  • This tutorial will show you how to crochet a very easy baby sun hat. This summer hat is a suitable project for beginners.
    For size 0 - 6 months use a 4mm crochet hook
    For size 6 - 12 months use a 4.5mm crochet hook
    For size 1 - 2 years use a 5mm crochet hook
    For size 2 - 3 years use a 5.5mm crochet hook
    For size 3 - 4 years use a 6mm crochet hook
    For my hat I used a 5mm crochet hook and Drops Lima yarn (DK weight).

    Great hat, easy pattern! Thank you! I am making one for a one year old and used a cotton #4 weight yarn. After completing almost with recommended size hook, I realized it would be too big, so I went down a hook size. I hope it fits this little girl, because I truly love this hat. May add a matching flower. Thank you!

      Hi! I am planning to make this for a 1 year old too! What hook size do you recommend so it’s not too big?

      Thanks for the extra info! Do you think a 3 weight yarn would work with the video's recommended hook sizes?

    hey can you add something to your list? I recently saw a hat that had been extended down to the shoulders so it covered the neck. thought that would be great for a new baby! I think it's called a scoodie. would love to see you do a video for that! : ))

    My daughter is 7 months and I had to add in so many squares and use a bigger hook than this explained.... I love the idea though so I'm gonna just see how I can tweak it

  • @lilabigail8869

    Is it necessary to cut the yarn and reattach? Would it work to just continue in rounds?

    • @woolywonderscrochet7586
      @woolywonderscrochet7586  7 лет назад +2

      You could work it in continuous rounds by working slip stitches at the end of each round until you reach the correct space that you need to start working your next round in. I hope this makes sense! x

  • @viktoriabrown4310

    What yarn can I use instead of this cause I do not think I can get it in Canada in Michaels. I only buy yarn there. Can i use acrylic or cotton? I understand the material name not some sort of brand and stuff. I completely do not understand what is written there for yarn material. IS that wool is that acrylic is that cotton? What is it made of? What can I substitute it with?

  • @clr124
    @clr124 6 лет назад +1

    if I wanted to make it for an older child 5-6 yrs would a larger hook work, or repeating round 3 a few more times?

    • @viktoriabrown4310
      @viktoriabrown4310 6 лет назад

      I wouldn't suggest repeating round. I was making one sun hat for a 4-year-old and in one video it said for 3-5 years old kids and so I made it, but it will fit no more than a 1 year old child. I tried to make it again adding one more tiny raw in the beginning of double crochetting into each stich all the way around and the hat turned out to be biglike for adult, but short like for a kid. It also was too wavy and its form was lost. So I will be pulling it apart soon.
