You guys: I don’t know if you’ll remember this but I messaged you back in April. Im a brand new first time gardener. Well I have done it!! I have potatoes, tomatoes, green beans, yellow squash and cucumbers growing! (Just to make a few). I cannot thank you enough for your videos. ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Kim, a few years ago I was hearing people talk about taking cuttings and rooting this & that. One day while I was pruning a tomato plant I decided to see what would happen if I planted a sucker. Well, I cut the sucker off and just stuck it in a pot of soil in the shade, watered it and kept it damp and it wasn’t long at all until it started growing. This year I broke a tomato plant, I finally gave up on it comin back so I cut it into above the break, put it in a pot, now it has a tomato on it.
I would love to try this with my favorite cherry tomato here in VA, but it does not seem like there would be time. I added up the times you mention (7-10 days to root), “few” weeks inside, week to harden off. Feels like a stretch to think I could get tomatoes, but what the heck… I love an experiment. Going to do this today. 🤞🏻
Thanks for sharing. I did a cutting of a lemon boy tomato plant last year and it out-prouduced the original plant. Btw, where did you get your watering can from?
Great video! This year i cloned a purple cherry tomato called Midnight Snack...i soak the suckers in water overnight then plant in very moist potting soil. However i don't think i would use rooting hormone in the same year as harvest... not sure if that would be safe 🤔
Great information. However, I do things differently. I always cut from the Suckers, since they tend to grow on the main stem of the Tomato plant quickly. I only cut the Sucker on an angle, about 45 degrees, then i use CLEAN Wine Bottles. I then place the Cutting into the bottle with water that's been fortified with Organic Plant Food (About a TEASPOON) being sure to cut away lower leaves. After about EIGHT days, I get ROOTS. I don't bring them inside; I take them to the Northside of the House, OUT of direct Sunlight. I just keep the water changed and refreshed!!! Then after about 11 days, VIOLA!! I've got clones that are ready to plant into my Garden. I take some Grass clippings that are DRY and place the clippings into the Hole that I've dug for the CLONE about a foot deep. I also add MORE organic plant food that's a bit higher in Potassium.(Potash can help cut DOWN on transplant shock and will help Nurse the newly-planted Clone and give it the nutrients that it needs to recover more quickly) Everyone has their methods though!!! =) Still great information for the beginners and even the Intermediate Gardeners!! Try it out; it MIGHT give you some FREE plants that cost nothing but time!!
🙋♀️ Kim! 2 part question:... 1) I bought the "VermisTerra" 1 gallon, but it's not "Vitality " will it work the same? 2) When the VermisTerra arrived, it was under SERIOUS pressure, & expanded to the point that the 1 gallon container would not stand flat on a solid surface! 😲 It stunk - putrid like when we opened it... it's that right ? Is it ok to use? Or is it bad, and I wasted $50? (My last 16oz did not smell like that). TIA...

That works for vining squash and cucumbers too. I found that out by accident
Something so simple yet can save you so much time!
Sounds awesome Kim you just gave me a great idea on how to start my tomato plants for next gardening season 😊❤

Nothing wrong with different! Thanks for the great detail, too!! Brilliant, brilliant!! Kim
Kim you are awesome from backwoods NC ❤
My clones got powdery mildew and seem to be stunted, I'm so mad, lol. But I'll give them a few more weeks just in case they pull through.

Tomatoes air layer very easily I find it is way faster and better for the plant
Best thumbnail 😅
Thanks 🙏
What is the ‘vitality’ liquid that you use?
Is the root additive acquired humanely?
