Really looks great! I think a good idea would be to install a power strip, (w.circuit breaker), so all the components, laser, fan, lights can be plugged in and you only have one hole for the power system.
Nice project! I'm getting a laser engraver and I'm searching some enclosures to copy :) A little tip on the edge tape, it is easier to keep it intact if you shear it with the blunt edge of the knife, instead of cutting with the sharp edge.
Hi Gene, great job on the laser enclosure. Also looks like a good place to store the laser engraver in when not in use! Yes, I like the link RUclips added. Good job, God bless! PS loved the ending with the pizza! Looks like a fine young man!
Thanks Dan! I thought about putting that closer to the beginning because more people might see it. But I thought it fit there and was kinda a fun Easter egg. Lol. Thanks for watching.
I enjoyed your video. I often "learn as I go" with using unfamiliar materials. It's great that you make a point of eye and ear protection, but what about your lungs. Particle board dust is nasty. Pardon me if someone has already mentioned this. Finished project looks great! Even with the educational chips. :-)
The angle clip were your best idea. Gluing MDF is not secure because MDF just shreds at the glue joint. It does not even hold a screw very well. Edging Is best cut with an edge trimmer made for that application.
Turned out functional even with few mishaps - I think you always think oh i could have done something different once you complete a project I agree the white edge strip is no fun without a proper trimmer i resorted to a sharp blade the draw filing T-Moulding would be another option - it provide a robust edgeing - it fit into a slot cut in the edge Just a Question Is the orange plastic you used a special type or just a special color tint plexiglass/acrylic
I really wish I would have used T molding. The plastic is just a translucent color that matches the glasses and the shelf of the laser. But I feel it works well. Thanks for watching.
lol, I had so much fun watching this with your "dumb idea" comments. Mistakes are learning moments and you could have made a completely new video but instead you chose to show them, that's gutsy, lol. BTW, did you make that music tune? Thanks for the video Gene, always fun learning new stuff with your sense of humor. Hugs from Belgium, Daniella.
Thanks Daniella, I defiantly made this project much harder than it needed to be. But in the end I did end up with a very usable enclosure and maybe helped a few folks with not making my mistakes LOL. Yes I put the music together in GarageBand, I hope it's not too obnoxious. As always thanks again for watching.
IF you measure from the top of the honeycomb piece to the top of the the lid what is it with no leg entensions on the laser I want to mount a camera inside and want to make sure there is enough room for the camera?

@@Spetznatz01, Excellent suggestion. Thanks for watching.
Thanks for making this video. I like the fact that you include the things that didn’t go so well.
Thank you. It is much easier than I managed to make it. Thanks again for watching.
As usual, well done Gene 🤩. You make me laugh😂 with your dump ideas.
if I can screw up a project, that would be me!
This is a real nice project I like it
Thanks Robert.
Your front window bend is a great idea, I'll have to incorporate it in my box design.
Thanks so much for watching.
Thanks for sharing this. I hadn't thought of using shelves to make an enclosure out of. Something to look at next time.
I wanted to come up with a really simple design. Then I complicated the heck out of it. LOL. Thanks for watching.
Thanks for the video. I'm looking for something for my LM3. The orange plastic you purchased, can you give more details about it?
I have used a tiny plane for trimming edging square! It still takes some care, but its much easier!
That is an excellent suggestion. Thanks for sharing and for watching.
Ya tienes un suscriptor nuevo. Soy de Valencia Spain.
Way cool project, Gene. And, you make learning so entertaining! Still grinning about "dumb ideas." 😂
Thanks Charmaine. I sure can take something that should be so simple and complicate the heck out of it.
great video!! love it!!

Thats good to know, because I sure struggled with the edging material. Thanks for watching.
Nice informative / entertaining video : )
Thanks so much for watching!

Hi Bob, Are you still on the road in your RV? Sounds like fun. Thanks so much for watching! Be safe on the road and God Bless.
lol.. love the end.. the pizza zipper and your son goes and gets pizza out of it!.. lol that was good!!
Thanks Dan! I thought about putting that closer to the beginning because more people might see it. But I thought it fit there and was kinda a fun Easter egg. Lol. Thanks for watching.
@@DIYGene anytime.. I always enjoy your videos and makes.. even if it isn't star wars.. lol 😂😂😁😁👍👍 hope you are having a wonderful day so far.
They do make edge banding trimmers for the trim.. They are easy and make it look great. Great video going to use it as the base for my new engraver!
Thanks so much for watching.

You are right. I definitely use it with MDF but particle board is just as bad. Thanks for watching.
Hello, nice video, thanks for sharing. One question, how is it going with the extraction system with the 4" Duck inline fan 76 CFM?
@@gleztj1 , it handles it great and is not noisy. Thanks for watching.

Did you get the plastic from Norva Plastics, or did they just do the bending? Can you put a link to the plastic sheet as well?
What are these 'inches'? What year is this, have I gone back in time?
What size was the acrylic sheet? And where was the bend?
It is 1/8” thick 24” wide and 20” tall with a 90 bend at 8”. Giving you an 8” front and 12” top. I hope that helps. Thanks for watching.
@@DIYGene thank you! This is such a great build. Thank you for the video!
The piece of MDF used for the bottom in this project is it 1/2in or 3/4in? Thanks great video.
It is 1/2”. Sorry I should have made that clear. Thanks for watching.

that tune is so "catchy" that I find myself humming it... it's that good!

How big is the camera? I think you have room.
@@DIYGene I don't have one yet but I know they have a minimum distance it needs to be from the honeycomb surface.
@@DIYGene It's just one of those Raspberry PI cameras I'm looking at getting.
@@danielprovenzano163 , I just checked. It’s 14.5”. I hope that helps.
is it for sale?
You could make it cheaper than it would cost to ship it. Plus you would probably do a better job. Thanks so much for watching.
