Unida - Last Day - HD with Lyrics - Stoner Rock

- This album has been surrounded by controversy for years, and the details are sketchy at best. Conflicting stories abound, to the extent that I don't even know if Scott Reeder is playing on this one or not. What I do know is that this album is among John Garcia's best work, and one of my all-time favorite rock records...even though it's never seen an official release. Super-producer Rick Rubin signed UNIDA to his American imprint, only to transfer the band's contract to Island/Def Jam before the album's release. Ironically, this was around the time that Garcia's ol' buddies in QUEENS OF THE STONE AGE were becoming mainstream mainstays, with many publications deeming them the saviors of rock n' roll. Had The Great Divide been released as scheduled, it would've gone head-to-head with QOTSA's Songs for the Deaf, and in the opinions of many fans, won. Songs for the Deaf was (and is still) a great record, but The Great Divide is truly classic. While UNIDA does recycle a couple of songs from their indie releases, that's not uncommon when jumping to the proverbial "big leagues", and in context of the LP as a whole, the songs fit perfectly. The production is top-notch. I put The Great Divide up there with the classic releases of KYUSS, though John Garcia has NEVER sounded better. When QOTSA were "bringing rock back", the K-word was on the lips of every rock fan, and they would've sought out John Garcia and UNIDA. I have no idea what goes on "behind the scenes", but I do wish Rick Rubin would've put HALF the effort into this project that he did Danzig and Johnny Cash. As it turns out, this is all we have of UNIDA (though the band did sell an abbreviated version of the album at shows called El Coyote). John Garcia went on to form HERMANO (which kicks ass) and The Great Divide was left to travel among our merry band of bootleggers. This wasn't the only time Rick Rubin dropped the ball, but we'll discuss the great FLIPPER another day.

Just found this today Jan 8 2023, this song is beyond beautiful. ❤❤
Eu encontrei Kyuss e o stoner rock em 2024. É surreal isso.
Yeah, that riff was from an old Across The River piece called "Mirage" that was only played once in 1986 that I reused for this one...
+Scott Reeder Amazing!
But how do we know. And if it's true thanks.... For every note. been really helpful. Now grab john and come play in Iowa we know it sucks but we gotta live here. Just asking kyuss lives to visit for 2 hrs.
Scott, I hope it's really you ..
I just wanna say thank you man .. I was so bored of everything I've heard in recent years and Kyuss was my gateway into a new found passion in music.
I was going through a hard time after a rough break up but Kyuss's music along with 'Unida' really got me through hard times, me and my pal both got into both Kyuss and Unida at the same time and hell man .. It's amazing, I maybe starting a band with my best friend.
I was terribly bored of the same metal songs and pop songs on the radio, I just want to say thank you man .. I love your bass lines and your style just works on so many levels.
Once again, thanks man!
Only recently myself found unida, Kyuss , sasquatch , etc., & its renewed my passion with rock/metal :]
Scott is the cat's bag
Probably the most epic and stunning song of stoner
John's voice breaks your heart to pieces and makes your soul fly far away.
Let's never forget the 90s. Those years...
This, ladies and gentlemen, is the f***in' holy grail of stoner rock.
Wow. I heard this on Radio Caprice's stoner rock channel. This song is bad ass and Garcia's vocals really compliment it
Garcia is everywhere, tell me where he is not!
Still sounds as fresh as the day it was recorded. Amazing! Also. Garcia is just the best...there's no reverb on the vocal....none...and he's just up there melting my face with his vox like it ain't shit. God damn!
The pinnacle of stoner rock ,sit back relax and listen the that sound.
Sometimes I feel so crappy that no music can do any help
but man... this thing... it's a therapy
TAKE ME TO THE DESERT. Leave me there with just this. just this. I do not need water.
Johns vocals nothing short of epic!
Fuck. I wish these guys were on Spotify or Amazon Music or something honestly
Quite simply one of the greatest songs ever written , it's that simple , this is on my " Songs to play at my funeral " list 👍👍👍👍
Thumbs up for the sentiment, not the funeral...though if you've had it by now, my condolences.
Such an epic song.
The ballad of the Apocalypse.
I just found this yesterday evening, im going to plug in myguitar and jam over it now.
He was just hiding
'Side of the road
Take with the fly high yeah
The love road
You hold your head so high
So much for the love
She was so blinded
Too far gone to know
'Cause if you believe
She's trying to conceive
If left it to me
Just to go on
To know
You're too much for the love
She was just building
She was going away
I take what the hell you really need babe
Take it far away
You didn't ask if you really need to
Up on the beauty hill
You shouldn't took the place for me
Well on that very last yeah, well on that very last yeah
'Cause if you believe
She was trying to conceive
You've left it to me
Just to go on
You're too much for the love
garcia is so much underated. ..unida should of been massive..... indeed yes Hermano were shit hot...never to late to release it proper. ..classics just live in time....
Out-fucking-standing Mr. Reeder!
unida really showcase that garcia wasnt just a frontman but could sing
4:13 Well on that very last, yeah
Amazing moment, it makes me chill
Somos la resistencia, en un mundo que poco a poco se pierde, un día todo cambiara. Mex-2019!
This bass line is totally Reeder. It sounds exactly like his style.
edd samson and Arthur’s lead is just sick!

