First released in 1959. Listen to the original studio version. Much slower tempo. Really sultry and mysterious. As good as recording and performance gets. This is a masterpiece.
David Warren Brubeck (/ˈbruːbɛk/; December 6, 1920 - December 5, 2012 was 91) was an American jazz pianist and composer. Often regarded as a foremost exponent of cool jazz, Brubeck's work is characterized by unusual time signatures and superimposing contrasting rhythms, meters, and tonalities. Time Out became Brubeck's highest-selling album, and the first jazz album to sell over one million copies
Paul Desmond, Sax., composed Take Five. It was the Dave Brubeck Quartet. Gene Wright, on Bass, Joe Morello, Drums.
Dig! It's 5/4...Take 5.
This is just one of the greatest things ever...Nobody will ever be this cool again...
My Dad turned me on to Dave Brubeck, not on purpose but he would listen to it on his old 8 track tape deck when I was a kid and I was like, what and who is that? Gets better as you age like fine wine.
Give yourself a treat and listen to all of Brubeck's albums, Time Out and Time Further Out. It's very cool to see you discovering music that grabbed me back in the day. You can spend days listening to nothing else.
You know you are really enjoying music when you know you’re enjoying it. I was about three years old when I first fell in love with this song. And I have loved it ever since. I am 61 years old.
Is that SCAD sign from Savannah? I live not too far from Savannah. This is one of my favorite songs. Erroll Garner was also a fabulous piano player back then.
For all your beautiful wishes same back to you Rick
Add Roland Kirk and John Coltrane along with Charlie Mingus and you will never look back
I am so delighted that you expanding your musical taste and knowledge. There is more to life than rap. Check out Miles Davis, Joey Alexander, Miles Davis, Chick Corea, Charley Parker

Joe Morello is an amazing drummer. The song is is in 5/4: played it twice in college, shit was hard; Morello makes it look easy ❤❤❤
You can count it : 1,2,3,4,5...a crazy ass time signature for Jazz. ❤
So pleased you're listening to this! My Dad & I just spoke about this very song! God Bless you and yours! 😊❤💞
@@Let_Jesus_Rescue_You I brought up Brubeck so much in college my Professor told me to stop lol I'm a trained Jazz Drummer: Seen Count Basie's Orchestra and Buddy Rich in my teens. Great experiences. ❤
Jazz, Brother Pryor, Babymetal, Iron Maiden, Lou Rawls, Earth,Wind and Fire, etc: you getting a quality entertainment education. Much love brother. ❤❤❤❤

Man, you have to listen more jazz. There is a song named “Now You Has Jazz” by Bring Crosby and Louis Armstrong (two jazz legends) That is basically a perfect introduction to jazz music. The video is on youtube in good quality, if you like to give it a chance you won’t regret it.
PS: Greetings from mexico❤
I listened to DB back in the 60s. TAKE 5, was a big hit back in the day.
You are now a jazz fan!
go and check it out!!
Song written by Paul Desmond.
Don't wait. Life is short. Good luck.
Here's a hint. Nearly all jazz is the fault of that piano player staying up all night.
watch how Dave on piano is watching sax playing; bc a band is "a unit;" well, back in 1964 bands were a big deal.......
Yeeeessss😎🎼
