It isn't Verdi's or Brahms' Requiems. It is a challenge to sit in an audience and take it all in..much less be in the chorus. It is 20th century music... (Bernstein's.. CHICHESTER PSALMS...Hindemith's "When Lilacs Last." )She is more of a performer that moves on stage..standing still to sing seemed to "cage" her.
@@michaelellis8263 She might well try the Verdi Requiem which is in line with her current operatic repertoire , but she would not be vocally suited to the soprano's 'Ihr habt nun traurigkeit ' section in the Brahms Requiem. She doesn't look 'caged ' here , just standing still, poised and focussed musically on this section of Britten's oratorio. In opera we stand still sometimes too - even in the busiest stage production. My point is that Anna Netrebko is not associated with Britten's music in any way - it is far from her regular repertoire - yet she succeeds in capturing the style and spirit of the music . Britten had a very distinctive way of writing for the voice - highly individual and not like other 20th century composers. It has been good to hear your opinion.
Anna Netrebko has spoken of her love of Britten's music and I find that she has a sense of his musical style. She gives a committed performance.
Brava anche in Britten che esula dal suo repertorio.Ma e'cosi'brava e musicale da non temere sfide
