The Sotho tribe not only limited to Lesotho, but also originate and occupy some parts of SA too.
Yeah with loadshedding you can buy your own back ups but with the water shortages that something that's harder to avoid. I have to keep lots of 5 liter bottles stored. Also, always keeping water in your tub helps as well. In the future when I buy a house here the goal is to have my own electricity and water.
Milky water after maintenance is normal. It's air dissolved in the water that makes it milky as the air comes out of being dissolved when the pressure drops back to atmospheric pressure. Leave that water for 30-60 seconds and all the air comes out and the water is clear again. Go back to drinking tap water in Johannesburg. No need to waste money and bugger up the environment with all the bottles. Great video. Excellent insights from a "visitor". You got the just of things spot on.
The crime rate is something that would put me off living in SA. My brother had a terrible incident in CPT which has scared me off. I would rather consider Kenya, Rwanda or Angola.
You compare south africa to other countries to be fair south africa as a country is 30 years old, so black americans cant expect everything to be perfect in just under 30 years. Its surprising that you dont get a lot of youtube videos about countries like nigeria or kenya that are way older than south africa.
No one is expecting it to be perfect, even the best of countries aren’t perfect. You can acknowledge a country has pros as well as cons as every country does. And there’s loads of videos on Nigeria and Kenya, but they aren’t as popular nomad/expat destinations which is what the video is about

Although much younger in terms of colonisation - Rhodesia next door to SA had a shared history with the only difference being , Rhodesia was a self governed British colony, and was just as efficiently run as any first world country , with the second largest white population in Africa…and just as multicultural as SA . Robert Mugabe’s 37 year’s of misrule destroyed the bread basket of Africa - Zimbabwe/Rhodesia….South Africa seemed to be going down that same disastrous road…NGU has probably saved SA for now.
@@KingOfBlankes You need to do your homework- Mugabe violently seized White farms and the few black commercial owned farms - farmers and their black employees were tortured, raped and murdered by the Mugabe - WHY ? because all those Farmers and their employees and more than half the country had just voted in a referendum not to seize the land , that was the first time ZANU PF lost a referendum despite trying to rig the vote - every Zimbabwean who started supporting the new opposition party were victims of Mugabe’s brutality…. many of those commercial farms were givens to ministers , highly ranked army and police officials… and that was the beginning of the end and the birth of a rogue international Pariah and Banana republic state.

Tap water is safe to drink in south africa. Even that milky water is safe. We hardly buy bottled water here. Anyway a lot of people cant afford bottled water.
The water chemical you just poured on your sink, the milky one, is the one that makes water to be safe, and if you pour it in your glass you'll realize that it turns into colorless again, you can check with your local municipality to see what rank do they place their water quality, had it been brown or beige colour I would recommend water bottle in that case but the milky one is safe
You can still drink that tap water even if its milky. Its perfectly fine and clears up within seconds in your cup. It usually does that when there has been no water in the reservoirs and the pressure to push water to homes has been increased causing the pipes to have more air in them which then turns the water to look like that. Hope im making sense
A lot of the current GINI coefficient is due to white youngster's exclusion from jobs in South Africa . Many have taken up jobs all over the world and are hopping back and forth , 6 months in 6 months out .They are often "killing it" in the income levels . Ironically they have converted their "exclusion" to their great advantage . I know farmers , hair dressers , IT professionals , HR practitioners and any career you can think of . It is sad that they were excluded from working to grow South Africa , but they are not the ones suffering.
SA's labour force is still dominated by whites in high-growth sectors of the economy. "White flight" risk is anecdotal and fear-mongering nonsense. Truth is likely that they abhor equality. They should be last to complain about preferential hiring policies given how well it worked for them for centuries. They should be advocates IMO.
Well said. I had to start my own electrical company due to anc exclusion laws.I thank them each day as if it wasn't for their exclusion laws I would never have started such a successful company. Bring it on...pass some more exclusion laws.

Why do many people want to come to SA almost by any means whatsoever, if it's so "unequal?" Are there queues wanting to enter Zimbabwe, for instance. Opportunity exists here. We have it better than most. It's a good 1:56 . I'm glad South Africans are coming back. Actually, I think we South Africans are a bit spoilt!! Lots can be improved, though.
It is very unequal, Kevin. Yes, there are many who 'pretend' suffering, but I don't think we SEE enough deep enough into real poor rural areas, or deep into real poor townships to understand the intensity of hardship living there.
Hello. Thanks for your informative video. I have one question..... is the internet connection works when you have a backup power while the load shedding is going on..?

@@nkosi2828 Thanks for your response. Good to hear about the repair. I think it's always tough for a foreigner to come and set up to SA because of these disadvantages especially if you're a digital nomad and use internet for your job at home.

