A true great film can be both over top and fun while hiding secret depth. I also believe that John Carpenter's The Thing meets this criteria. It's a suspenseful horror film that ask who can you really trust? Sorry for the tangent. Great video.
The Thing is a great case in pure paranoia and tension, while the original story predated the cold war and the cold war versions saw communists as the imposter, the Thing is decidedly more focused on its hostile isolated locale which i feel works quite well.