This is amazing
Wow, I was not familiar with this. I love John Garcia's voice and that distinctive Kyuss grind.
Pretty certain Scott Reeder is playing on this, it's his tone, his style, even similiar riff to space cadet.
Bro, feel this in my bones.. wow
I've listened to this for three hours now and I can't stop. The raw emotions in the vocals, the searing solos and that fat bass line culminate to one of the absolute best stoner songs I've listened to all time. One of the best things I've ever come across, actually. I put this on the same shelf as Elder, Tool, Villagers of Ioannina City, Arenna etc. in terms of what this music lets me feel when listening to it.
Does anybody have recommendations as to what other song (or singer, band..) might come close to Garcias work in this piece? I'd highly appreciate it.
Oh, there's so much good stuff out there man! If you love this one, you should also love this one: ruclips.net/video/aADXzYWhiqQ/видео.html
#Garciasingslikeanangel
For me Dani (1000mods) gives the same raw feeling than early MASTER JG 💣❣

amazing!!
(TOO MUCH BEAUTY).
Duuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuude
Good summation Oluzo. All i can say is, i never liked QOTSA much because of Josh's Singing.
Now, had John G been the Vocalist they'd have been something else, but that could never have been.....
I only discovered KYUSS a year ago. So I was familiar with QOTSA from their start. Then began to connect dots with some of the members’ histories. Never cared for Queens, much, very commercial , plus I followed Brant Bjork’s path(KYUSS drummer, I mean exceptional drummer, who, I found out later, is a master of many instruments. I’m sure you have, but if you haven’t, check out his solo stuff, some is so, so, but most of it is fantastic. He teams up with John as VISTA CHINO, and I like it. Another band I discovered who were influenced by Sabbath and KYUSS, is “1000 MODS” a band out of Greece, who have pretty much became my favourite. Best described like, after listening to them, you’ll need some outside assistance to help pry yourself out of your seat(ie: “MIRRORS”).I would be very interested to know what you think of them. I’m very late to this party, but it’s hard finding people in my surroundings who are dedicated to their music, as you and others here are. Anyway, take it easy.
25 years ago we called it " desert rock" I don't even know any weed smokers who listen to john, kyuss, or similar bands... i don't knocaw what happened, i think people are enamored with drugs, if drugs can be incorporated into anything people will try and do it
Black sabbath planet caravan and Unida last day fuckings epics songs
Thanks for sharing the story and the song Luzifer Oluzo.
About the story: I also believe this would have been at least some commercial succes, because of what you have also explained. So that leaves me with a big question: Do Island/DefJam not like money? I can't understand anything.
Nothing before us existed
We need John Garcia and Mike Patton to do a project together
Maybe an official release of this record as well as other stuff is in the works?
The following from a recent interview with Arthur Seay from the Obelisk:
"But though there’s enough backstory to fill a book and then some, mostly it was the future that Seay wanted to talk about in our recent interview. New touring, new albums for both Unida and HoBP, and plans for things to come."
:=)
🤘😎

Weed!!!! LOVE TO WEED!!
The whole album exists bud....ive got it :)
I get now why it's called stoner rock xD
For Drew Minor!
As an ultimate die hard fan of Urban Coyote, I also dug what I could about this story. Divide was sssso anticipated and would have never even compared with the deaf egotripper's records. Sure josh made great things, the unmastered original version of their 1st album, and a few off their 3rd for instance. But I saw fame getting to his big head, to the point where he felt he had the right to kick front row photographers in the face while performing. That said, this song is awesome, but the whole record I thought was not Unida. The catchy songs and Rubin's vision, in my opinion, got them to lose grip on the magic they once had on the Split cd with Dozer, and the following Urban Coyote. They lost 35K in the process, and Hermano was a very tasteful next step for John. Sending Positive Vibrations your way man ☀️
The fn' ... MAn....yo john...bri
Hellyeah this song is fuckin awesome, shit hand me a pound o ' grass and put this full blast thats all i need to be happy!
One other thing...no Josh Hommes.
.
Do you guys know any similiar stuff to this particular song ? It`s not necessery for it to be stoner rock I rather want it to have such a "nocturnal", "cosmic" vibe.
+TheCrimsonBudgie Space Cadet performed by Kyuss
+Stanko Galac i forgot to mention that I know all stuff from Kyuss :P
Sleep, Pentagram, Spirit Caravan, The Obssessed, Buffalo, Masters Of Reality, Suplecs, Heavy Load, Witchfinder General, Angel Witch.
Want more?
@ew johns
I think he's looking for songs, not bands. lol
"Pull Me Under" by Saquatch maybe.
Kyuss in Chains
Fuck - where to buy the CD?
This song just reminds me of kyuss
You're too much for the LOAD.
too much for the load?
