I could listen to them talk for 50 hours straight. The combination of Desiree trying to break through by telling stories that speak her truth, while on the other hand Chloe with an amazing successful career and all that she's learned along the way (50 films???). Just goes to show how difficult in can be to show new perspectives and new voices in the industry, there's still much work to be done. Both extremely talented, they truly inspire me.
The thing Desiree said about nobody wanting to spend their money on new ideas is true in every aspect of the entertainment industry. I’m a songwriter in Nashville and I’ve done work with Warner Bros. and it’s the same exact thing. Country music is a joke now because all that gets on the radio are the songs about beer, girls, and trucks. People don’t get to hear the thousands of beautifully written and performed songs because the major labels with substantial distribution power aren’t interested in the gamble. It’s so obvious that Hollywood has the same problem. That’s why all of the giant studios keep pumping out sequels and remakes that have already proven they have the ability to get people off of their couch and spend money in the theater. The bright side is it’s getting easier for artists to get their projects out there on their own because there are so many different platforms like RUclips.
As someone who is currently going to Queen Mary University in London, it's great that a graduate from 11 years ago could eventually go on to make an important, well received film.