Great video well made and informative - however re drinking water I don't think that's a big con as most people do not drink tap water nowadays even in so called advanced cities liked London or parts of the U.S
Not more unequal than Venezuela, greater Russia, China, India. The difference is in some countries people work because there is work for them. In SA poor people have too many children per family, so they cannot progress. Those poor people move from rural areas to cities where the job oppertunities are saturated. Google the population growth during and after apartheid.
I think countries like Egypt, Cape Verde, Namibia, Tunisia, Mauritius, Australia, Mexico, New Zealand, Brazil and Seychelles are the most unequal countries by blacks are too scared to say anything 😢

Basotho are not south african but because when mining started in witwatersrand the whites employed migrant workers from surrounding countries including lesotho.
Well 50% of the population of South Africa are black kids. Every year there are more black babies born in South Africa than the total white population. How much money do you think black kids have? How much money can be added to each bkack kid born each year by generational wealth? Context is important.
Sort of balanced, but clueless about black history. The conversation with the Basuto and Venda ladies got close to the original rationale of apartheid, but the pervasive Marxist interpretation of south African history drowns out any rational debate.

Your video is more informative than most. However you miss a huge amount of information to do with the development of both the settlers and the indigenous peoples. Africans had no system of education and no method of recording their lives. That doesn't mean that they lack the ability. They where caught in a tribal system that brutalized women and lesser tribes and kept the power of forward movement locked up in an archaic mindset. That had nothing to do with the settlers. This caused a major gap between the settlers and Africans. (Most unequal is more complicated than your click-bait headline intimates). On the other hand the settlers looked after themselves as they had their own existential drama. Some where persecuted in Europe and others wanted better opportunities. In their own limited vision the they did not accept and share their knowledge in a compassionate manner. And then there are all the dynamics of of the Colonial Expansion and the extraction of wealth. That is a long and and complex story by itself. The big money developed the country but also dominated and controlled all aspects of industry. Superior education from the UK and Europe created a big advantage as well as disproportionate superior attitudes. The evaluation system was based on European values alone and had no space for African wisdom. The massive growth and development of Southern Africa from a totally rural environment into a developing country rolled over many things.
Love your video, been to SA several times in the last year. I have decided to move there for a few months from the US. I definitely have a few questions about dealing with banking. Glad to meet other expats living in SA. I am making Joburg suburbs my base. Still looking for accommodation, and I don't want to do Airbnb but that is my final option.
The water system is cracking up. It hasn't had much work done on it in the past 30 years. The infrastructure of the country is living on borrowed time.
Problems YES but nothing insurmountable. Overall best country to live in. My sister is a lecturer in Humberg, she lives in a so called apartment the size of bathroom.
Not exactly. European ethnicities and kingdoms, such as Prussian’s, were subsumed into greater Kingdoms like Germany. Up to this day, people in Cornwall consider themselves different from the English and Sicilians don’t consider themselves Italian. Africans need to stop being so sensitive about history - it happened to everyone at some point but some countries, 60 years after independence are still blaming colonialism.
Now that you had 30 years not being exploited, why doing so shitty? Do like Edi Amin and take all their stuff. See how Zimbabwe does now. Your analysis is crap.

Inequality root cause is by masive migration from african people to the south looking for a better life. A city can spring up over night. South Africa's borders are poreus. With influx of peple comes drugs, human traficking, fake branded goods, diseases etc. South Africa simply cannot accomodate the rest of Africa due to a limitation of resources such as water etc.
Mass migration is not the "root cause" of inequality. Please stop using populist arguments from the US about border patrol. "Build a Wall" mentality won't stop an aggressive capitalist regime from exploiting cheap labour or fix poor spatial planning. Regards.

I would say water quality is a bit better that the UK, where bittled water is mostly advised for one to be on the safe side.
The Sotho tribe not only limited to Lesotho, but also originate and occupy some parts of SA too.
Enjoyed this video! So informative ❤
So glad! 🤍
Yeah with loadshedding you can buy your own back ups but with the water shortages that something that's harder to avoid. I have to keep lots of 5 liter bottles stored. Also, always keeping water in your tub helps as well. In the future when I buy a house here the goal is to have my own electricity and water.
I’ve started to keep big water bottles as well, thanks for sharing 🫶🏽
There is no loadshedding in SA unless if you speak of the past
We have defeated loadshedding now we gonna have surplus in few months, Midrand has a stable water,
Milky water after maintenance is normal.
Try botswana, guns are not allowed there so crime is so low...

And there’s loads of videos on Nigeria and Kenya, but they aren’t as popular nomad/expat destinations which is what the video is about
I don't knw how I feel when I see dis kindnof statement....South African is not 30yrs...South Africa was built by colonization but became democracy 30yrs ago
Why are you lying? South Africa formally achieved its independence from Britain on May 31, 1910. General Louis Botha formed a government as prime minister on May 31, 1910. Just because indigenous Africans were treated like animals doesn't mean the country wasn't functioning as a country

Hello my love thank you for another insightful video, I am exploring Fourways apartments can you come up with a video that explores those ones?
Oh really? Okay maybe I’ll try it, but I’m scared 😅

What makes a country great is the people, not infrastructure.
I disagree, it is a combination of both !!
Statistically Black unemployment is at 34%
White unemployment is less than 2%.

Not more unequal than Venezuela, greater Russia, China, India. The difference is in some countries people work because there is work for them.
Wise and meaningful observations!!

Which countries are those?
saying Africans are "sensitive" about history is crazy given the wanton banning of black history books in the western world right now.

Regards.
