I could listen to this all day long! This song has a very special meaning for me
When my Mama passed away from breast cancer it devastated me. I only had 6 short years with my mom and we were inseparable. One of the things we shared was our love for the older hymns. When she died, I found myself singing this song to myself, a song I had not sang for more than 25 years. I could not get it out of my mind. We had to drive fro Virginia to Michigan for her funeral and during the graveside service, the Minister recited the words of this song! I had not shared the fact that I kept singing this song to anyone. But I was shocked! In my heart I am positive that this song was sent to my heart as a comfort, my Mama telling me the she was alright, that I didn't need to grieve so hard. That was 27 years ago and to this day, when I hear this song, I remember the love my mama and I had and I smile. I play this song every night. Thank you Chris Rupp for giving me such a blessed gift.💖 Best wishes.
Chris, My Mother just passed and at her Funeral we played this song as we released the doves. It was absolutely amazing. Thank you for your beautiful voice and choices of music. God Bless.

This was one of my teachers favorite hymn. Her name was Ellen Burge. She passed a number of years of ALS. She was welled loved by many. Thank you for this and the sweet memories of a former teacher.

God gave me a dream once where I met him in a garden and there was a beautiful orange tree with large juicy looking oranges. God in the dream was the gardener and I asked him if I could pick some of the oranges. I never forget it because he looked at me quite seriously and said "You can have the fruit as long as you don't waste it." Just like that. Not enjoy it or as long as you eat it, but as long as you don't waste it. Anyway, felt led to share that. Beautiful video all round.❤❤❤

Chris, You shine! This is an old time favorite, and I've never heard it performed, or arranged this way. However, I like it! It's new, but I still hear some of the old time nuances in there, that makes it unmistakably the same song. Your solo is clear, compelling and shows the auditory acuity of your voice. Love it!

Chris, played this at my husbands funeral last week. Spent almost a week for the perfect rendition (this one). I have been subscribed to you and 7th Ave (and have almost all your CD's (7th Ave, Chris Rupp, Home Free [pre and post Chris], but for some reason couldn't remember it was your version, guess just not thinking straight. I played this over and over and over on the piano (and sang along, of course) as teen/young adult - the Reader's Digest Hymnbook version.* ahem 35-or-so years ago.. ;) * This was a lovely arrangement and some super-lovely vocals, Chris. I truly admire how you can do ALL THE PARTZ! lol Because "back in the day", I had to sing with my sister and two cousins to get such wonderful voice blending! Ha! Totally agree. Your ability was hidden to a great extent in Home Free. I do miss you hugely from them but you did make the right decision. You are now able to 'rise' and 'shine' in a different way and in 'a new day' and in a new way...

Who's singing?
Okay, point of curiosity. Why is it so many A Capella songs are sung flat? Perhaps with the harmony rather than the melody? I love a good A Capella but don't enjoy that style at all. And this particular song has an especially beautiful original melody.
P.S. The word Capella is misspelled in the title.
Sung flat? Not sure what you mean - everything in this is perfectly in tune from a technical standpoint. And nope, this is how A Cappella is spelled, according to the Italian. The Latin version is one p, but that's not commonly used at all.
@@ChrisRuppOfficial Okay, then clearly US spelling is off. At any rate, the tune. Listen to Tennessee Ernie Ford singing this and maybe you'll see what I mean. Please bear in mind, my ears are aging and I listen with fairly decent headphones so maybe I pick it up differently. Even so, TEF's version sounds true to my ears.
