I really like the idea of this camera. I work in tech and I'm constantly staring at a computer monitor or at my phone (like most of us do these days). I take a few hiking trips a year and I really liked the idea of a digital camera without a screen and being able to just stick my phone in my backpack not not take it out until I need it. I've had this camera for a few days now and it works pretty well for the price. That said I understand the limitations of it, because of the price. I tried to find something similar with a better sensor and lens but this seems to be the only product on market. I hope in the future, they'll consider making a version that costs a little more with better components. Outdoors with good lighting, this thing works great. Indoors though photos can come out blurry if you aren't very careful. I suppose I should try using the flash a bit more indoors.
There are alternatives for screen-less cameras. Buy an used DSLR and keep the screen at the back off except for going into the settings. You can just use the optical viewfinder and use them like 35mm SLRs. The quality of the shots will also be leaps and bounds above this. The main issue is size, and resisting the temptation to look at your shots on the fly. Even though I have a modern mirrorless camera, I sometimes take older DSLRs with me on hikes just for the optical viewfinder and the shooting experience it provides.
I have both, but I haven’t had a chance to test the new one yet. From what I can see on your video, the image quality and color gamut is improved for sure.
The standard filter has a greenish hue while the vintage filter looks like it has a standard color. I hope they adjust it correctly because im sure the files arent working as intended.
as far as a tripod mount for mounting accessories, maybe 3m tape or glue a cold shoe mount on the top. all i can imagine is a decent small/controllable LED light like what small rig or apeture makes to makeup for the built in weak flash power. great video as im glad ive been on the fence for these and of course they have an update. cheers!
i just received mine yesterday.. my only complaint is that it feels very light and cheap(im not saying it is) it just feels like a toy. edit: great review btw... thanks
I also saw that the new model is advertised as having a faster shutter than yje original. I have the older model and feel i need to stay still a bit longer after pressing the shutter.
Have you had any luck with getting the filters on the new version? I've followed the steps exactly but nothing happens, I don't get the '- - -' after I've dragged the filter files onto the camera :(
@@CoyoteEDCI get that but is it made specifically for/by camp snap or is it a generic product with the camp snap logo slapped onto it. Edit: in short did camp snap develop this product
@@DIAMCAT As far as I know, this product is unique to them, as in you won't find it on amazon or aliexpress under a dozen different brand names. It seems they have a run of the camera made, ship it to california, then from there sell it on their website.
I have both and don't know which to keep. I like the older version because of how the photos look.. little grainy, old. The 103 is definitely clearer than I would like but I love how fast it is. Help lol
Biggest problem with the older version is that it often had off-colors due to poor white balance choice, and it had a tendency to blow out highlights, especially the sky, because the dynamic range was so bad. Apparently, both of these have been improved on the new model. I think you can notice a bit the difference in dynamic range in the last comparison here, the spaces between the leaves tend to be pure white in the older model, whereas you can still see some detail in the newer model.
Thanks, I just got the 103B. How do you turn down the sharpness on this? It's way too sharp and ruins the photos. Also, is the vintage filter the default here? Thanks
The standard filter is the default. You could try the vintage or BW filter to see if the sharpening is any different. I havent had the chance to mess with the other filters yet.
I just got this version in the mail. The only issue I'm having right now is that the metadata always reverts the date and time back to factory defaults. I submitted an email to them just now, but maybe you know?
@@CoyoteEDC I charged it out of the box, added the date/time and took a few photos. Tested them on the computer and tried more photos and it keeps reverting. The metadata is always 1970
First thing I noticed was that the flash is different. I wonder what changed though hmm. Also, I like the photos on the 102 more in your comparison shots…. The 102 is like bad on purpose while the 103 is bad on accident? Idk
@@CoyoteEDC And also, can you please show some examples/comparisons with the black & white filter and vintage film style filter? Thanks for the wonderful video!
You can plug it into a computer with a USB C cable, or you can take the microSD card out and put it into a card reader or other device to get the pictures off the camera.

Excellent video! Thank for making it. I have the original camera... only purchased a few months ago... I may upgrade when I have the cash . Regards, C
I would absolutely want to put it on a tripod for some fun landscape photography.

Is this product drop shipped or does the company actually make it?

Could be anything from a software bug to a flash memory fault, even a loose soldier joint
I believe I got the model in between the two, paid $50 at urban outfitters
Can you do a tutorial for filter change someone it keep saying unsupported files for me

That’s the original 101 version of the camera. During the first release of the camera during kick starter.
There was camera version in between this
Does anyone know what the 90 means when you turn it on?
An educated guess would be the remaining battery life. Mine is at 100 now. Further testing needed.
could please upload a video with more sample photos for the new one. Thank you!

anyone else having issues with the filters not loading on the v103?
I haven't tried the filters on the new model yet!
I haven't figured out how to get the filters on to the camera either.
You may need to try the ones for the v103b
