What an amazing video!! I thoroughly enjoyed it. To keep me from completely climbing up the walls, from not being able to gig during these strange times we find ourselves in, I recently purchased a Focusrite Scarlett 2i2 bundle, which has pro Tools First. But being a total caveman regarding recording, I'm just muddling my way through at the moment. Recording from home, and the rest of the lads in the band recording in their own homes also. With dipping my toes into recording, it definitely has saved me from insanity!! One thing that jumped out at me in Michael's video was, when he said that some of the knobs on his units, he didn't actually know what they were about, so he just twiddled and turned them until he heard what was pleasing to his ear, which made me quite happy, because that's all I'm capable of doing at present. My biggest drawback on this recording journey is the fact that I'm half deaf (Well actually, probably more than half deaf) My better of the two ears isn't great to start with, and the only sole purpose in life for me for my right ear is, somewhere to hang my glasses on!!
Thank you for posting such an informative video. Just watching (And listening ) to what can be achieved was just amazing!! Blessings from Ireland.

35:50 I think Toontrack SD3 has the best drum replacement till date. It is the only plugin that detects drums using Machine learnt algorithm and then replaces it with, actual drum samples(great recordings, honestly), provided by Toontrack or 3rd party SDX or user selected samples. Yes, it's not cost effective but what it does is amazing.
But anyways, this year's #mixcon is just, great once again.

Of course it’s been a few years so now with my modern computer, I can run like eight instances of rebalance along with like 40 instances of other CPU heavy plug-ins, and my system handles it just fine which is insane

At 35:00 or so you could use Massey DRT to extract perfect kick and snare triggers from stereo drums. It has a learn function that profiles the part of the kit you want to identify for triggering and then you can also go through with a fine-tooth-comb perfecting any misstriggers before rendering. Much quicker than manually doing everything!
