I don't play sc trade anymore so I can't talk on the validity of subtractem builds but I do love his poe mechanics guides, they are much more in depth than ziz's which are also great.
the build is fine its nothing ground breaking pretty much just a standard ignite build, the drama was the pricing, especially since his builds are aimed at newer players

My god I like his builds but I dont like rue's personality. I mean if I was a new player I also would prefer Subtractum to Rue. If you care about getting new players good information just do it calm and a way where you dont insult them. It just looks like Rue is mad Subtractum is getting more cloud than him. Not defending Rue toxic behaviour, but he isnt falling out of relevancy at least for the time being. He is one of if not the best build creators in the community. The SST build last league was an insane hit and if you have played crucible league you would get what i mean. I get ruetoo's frustration with subtractem. He is not a very good player by any means in poe and still he poses as some authority on what builds are good or bad, what is worth your time farming, etc. First, rue could have said that in a calmer, more constructive way. Second, no new player is gonna listen to 30 minutes of pob talk, so they are gonna be stuck with content creators like subtractem no matter what because they pump out so much content. Its very clear that he thinks of poe content creation as a career, so no matter what he says about doing it to help out the community, he HAS to make videos almost every day, and they have to be about something, ofc he doesn't have time to come up with new tech.
Also, personally, i could not care less about wrong information in build guides. Any halfway decent build can be great with enough money and time. What I do have a problem with is misleading information about farming strategies. Like how he continually suggests expedition as this hyper efficient currency farmer even tho in a clip i heard him admit that he only made 150divs in the first week with it. With the hours he's playing, that comes out to less than 2 div/hour even excluding day1. And he does that with being fairly efficient at it, to me that doesnt sound like a fool proof strategy. He also suggests market dependant strategies with the full knowledge that the existence of the guide will break the market and give his viewers a bad experience. That doesnt sound like something a truly helpful person would do. A disclaimer is not enough as a content creator the size of subtractem, he has direct influence over people's experience and he should be accountable.
Lets be honest with Ruetoo. It was only a matter of time he got banned for something and only a matter of time before he gets banned for good. GGG doesn't want streamers attacking each other or GGG staff. You think that would be clear after POM. Subtractem creates builds that he'll play and iterate on over a league while saying repeatedly to his viewers that what he's doing is experimental and that it's okay to perfect it over time. This leads to him making builds that end up in different places, like Mathil in many ways. Ruetoo is mad about this, as he's gatekeeping this perfectionistic approach to build guide creation that he believes is the only way people should be recognized in the community for. IMHO there is a problem in the community with janky build baits being thrown around, BUT Subtractem is not one of those channels, his channel is meant to be a play along and enjoy the game experience. The problematic build guides come from RMT sites that flood the RUclips search results with terrible builds, and instead of rallying against this, Ruetoo is spreading these extremely vitriolic attacks against a creator he has a personal beef with for whatever reason. Not to mention he is attempting to grand stand by saying that his takes are specifically trying to bolster new player retention, as if the toxicity he's spreading would amount to any amount of positive enjoyment among a newer playerbase.

Just perma hear from rue, jung, ben, tuna etc. about how bad the PoE content creators on youtube are and how the builds are usually bad and bait. But they rarely create any accessible content pre-league regardless. Every league i gotta scout twitch vods and excel spreadsheets just to find a playable build. I'm sure theres at least like 20 more playable builds for early league start that for sure will not be faster than others, but newer or other players might be interested in playing but instead i search and find like 5 skills to play with every single league just because everything else doesnt kill ubers day 2.

