Great content Chandler! One question I had that confuses me is that sometimes I see the defender staying just behind the block like Tyler did at 10:44 (great dig), but what's the reasoning behind this? Is this because the attacker going thumbs down towards the line from where the set is located, is a low percentage hit? Knowing myself I probably would've just stayed on the line and not get the dig so just curious.

A lot of times it’s tendencies. We thought the dude might error if having to tug it alllll the way to the line, and more likely to score thru/OT on the blocker. So letting Tyler roam seemed to be better percentages (in rhythm).
The other part to consider is the DEPTH at which the attacker is at. If they are broad jumping and contacting 4’ off the net, way more likely to hit towards sideline/angles. If from deeper or 10’+, really the only chance to score is with power, so way more likely to hit high/straight/more middle of the court.
I imagine if you watch this closely a few times you will see some moves based on repeat tendencies and others due to depth.
