I started my son at 41/2 but he ran his first race at 5, he was a smooth driver with a great pattern, he went on to be a modified track champ at shadybowl speedway in ohio, at 18,
I started racing quarter midgets about 1965 thru 67,then half midgets till 70/71at track in akron oh track no longer exists its now an acme store,it's a shame cause I wanted put my own kids in it and a couple grandkids but no track.i myself took time off racing till 83 then started racing stock cars till 2002 then retired from racing altogether.but all the years I loved it.wish we could get another track again.
I was same way, went from novice to sr stock for 1 yr mandatory, then hvy mod, but stock taught me alot to run with older drivers and skills for me to win
Also at your home track weekly races not enough cars show for the hvy class so u mix with light class but juge them different lt and hvy finishes for points but one never carried the checked flag?
Why would a 14-17 year olds family be upset a 10-12 year old beat them? I would think it would be the other way around. The 10-12 year old is the one with the unfair disadvantage I would think due to age and skill level. We are doing an arrive and drive with our 7 year old next weekend. I’d hate to put him into a sport where he gets blasted for being competitive in a few years.
This is a wait your turn in line to win sport. Everyone wins and then they age out so the next can win. Don’t cut the line or have the younger ones beat the older ones or you are a cheater. Union shop. Wait your turn.

@@krybabyperformance6221 wow for such an American sport this is about the most un-American mindset imaginable
