Hello, I have a problem, I set it to "default mono" and already downloaded some mods, and when I click play I get this "Error: Could not find game directory". Suggestion I set up the Outward Definitive directory on the Settings screen and I don't know what to do. Obviously I use thunderstore and I have followed all your steps but it doesn't work for me and I was wondering if you or someone here knew how to solve this problem.

When I open R2modman and try to start the game through "Start modded" the game does not open and a message appears saying that it was not possible to find the installation location of the game "Outward Definitive edition". I enter the r2modman settings to change the location and the program does not allow me to make this change. Do you know how to help me? I thank.
how do i actually play with the mod? cant find any answers anywhere, everyone tells you how to download them, but not how to actually play with them. None of the mods are on when i start game as told in video, its normal vanilla. Can one guide for gods sake actually add in the "settings" "loactions" for the directory? First i got error on "change outward definitive directory". I somehow was able to fix that on my own, and could finally start game using "Start modded". But then when game starts its vanilla and no mods. I looked at the "change data folder directory", where the actuall mods are stored, and it was on a file that had no connections to the actuall game steam file, so i tried changing it, but it said the file had to be "Empty" so i made a new file calling it mods in the steam outward definition location. Still when i start game the mods dosent exist. What am i doing wrong? Where should the actuall mods be installed for it to work? None of the guides talks about the "location" on settings in thunerstore.
First, download on the correct Harddrive/StorageDisk where the game is located. Next 3:12 & 3:31 Finally, never move folders, reinstall them instead; moving a single thing breaks everything. Besides that, its just skill issue tbh. Im 1 year late so hopefully you got it fixxed instead of giving up.
Hey Guys. im Struggeling with the same some of the people here do.. Unable to locate Outward Definitive Installation Directory... There is no Definitive edition folder for me. (This does not exist: Outward_Defed ) I even Changed the exe Name into "Outward Definitive Edition.exe" but still it wont accept it telling me its wrong or start the modmanager as an administrator. What doesnt change anything. makes me kinda sad

Hi! I have a question about mixing between mods from Thunderstore and Nexus. If there is mod on Nexus that is not available on Thunderstor can i add it somehow to the DE game without breaking something in files? And if so. Okay i have to ask this is there a way to alter settings on modded? I play on. If you have the mod configuration mod it has most of the mods on it. I think its F5? Other than that you would be able to check in the r2modmanager itself of course.
Doesn't work...its start normally. But when the titlescreen should show up, theres only a blackscreen with the titlescreen music in the background. I tried everything that could fix this issue. but nothing works...
Hey, guys! Can someone help me? I’ve been having this weird issue. 1) After installing R2 , when I run the Modded Game, for some reason my char is stuck in this weird position, with both arms open. I cannot move, although I’m able to access the map, inventory and menu. Mods seem to be working. 2) I tried to join a friend’s game, with default-mono. His game is modded. But I’m stuck into the “positioning players”, in the loading screen. Do you have any idea how to fix this? I’ve try many things, reinstalled the game and R2 many times.
Downloaded the Thunderstore modmanager and linked the game to my definitive edition, how do I access the mods in game, is there supposed to be a menu or something. This is after making the default mono change that I didnt have at first thinking it would fix it.
I used the thunder mod downloader and it does not let me play it. Says I need to find and manually set the outward directory but the file is not there.
I don't know for sure, but you may need to check the settings and when you look at the directory find the file where Outward DE icon is. It may not exactly show you where that's at but that's where the file needs to end.

I am not really sure to be honest. I know that there is a setting in the game itself you can change to disable and enable the combat hud. Maybe it got checked off in the process of installing mods? Should be on the first page when you enter settings. Sorry I can't be of more help.
No you should not need to restart. Make sure that mono branch is active as that is a pretty common issue. Also, there are a few mods you must have such as the few I mentioned. Without those mods don't work. Sorry I can't be of more help here.
Hi! Does this technically work for the non-definitive edition? I went through all the same steps, execpt for clicking on the normal Outward at 2:07, but it just doesn't make the mods happen in-game. Looking at the mod on the website, there does not seem to be a distinction between the versions, any help would be nice, good video overall!
Yes this should still be the same process for non-definitive edition. Double check you turned on the mono branch. And then maybe reselect the Outward folder. R2modman should have some folders and if the file location isn't Outward it will not work properly.
Mods for non-definitive are old versions of mods for DE, you have to check correct versions based on date on your own (You can cross-reference correct date with a modding page on a wiki)
I am having some difficulty...😅 Just wanna play with 3 buds but Idk why I am havin so much issue. So i did all the steps but when I open the ga.e no mod manager opens with it. So i dont even know how to activate the multiple player option. I clicked f5 seems like there install, but idk. I have another hard drive where all my steam games is dl, and redirect it there. Im thinkin thats the issue? Any help would be appreciated!