I league started subtractem's fire trap frost blink build and it took me to red maps no problem, i farmed up enough currency with it for my second character. ruetoo is a manchild, hearing him talk is pure cringe honestly.. just because someone isnt creating perfect builds doesnt mean they arent fun to play or arent "viable". When it comes to prices, i crafted alot of the gear myself so it wasnt an issue whatsoever, but obviously prices will change from league to league and if a build becomes popular the prices go up, thats how it always has been.
I have visited Ruetoo's stream a few times and couldn't stay longer than 90 seconds. I get the sense that he has tried many things in life but could only succeed in PoE content. If you are efficient and you know what you are doing you can easily make 5-10div/h. If you are very fast and one of the earlierst for stuff like boss rushing, etc. you can make quite a bit more. If you make 7div/hour and a mirror is 150div you would need to farm for roughly 21hours. Since you are limited by time only the people that play a shitton will ever be rich in this game but if you assume you setup your vacation time to leaguestart and you are efficient you can level, get to maps and setup your strategy on day1 and on day3 if you play 12hours a day you can have your first mirror with realistic div/h for more efficient players. Now ofc that is completely impossible for casual or lets say normal player, not that many people are this fast and play for this amount of time. And not every player even if faster and more efficient can blast 12hours a day with full focus on their farming strat. But we are not talking if its easy or realistic for most, we are talking about if its possible or not. If you want to farm it in one week (assuming the mirror price did not go up by a lot, have not checked every single day early on) you can level and setup your shit on day 1 and after that if you farm 4hours per day efficiently with your strategy (again assuming 7div/h) you still have that 150div. I am a solo player that gets a mageblood week1 pretty much every league. The fastest I got my mageblood was after 3 days doing maven invitations and then maven farming (pre nerf tho). Mageblood is not a mirror but every time i checked when buying it was around 0,8mirror ish. So getting that 0,2 is not that far off.

Craft some trash that might sell for 1 div, put it in for 30 and get spam-whispered.

The profit is there but it's give or take 1-3 divs an hour. Yes its not a perfect build but it did get me to red maps without investing 10 divines or whatever people are saying. I managed to make enough currency to then make a wardloop build. So in my personal experience subtractems build was not a bait at all and did what it was advertised to do. When it comes to new players, they would probably struggle with almost any build anyway.

the way he presents his content isnt for noobs but his builds are definitely one of the best noob friendly builds that exist for both price point and power/QoL. Everything he recommends is always so solid that you don't have to worry whether or not it's a gamble. Meanwhile you get bait builds that people will follow and not reflect what is stated. My girl league started on his fire trap build and had a bad time and ultimately rerolled to my build. For her it takes around 10 hours to beat campaign and to spend more time into mapping just to reroll doesn't feel good for her. Not defending Rue toxic behaviour, but he isnt falling out of relevancy at least for the time being. He is one of if not the best build creators in the community. The SST build last league was an insane hit and if you have played crucible league you would get what i mean.
Sub on the otherhand, really good at explaining old stuff to the newbies but introducing nothing innovative.

I get ruetoo's frustration with subtractem. He is not a very good player by any means in poe and still he poses as some authority on what builds are good or bad, what is worth your time farming, etc. First, rue could have said that in a calmer, more constructive way. Second, no new player is gonna listen to 30 minutes of pob talk, so they are gonna be stuck with content creators like subtractem no matter what because they pump out so much content. Its very clear that he thinks of poe content creation as a career, so no matter what he says about doing it to help out the community, he HAS to make videos almost every day, and they have to be about something, ofc he doesn't have time to come up with new tech.
Also, personally, i could not care less about wrong information in build guides. Any halfway decent build can be great with enough money and time. What I do have a problem with is misleading information about farming strategies. Like how he continually suggests expedition as this hyper efficient currency farmer even tho in a clip i heard him admit that he only made 150divs in the first week with it. With the hours he's playing, that comes out to less than 2 div/hour even excluding day1. And he does that with being fairly efficient at it, to me that doesnt sound like a fool proof strategy. He also suggests market dependant strategies with the full knowledge that the existence of the guide will break the market and give his viewers a bad experience. That doesnt sound like something a truly helpful person would do. A disclaimer is not enough as a content creator the size of subtractem, he has direct influence over people's experience and he should be accountable.

