltaire exploration. I have good child memories of riding up the Glen railway to the fun fair and tea rooms (with Peacocks) up by the craggs. I have mentioned it all in your other posts about Saltaire and the Glen. It was a popular event for walkers, family groups to walk from the Glen cafe to Ilkley over the Ilkley Moor either Easter Monday or maybe Whitsuntide Monday. I wonder if any others can remember this happening? Cheers DougT

Or cement render made to look like stone!
It's not about saving money, it's standard construction. Nobody uses architectural stonework for internal wall construction.
How sad to read that this Labour of love has been stopped. Why. This is history that was vandalised. Let the work continue.

I absolutely love this. Brilliant stuff. Such a pity they had a cease and desist order imposed. Wonder if there could ever be an official 'dig'?
People were removing parts of it and stonework etc without permission from what I can understand
Is it volunteers uncovering this building. Love the creepy music.
Yes we was only doing it for the love of the house and the history.
Isn't it strange that we build great buildings, knock them down, then investigate them years later.
I spotted one of those dino sized Spiders in that hole from the cellar of the last video here 😊
So interesting! Love the history Daz.

This is fascinating! When they demolished it, they just left all that masonry lying around?
Yeah. They used it for grenade practice
