Why are they so concerned about not being able to sell the cars and not be more concerned about all the information that was sucked out of the CDK database do you know how many people have bought in cars since 1982?
@@jasonlange6439 are you sure?
I looked it up. 10.
Just in: CDK will take by June 30th at earliest. CDK is paying the ransom. But CDK does not keep records of customer information. Their system has been locked by the attackers. If they ever want to be a company again they have two choices. 1)pay the ransom, back up your data (which if they had done this would not be an issue) and factory reset all computers before uploading the multi checked clean back up. 2). Factory reset all counters and build your software again from scratch.
To follow up the customer sensitive information is kept in the dealers CDK system. As an analogy, if Microsoft is hacked, and has been, everyone on Windows is now not also hacked. This will happen to us all. Back up nightly onto a hard drive that is kept in a fire safe. It did happen to me essentially. I lost all work I have ever done in my life. And it wasn’t that bad.
@@jasonlange6439says who?? They got hacked and ransom is being demanded. So of course the hackers have the data.
Well, I heard about this last week. Looks like it impacted me now and my local Dodge dealership service department. I had scheduled a brake service well over a month ago, and found out today that they can't do the service because they can't order the rotors and pads for my vehicle to perform the service. I've never trusted dealerships service departments in the past, but my local dealerships department is actually honest and earned my trust, so I feel bad for them as I know they are losing a bunch of business due to this hack.
Watch a couple youtube vids and go to the auto parts store. Brakes are completely do-able yourself.
@jlam3927 I've done my brakes own breaks for years, but I'm at the age where just don't feel like doing it anymore, lol! But due to this hickup, I think I'm going to take your advice and save a few hundred. They did quoted me about 1K to swap the 16 spark plugs on my Hemi, I laughed about that one and told them I would do it myself, which was $600 in labor which was insane. The brakes were high, too, but not as insane as the plugs. Again thanks again for giving the verbal kick in the ass, lol
@@ninova66 If it makes you feel any better I don't feel like doing it either. But I hate getting ripped off.
Same here with a Ford dealership. Dealers should have had a back up plan or a form of cyber security
Our systems are so vulnerable. You gotta be nuts to be in a self-driving car
Death trap
Electric cars need to be charged to open the door😂
They’re paying the ransom
Oh yeah. Heard they want $10 mil
This raises concerns for customers too I'm sure! What about digital data in vehicles? Every time I get a service loaner there's previous users info in it. That info doesn't even need to be hacked. IT'S RIGHT THERE!!! Literally anyone can get a access tot hat data.
This is why I quit IT.
Customers demand refunds for the paint protection and nitrogen filled tire scams that these dealers conned us out of.
Have you tried turning your computer off and back on?
Is that the button on the monitor?
I'm trying - I'm typing "O" "N". Nothing!
if only it were that easy, id have a job to come back to now. Please dont mock this. So many workers are impacted by this BS amd cant even go to work and get paid bc of this.
@@user-zl1fz4qm3f you want us to feel bad? Ripping us off for 4 years. Nope. Sorry.
@@user-zl1fz4qm3f ever heard of karma?
Of course they're gonna pay the ransom and they did. They have no choice because that's the only way out . And the only way to save themselves. For now. Whether or not CDK will survive this is another matter.
Good the scammers been over pricing cars for a while.
Car dealers should be ashamed for not having a back up plan or employing some type of security!
My GF got a message about service not being available at her Dealership here in Vegas Findlay has over 10 here alone,I told her freeze your credit this is the same people that took down the Casino's and the Dealership's don't care they're just getting more numbers for the hacker's....#GreedIsGood
Good to place a fraud alert on your credit report. I bought at Findlay in April. Suspect these hackers now have my info.
Yep. Findlay here in Idaho told everyone just stay home all this week…
Omg! Do you people not realize that this affects families in our nation! They have food to buy and rent! Maybe the negative comments will lead to some hardships for them
yes they hurt the people in the service department that have familiesl to feed and their bills it effecta every aspect of the dealerships.not just the sales dept.OMG!!!
Omg! Do you not realize that we need a recession to get prices down? Clown.
Tell the owner to pay you and not buy mansions
They went from selling no cars to not being able to sell cars. Huh !
funny how the highest paid workers can “wait” while the rest of us that get paid less who are affected as well cant.
Might have to go back to using the United States mail
They said they could do the deal, but they have to back and talk with the sales manager
I’m from California and I don’t give a crap about East Coast dealerships.!. I want to hear about our state of California dealerships.!. ☹️🤬👎🏽👎🏽
"ALOT OF CARS IN THE LAST 5 DAYS."
That statement should be double-checked by their back office board. Probably a lot sold was 1 - 4 a day.
Cox automotive.....they are allegedly doing the same in auto hauling. crash, consolidate, control
Here to read all the great comments how shoppers love buying from car dealerships.
Are we supposed to feel sorry for dealerships?!
Hundreds of thousands of service, sales and parts employees with families.
@@buckd2958 they should have thought of that before milking the consumer
@@JinNani224 mechanics, parts warehouse workers, office clerical workers, body shop employees milking the public????? You do understand the law of supply and demand in regards to sales don’t you? You do know the manufacturers are the ones making the suggested retail price that has climbed to the moon don’t you?
@@buckd2958 I understand that dealerships have taken advantage of people by “market adjustments” due to decreased supply. And in regards to all the workers, well dealers can give them a bigger cut rather than pocketing all the money they squeezed from the people
@@JinNani224you are a sad person, feel sorry for people like you.
If you had a Web3 address, you wouldn’t have this problem, and if you did, you would identify immediately where the attack came from
Not if it was Web3 that attacked you.
And if you identified the attack came from Russia or China what would you do? Call them and complain? (Not being a wise guy. I’m just wondering what the response is if your account gets hacked and your info/ money ends up in Russia.)
Zipper head employees on an unpatched workstation(s) is my guess. Recipe for disaster.
They paid the ransom.
i couldnt get my licsence plate on my new bike lmao.
The hackers are now scamming the real scammers. Well done, hackers! 👍
I pray this doest happen to you and your family.
Remember that the next time you go to buy a car
Crooks hacked crooks. I don't see the problem. Nothing to see here
Send me a truck
Nice news reports on reptiles.