I am not sure tbh. You could try going to the settings in r2modmanager and selecting the "Change Outward Definitive Directory". Make sure the end of this says Outward definitive edition. Got it working. Turns out my installation was all wrong and I was playing Std when I tought I was in Definitive. Reinstalled and was able to tranfer the character over to Definitive. Thanks for all the help.
This means you need to check the settings in r2modman. You should see directory and might need to go into there and select the definitive edition folder. For some people it just didn't select the correct one.
So I've gotten to the end and done everything to the letter the one hiccup is the program can't find the game and when I try changing the location it doesn't want to recognize it.

Make sure in the r2modman settings for outward it has the directory selected on definitive edition. it likes to select the old version and that doesn't' work.

Well I can try to help a bit. I know the Outward discord has a much better handle on this but here are a few things. -Make sure to start modded in mod manager -Select settings in mod manager, check Outward Definitive directory and make sure it ends in Outward Definitive Edition. -Make sure Outward is on the mono branch. I unfortunately don't have any more advice than this as I just got into mods. If you are looking for a place to get mods to work the outward discord has a section dedicated for mods and people know their stuff there. Hopefully they will be able to help you out.
I am not sure how to help here. Maybe try uninstalling and then doing it again? Could be that the download process got a little messed up or something.
@@SheenShots It was actually something super simple (and partly my fault, go figure.). I selected the wrong version of outward in the menu, and I was using the Thunderstore Mod Manager instead of r2modman. For some reason, that actually makes a difference despite them basically being the exact same thing. Great vids btw, I've been checking through a bunch of your guides recently, and they've helped out a ton.
Your saves should not change at all. What happened for me was I kept all my saves, but if I opened a modded character in regular Outward my modded skills and items would just be missing.
Well glad I was able to fix it for you. Occasionally the download process has messed with a few people and that mono thing is easy to miss. Good luck running the mods! There are lots of cool ones.
@@SheenShots I also seen t someone uploaded a mod pack on the thunder store, is it safe to use a mod pack like that, I already beat the game a few times on ps5 I got it on pc to try and see how much better it could be
I don't play through there, so I don't know for sure. I think it works very similarly but you need to choose epic games instead of steam when r2modman brings up the option.
@@SheenShots please try it, although one of my advice is, don't treat it as a souls game, it's totally different, and game gets better the more you play it, early game is hard, so follow a build guide, it's basically farming, experimenting frenzy once you reach end game, bc you can reset skills/re-spec easily, it's heck tonnof fun building your own build and experimenting, my go to game for fun time, basically never touched other games since I've found nioh 2 With all of the video I've watch from your channel, i think you gonna like the game, finger crossed
In order to run the mods I went to Rmodman. I downloaded the mods from thunderstore. You will need to make sure that mono branch is active as it doesn't' work otherwise, and you must start Outward from R2modman in order for the mods to actually work.
I am not 100% sure on that tbh. Outward does have its own discord and there are some people in the mods channel there that could definitely help you if you are still looking for info.
Any idea how this impacts multiplayer function for the game? I know raid mode is fine for MP but I wasn't sure if the others caused issues for it. Thanks!
You are able to interact with other players with little to no issues. This of course means you both have the same mods active and don't overload with a ton of them. But I played with 7 or 8 of them on the other day in 3 player coop. No issues expect for dead bodies acting a bit weird on the third persons lower end PC. As long as you guys both have the mod it runs pretty smoothly.

make sure you have the mono branch beta selected on steam, might help im not sure

I didn't know too much about the mod scene in Outward but now I wish there was mods on console
There are quite a few of them and each adds something pretty unique to the game.
I got stuck at the end tried to play modded and it says it couldn't find the file, I just downloaded it off steam

Yes, when I hop into do mods this is still up and running for me. And there are loads of things you can mess with making mods really cool overall.

I like the skill trainers who are in the wild. You just find them in areas that maybe aren't super important otherwise.
My game actually crashes on startup after getting most of this setup. Not sure why, I only have the mods you showed at 3:33.

Mods will work in coop if both of you have the same mods downloaded. If in split screen is should work as normal.

Can you play online whit a friend using mods?
Yes you can as long as both of you have the same mods. (Combat hud can be used even if the other person doesn't have it though.)

Any idea how this impacts multiplayer function for the game? I know raid mode is fine for MP but I wasn't sure if the others caused issues for it. Thanks!
You are able to interact with other players with little to no issues. This of course means you both have the same mods active and don't overload with a ton of them. But I played with 7 or 8 of them on the other day in 3 player coop. No issues expect for dead bodies acting a bit weird on the third persons lower end PC. As long as you guys both have the mod it runs pretty smoothly.