Subtractem creates builds that he'll play and iterate on over a league while saying repeatedly to his viewers that what he's doing is experimental and that it's okay to perfect it over time. This leads to him making builds that end up in different places, like Mathil in many ways. Ruetoo is mad about this, as he's gatekeeping this perfectionistic approach to build guide creation that he believes is the only way people should be recognized in the community for. IMHO there is a problem in the community with janky build baits being thrown around, BUT Subtractem is not one of those channels, his channel is meant to be a play along and enjoy the game experience. The problematic build guides come from RMT sites that flood the RUclips search results with terrible builds, and instead of rallying against this, Ruetoo is spreading these extremely vitriolic attacks against a creator he has a personal beef with for whatever reason. Not to mention he is attempting to grand stand by saying that his takes are specifically trying to bolster new player retention, as if the toxicity he's spreading would amount to any amount of positive enjoyment among a newer playerbase.

But they rarely create any accessible content pre-league regardless. Every league i gotta scout twitch vods and excel spreadsheets just to find a playable build. I'm sure theres at least like 20 more playable builds for early league start that for sure will not be faster than others, but newer or other players might be interested in playing but instead i search and find like 5 skills to play with every single league just because everything else doesnt kill ubers day 2.

They are very new player friendly and easy to follow. Not sure why you want to gatekeep against something like that. I league started subtractem's fire trap frost blink build and it took me to red maps no problem, i farmed up enough currency with it for my second character. ruetoo is a manchild, hearing him talk is pure cringe honestly.. just because someone isnt creating perfect builds doesnt mean they arent fun to play or arent "viable". When it comes to prices, i crafted alot of the gear myself so it wasnt an issue whatsoever, but obviously prices will change from league to league and if a build becomes popular the prices go up, thats how it always has been.

I have visited Ruetoo's stream a few times and couldn't stay longer than 90 seconds. I get the sense that he has tried many things in life but could only succeed in PoE content. I mean, he's a genius when it come to builds but seems overly protective when someone invades his bubble since that's all he has. Subtractum is chill and I can watch his stream for hours. Something happened, where Ruetoo felt threatened, so he lashed out. This is all silly but I hope Ruetoo realizes that his timeout is an opportunity to reflect that the world is a bit bigger than PoE.

A mirror week1 is what about 100-150div I think.
If you are efficient and you know what you are doing you can easily make 5-10div/h. If you are very fast and one of the earlierst for stuff like boss rushing, etc. you can make quite a bit more.
If you make 7div/hour and a mirror is 150div you would need to farm for roughly 21hours. Since you are limited by time only the people that play a shitton will ever be rich in this game but if you assume you setup your vacation time to leaguestart and you are efficient you can level, get to maps and setup your strategy on day1 and on day3 if you play 12hours a day you can have your first mirror with realistic div/h for more efficient players.
Now ofc that is completely impossible for casual or lets say normal player, not that many people are this fast and play for this amount of time. And not every player even if faster and more efficient can blast 12hours a day with full focus on their farming strat.
But we are not talking if its easy or realistic for most, we are talking about if its possible or not.
If you want to farm it in one week (assuming the mirror price did not go up by a lot, have not checked every single day early on) you can level and setup your shit on day 1 and after that if you farm 4hours per day efficiently with your strategy (again assuming 7div/h) you still have that 150div.
I am a solo player that gets a mageblood week1 pretty much every league. The fastest I got my mageblood was after 3 days doing maven invitations and then maven farming (pre nerf tho). Mageblood is not a mirror but every time i checked when buying it was around 0,8mirror ish. So getting that 0,2 is not that far off.

I farmed Mageblood with logbooks. I know how to set them up to be as profitable as possible and ran Tujen. It was a 3 week, mindnumbing grind where the item kept getting more expensive the more I farmed. And that's one of the faster, more consistent farm methods.
Meanwhile what do streamers do? Craft some trash that might sell for 1 div, put it in for 30 and get spam-whispered.

The profit is there but it's give or take 1-3 divs an hour. It only makes a jump once you can run blight-ravaged with 3x teal oils, which can't be covered by towers anymore and requires a build that has high damage output of 10-20m+

@@notskrub7013 Ive league started that build and got it to red maps with mostly trash gear and essence crafted scepters without any issues. Yes its not a perfect build but it did get me to red maps without investing 10 divines or whatever people are saying. I managed to make enough currency to then make a wardloop build. So in my personal experience subtractems build was not a bait at all and did what it was advertised to do.
When it comes to new players, they would probably struggle with almost any build anyway.
