"You know, this is really what I try to do every day as an artist : to make objects that you can't make any judgements about."

How convenient, a statement like that shifts any judgement b/c we all know what judgement these would get. It's a cop out, " I say it has meaning, I created it, and it can't be judged". Coming from a guy who put basketballs in a fish tank, or the balloon dogs, or the vacuum cleaners, How are people so gullible? He is a good sales/con man though, for that I'll give him props. He takes full advantage of the "there's a sucker born everyday" moniker.

Koons is a lot like Steve Jobs, only even less talented.
I know you're not suppose to speak bad about the departed, but it's a good comparison.
Jobs didn't do much. He stole a bunch of ideas/tech from different places, surrounded himself with talented people that worked their ass off for him and in the end, each year, took all the glory. He fooled the whole freaking world that he was this genius. Does it sound similar?
At least Jobs produced crap every year or so, that in a short period of time was absolet, put aside, forgotten.
This Koons character managed to fool the world that his TRASH is art, so his garbage will live for much longer.
Do you think he has nightmares that everyone will one day wake up to the realisation that his 'art' is just a bunch of already made objects that someone else arranges in another way for him, so HE can call it art? Oh wait. He's a multi millionaire already, so he probably sleeps just fine.

You could say the same thing about Walt Disney but bringing talented people together, organize them and make them produce something that would never be produced otherwise is also an achievement.
