I love Safa and Karma! Ammar comes across as a charming man whom I wanted to like because Karma likes him, but his values seem oppressive. #LetKarmaDance
hi, it is so much fun to re-watch the show with you, too! you are adorable people. Just a few notes: 1) I do think the production was also playing a lot with "the arab men" stereotyping here. You will see this in the next episodes. A lot of weird editing and narratives, where you don't know really know, what really happened, but people are mad at each other... and also keep in mind, that when they are om vacation, they will be in separate rooms and most probably they wont have a chance to be intimate with each other. I watch LIB religiously in all country, and as an arab who grew up in EU, this is such a pleasure for me to watch and to see how they reliaze it, but I have to mention, that if you film a bunch of very man and women, who have been flirting for days and then they meet and they have all that horniness for each other lol but they have to sleep in separate rooms - you will have to accept drama. I just wanted to give you a heads-ups, because I believe, considering the current situation and how arabs are being dehumanized in general, we should keep our eyes open to those important details. Alao, Mohammaed, turned out to be Palestinian and the Netflix production really tried to hide that fact, until social media found out.
That's a shame. That they hid his ethnicity. Just ridiculous. In what kind of world are we living these days ... 🙄 Thanks for sharing your insight with us!
I felt so bad for Kareem, especially when he said he was numb 😢I hope he's doing better now I like Safa & Mohammad - they seem so good together. For some reason, I teared up watching your reaction to them meeting. I'm curious to see how Asma and Khattab get on together. I like them both The flower pass along between Yasmine, Simo and Hagar was amusing Chafiq and Dounia are adorable together I agree with you that it seems like they all are serious about getting married. Like one of them mentioned, its a not a game. I appreciate your comments about how this version is not dissimilar from others and how the way they dropped all the episodes at once affects how it is received/perceived and how respectful you are regarding the differences in culture ❤
Membriash - In Arab cultures, cheek kisses, forehead kisses, hugs etc are generally fine But kissing/snogging is avoided on TV generally because Arab cultures are more conservative generally. That's not to say they wouldn't snog or show PDA in their personal life - they may do! But not on TV likely.
It's better to watch it with subtitles rather than dubs. Not only do you get to learn a new language and experience the diversity of conversations as contestants navigate between three or more languages, which is fascinating to see, but it's also more accurate.
I wasn't sure if I'd make the time to watch Habibi but I wanted to be able to have an opinion to share with you. I liked this version a lot. It was quite messy In the middle) but also successful I guess. I like the modesty and the family values. Happy to be able to rewatch with you!
They sort of went over it fairly quickly, but Safa said something about not remembering her childhood and about moving around a lot. I was just quite surprised the conversation was like "yeah of course", and I'm like "what?" But I wonder if it's because she's been Kuwait originally and war made dissociation a normal experience for kids in that time period. Which is kind of a big thing if it's the case, like culturally. A whole country's generation who don't remember their childhood.
And sorry, if that comes across ignorant. I'm from Finland and then Australia, so I've very little idea what was going on in the early 90s, but remember there was war in Kuwait. So, my curiosity is if the target audience of LIB Habibi would just immediately know what Safa was talking about, and that's why it wasn't explained. I absolutely love watching the international seasons of LIB and Ultimatum, but I wish they came with little pop-ups explaining cultural moments "Dear white westerners..." etc
"The US season 7 is like "who wants to be an influencer? Who wants to quit their day job?" Well, we know who, right? 😄 Not to be too mean but it starts with an "H" and ends with an "annah" 🤣
We 100% watch it subbed, we just found when doing Brazil that we alienated quite a bit of our viewers that more just listen because they couldnt follow, and since English is the unifying language of membriash we find it easier to edit and post the dubbed version. I agree with you though, its way better subbed
We’ll get back on it soon! We took a lighter schedule these last two weeks prioritizing health and enjoying some very seasonal mushroom foraging while it lasts
I don’t mean to disrespect, just wondering…(not native speaker,I live in Europe), some americans, like the lady in this video, speak with a certain accent, rather a noise…the kardashians do it too. it’s really annoying! 🫢 again, sorry, I don’t mean to disrespect.
This technique is called 'vocal fry' and in the past it was actually used by male news anchors a lot. It used to be considered a trustworthy way of speaking. Today it is most commonly seen in Millennials. Greetings from Europe, as well.
@@JustAnEmptyCageGirl interesting, so they speak from their throat, rather from the chest and make this sound after every word. I only noticed it in women/gay men from California so far.
She's aware and they actually addressed it in a video recently. She can't do anything about it (well, she could but it would take a lot of time and effort and I don't think she cares enough to adjust based on what I remember them saying)❤️
@@Hola_ola_28 No need to be rude. I enjoyed the creator's video, that's why I watched. I have mysophonia, so I am very sensitive to sound and noises. So yes, I find it annoying, but at the same time I know the creator isn't doing it intentionally. I was actually curious to know more about that specific accent or way of talking. you should learn to tolerate questions and other points of view. peace!
I love how culturally respectful you both are. THANK YOU!!!
Agreed 💯💯💯
I LOOOOOOOOOVE how open minded and respectful you are to other cultures. I'm truly touched by your kindness and wish nothing but the best for you two.
God bless you for doing habibi as well!!🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
I love Safa and Karma! Ammar comes across as a charming man whom I wanted to like because Karma likes him, but his values seem oppressive. #LetKarmaDance
Ammar has a lot of red flags, him not wanting his woman to publicly bellydance, I can understand tho.
Watching with you guys is soooo much better than watching by myself! Love your channel :)

They ARE watching it with subtitles but for the videos/reviews they watch the dubbed versions, so viewers can also choose to only listen.
I also watch everything with subtitles. I totally agree with you. It is more authentic. And the voices match the faces etc. I love it. 😊
I was obsessed from Safa when i first saw her. I adore her. And I trust Mohammed.

The outro 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
You guys
Thank you for reacting to this ❤ I loved simo with yasmine 😢
Haha, I think we are collectively traumatized by LIB men. We saw too many of them turn out horrible.
Also ... It's insane how beautiful Safa is.
The production team crushed it on the handling of the proposals and the reveals in this show. The US version better take notes.
