This is great. Vietnam is on my bucket list. Wanna rent a motorbike and ride the whole length of the country. An epic road trip. A financial piece of advice: count your zeroes!😂
I bought a motorbike back in November 2022 in Hanoi. Now I'm in Cambodia and still with my bike ;) If u get the chance, do it. It's an amazing experience.
To vietnamese people, dong means dollar. When we talk about the price of something, we don't include "dong" in our conversation. For example: it costs 4 dollars For vietnamese people: it costs 40 thousands. We tend to leave the word "dong" out. And thousand(s) secretly becomes the name of the currency. Same rule goes for million(s) and billion(s).
One tip is that you should just remove 000 in your head. For example, just think the donuts costed 50. You gave her 100 then should expect to have 50 back 😂
Tip for crossing street in Vietnam: Many tourist foreigners scared of traffic in VN . Don’t worry about it! The rule to win this fear is keep routin slowly walking when you across the streams of motobike! -motobykers knows how to avoid you themself in chaos-order! remmember do not run and stop suddently , accident immidiatly ! Don’t be affraid off and do it if you want to be safety in the crazy- rule traffic in Vietnam.
Watching from Monterey County California thank you so much for all this information I hope I can visit Vietnam in the near future! More power to you and Deanna. God bless.🙏♥️🙏
OMG !! I'm Vietnamese and living in Ha Noi, I've watched and followed your videos for such a long time. Thanks to your channel I got interesting videos to enjoy and my English is improved so much, I always imagine and hope that you will come to Vietnam again to travel, to make videos some day and maybe... I'll have the opportunity to see you in person in Ha Noi at the same time. But perhaps I missed the opportunity to see you face to face T.T
it's easy! You can just apply for your Visa on Arrival in advance, and then show the paper to the immigration officer and he stamps your passport - very easy!
I don’t think so. It’s a valid question. You never know what you get when you apply. For golden week this year they gave me a 10 day visa a week late. Leaving me to just roam about HCMC and spend money for three days. A lot of travelers complain about this.
I been to Vietnam ion a cruise, and it was confusing, all the old Turkish Lira so confusing, also the Hungarian money was very confusing when we went last year
People say it would be too hard to use a currency like bitcoin since it's too hard to convert. Yet these people are using a currency with 6 and 7 zeros in it.
In Vietnam, nobody will use Vietnamese Dong to buy a brand new motorcycle or car. Even using a bank cheque to write a few hundred billion or a trillion Dong is also a hassle
I was told by my family in vietnam recently that the government is informing the people that if they want to keep tourism coming in they need to not rip people off and give the country a bad reputation or over time no one will come anymore and everyone will loose money/ business
VND it's very confusing for foreigners cuz if you want to be a REAL millionaire then you'll have to have above 1 mil USD and not VND :) But if you wanna be a billionaire in Viet Nam you'll need above 1 trillion VND and lots of cars.
My neighbour who came for vacation from Vietnam once gave me a 10,000 Dong note for my coin collection. I thought he was a millionaire back in Vietnam 😪
Haha i just left Hanoi Yesterday I went to an HSBC atm because with limits of only two or three million dong and the associated fees i found it a better deal than the vietnamese bank atms
Vietnam hasbecome my favourite country in Asia, for many reasons, but the main reason being, my girlfriend is Vietnamese, and she is by far, the best person I've ever met, very supportive, very kind and very caring, life since I met her became a lot easier and a lot less sad/stressful, there has been happening a lot in my life over the last few years, I think I haven't been this happy in years, the last time I was this happy, was surely like 11 years ago or something, anyway, she has for sure fixed my mild form of depression I still had for the past 2 years (I am now not at all sad) 6 years ago I did not think I would've made it this far, 6 years later, and I am still alive, and feeling better than ever
50 bowls of Pho for 1mill? nah, bowl of pho is like 50K so more like 20 bowls. However, the good shit is more like 60 to 70 a bowl so, 20 is the limit in terms of price to quality/quantity.
50000 vietnam dong for 1 bag of less than 10 cakes is a cut and slash, in Vietnam carrying street vendors in Hanoi at most is 30k 1 bag of cakes is not even 10.

Nice and instructive video, but I wish you had pronounced the word Dong correctly. I have lived here for almost 10 years now, and the word Dong, like many other Vietnamese words that end with 'ng,' is pronounced as if it had an 'mg' sound. Do the correct way of saying 'Dong' is 'Domg'.
Vietnam currency is one of the weakest in the world. The government continue to accumulate more debt and they print more money to pay off the debt therefore devalue the Dong.

Really love the way people around the world enjoy the life in our modest country. And it's hornor to say: Welcome back home! My friends

Great to see you back in Vietnam!! Love this video indeed!
Is it strange to see multiple videos where Drew proclaims his love of the dong?
Wow! Hanoi looks so lovely!! Such peaceful vibes for a bustling city
The only currency name capable of making me giggle like I'm still going through puberty
Great Video Drew..One Question......how difficult was immigration/customs? ❤❤💯💯Keep posting the good vibes!!!

"Handling my dong" I am not laughing I swear.
I would be so confused with the money in Vietnam.
I been to Vietnam ion a cruise, and it was confusing, all the old Turkish Lira so confusing, also the Hungarian money was very confusing when we went last year
yes , yes and yes!
I LOVE LOVE Vietnam! I have went 2 times, and actually came back 3 days ago. I’ve went to Hắn ơi, hồ chí mình , Đã nâng and went to Ba na hills!
Phõ soup is literally some of the best soup I’ve ever had in my life. I’d love to go to Vietnam and buy all the Phõ my American dollars can by. 🤤 🍜

"Handle the legendary Dong" 😂

That is true. Lots of people try to take advantage of tourists, so government has to jump in to protect the local tourist industry
Hi Drew I love to watch all your travels video . Hope to have a copy .God bless you always

@@wheeliebeast7679 hahaha. Well I wish I had come up with that line, and intend very much in stealing it and using it myself 🤣
Youre not welcomed here
amazing place vietnam
In Vietnam 🇻🇳 they don’t have 1 million dong Banknotes
I read that if you are earning 400 dollars / month you are amongst the top 20% earner in Vietnam
I live in Ho Chi Minh City and i very happy when some famous RUclipsr review my country
Whoa, the prices of goods are so cheap in this country.
This is similar to the Algerian Dinar currency
I'm Vietnamese and when I heard him say "the Vietnamese dong" I was like 🫣
That's not because of inflation yk
I don't understand how it was confusing buying those donuts when she spoke clear English and gave you the price and nothing about it was confusing
He He he said he was paying in DONGS😂😂😂🤪
Lol
I don't understand why they don't just switch currencies. Like turn 1,000 into 1 dong, or something.
It’s not that easy. We desire our cash bills without .000 like you stated but it has a lot of things to do with the government and the world bank
Haha i just left Hanoi Yesterday I went to an HSBC atm because with limits of only two or three million dong and the associated fees i found it a better deal than the vietnamese bank atms

As soon as I saw the title I knew. Yeah it’s annoying. Brazil used to be like this until they adjusted the real.
i never went to Brazil when the currency was inflated!
@@MoreTravelsWithDrewBinsky honestly I want to know about how you get your Vietnamese tourist visa. For me? It throws off any schedule. Just curious.
Yea I live in Vietnam
The more DONG the better 😅.
🤨

The correct term is "Dongs" because it's plural.
Dongs, Yuans, Yens, Wons, Ringgits
Dong means copper and copper has no plural form in English
Anyone commenting about tajikistan?
