@@DamnDealDone you don't understand song writing. It's not about how complex a riff is. It's about what suits the song. If you can do better, let's hear it
@@DamnDealDonesend us some songs you wrote? Would love to hear what you have that is better since your a god damn expert on the topic of song writing. I’ll be sure to comment on it. Send it our way !
@@user-tf3di8oq2l what suits the song? This song was based on the verse riff. That's what comes first in this type of music. The rest is built around it. It's not "played for the song", that makes no sense. It's a bit of a throwaway riff. Not bad but not really captivating. This genre is meant to have unique and original riffs that stand out. Certainly not what John Garcia's vocal's should be surfing over. He needs to find a guitarist that can come up with guitar parts that suit him better. I know because I've been making stoner rock since 1997. It has given me an idea though. I will make an album like this, with riffs and ideas I consider not good enough that I would usually not use. I might get popular doing that.
@@TiffanyPRS no thanks. I keep this account anonymous. I might ask Garcia to do the vocals on my next album though. He needs to sing over great guitar riffs. Not cliche & generic grooves. It's not creative or artistic in my opinion. Kyuss were. Unida were. Slo Burn was. Early Hermano was. Things you listened to on endless repeat. This does not compare in my opinion. The desire for me to hear this again, sadly isn't there.
I write riffs like this daily sat on my bed messing about then forget them and move on until I find the gold. The original riff that is like a discovery on the fret board. THIS isn't it. Stoner rock needs to be better, not generic.
@@lunasol3890 Sorry, but it's true. Stoner metal's bad influence on stoner rock. Go back to early Fu Manchu, Clutch, Monster Magnet, Kyuss, Masters Of Reality, Unida, Queens of the Stone Age. Each song is unique with a very distinct and catchy riff. It's undeniable that standards have slipped in the genre.

@@DB-ch2bg I do positive things for people all the time, often at my expense. I am also only expressing my opinion about a song in a genre I love, which I believe is also a positive thing. I feel we hit the peak of using an open note as a riff base which then goes directly into a two chord chorus, a long time ago. In my opinion, it's stale and over used. Art is subjective of course, but this is my opinion on said art which I am free to express. Maybe I do take it too seriously, maybe this internal stress is what causes my epilepsy. But the scene is now flooded with generic bands that are image over substance, making it more difficult to hold my opinions in. But I should concentrate on finishing my new album instead of criticising others. But it helps me form a deeper understanding of riff & song structure which can only improve my own work. Maybe it will help others too. Cheers.
