While I've always enjoyed and benefitted from your videos, your current series of Climbing the Rating Ladder has put you at the top of the list of my favorite chess content providers. I've learned a lot about the game through your slow and insightful explanations of your thought process as you proceed through each game. Thanks to you Nelson, this 73 year old dog is still learning new tricks. I thank you.
These videos are great! I have been struggling with my ratings(was at 585(went up and down), last week 612) and currently am 711. Thus 99 increase over 7 days! Hope to see 1000 soon.

@@Foriendly Okay, no problem! 👍🏼 Cool thought process. I actually don't understand russian, I use google translate. I know some russian speaking chess players, so I definitely think you can find people to become friends with in the russian speaking chess community. hello, ive found your channel to be the most helpful and most entertaining i know, and i was wondering if you have content on any other platforms. Keep up the good work
One thing that can be more fun is get a course and give it a quick read through nothing serious. Then just try it in your games. You might make lots of mistakes just remember them and look it up in your course later. You still learn some theory but its much less like homework
@@davidjames149 it just sucks having a way worse position in the first 10 moves just because you don’t know opening theory. And I’m not at a level where I’m good enough to always come back from that just through solid chess play
Kinda sad seeing the transition of the thumbnails but I know it gets more views so do you boss!! Just know your content is what we enjoy please don’t change when you get super super popular!!
@@markieljedrickfausto4832 exactly he’s doing it for views. My exact point lol. Just weird to see the transition. Hopefully Nelson stays humble and keeps the same demeanor and doesn’t fully sell out. (No hard feelings just being honest) but clearly for chasing a bag and being able to support his loved ones by all means I would do the same.
When I gave up competitive over-the-board chess many years ago, my rating was 1850. I never felt like a strong player. I now see all of these videos about people struggling to reach 1000 and I ask myself, has the Elo system suffered from 'inflation' such '1000 is the new 2000'?
Openings are important but not everything. I got away by playing the Irish gambit in rapid (15/10 games) against 1500s (I'm at a 1700); but, 50-60% of the time, either the opponent falls under attack or he consolidates into a winning position but then blunders.
The thumbnails are works of art

These tips are very handy. Like trading rooks on the opponent's back rank, instead of in my end of the board.
Best thumbnail ever😂😂👍☠️☠️

wow that’s solid progress bro
BRO THE THUMBNAIL IS THE FUNNIEST THING EVER 💀💀💀💀
I’m really enjoying this rating climb, thank you!
Nelson's response to blunders and mistakes is like when my dad me.
it's amazing when an 1100 plays like a 2200
@12:49: Instead of the blunder, black had g5 and then win the center pawn and black is a little better.
Your videos make my day better thank you so much ❤
Thankyou for showing the tips and methods to reaching 1150+. I used to be 800 and now I'm 1100!
Hands down has been the best chess video series - keep up the good work.
I usually blunders 1-2 times too, but my blunders are usually heavy pieces (queen/rook), I guess this is why I'm around 600-700 instead of 1100
It's likely. I'm nearly 1100 & I average 1/1.5 blunders per game. 👍
@josephsalmonnte4995,same but i usually blunder queen and bishop

I sacrificed a knight but skewer queen and rook once and got a brilliant move for it im rated 800 blitz

Honestly I love the thumbnail, it’s genius
I think he is trying the levy type of thumbnails those are very good thumbnails. I mean he did beat levy's dog bot lately

Yeah these goofy making faces for little children trend is very obnoxious, and kind of insulting to the audience.
Could you play the Czech Pirc defense some time?
you single handedly got me to 1400
