During a US State Department press briefing on Wednesday, spokesperson Matthew Miller responded to a question about the majority of the Israeli Knesset voting against the recognition of a Palestinian state, saying that the US will continue to “pursue the establishment of an independent Palestinian state”.
He added that the US believes Palestinian statehood “is in Israel’s short, medium, and long-term security interest as well”.
