  • This video shows how to start and run a Farmall 560 Diesel. But I do not show how to use the TA and the headlights. The 560 Diesel is a very cold blooded tractor so when not ran for more than 30-40 minutes the glow plug has to be held on for about 60 seconds sometimes a little longer before you start it, even in hot weather. Thanks for Watching

There are times that she doesn’t even bother to turn over unless the glow plugs are on for a little while before hand.

Normal for a "la nova" style engine. A cust brought his 560 into shop, said he replaced both batteries, and now started super easy-no glow plugs! He was right. with 2 twelve volt batteries in series[instead of 2- 6 volt batteries] ,it started super fast and easy. we put 2 -6 volt batteries, and it started -normally. FYI

Just a suggestion. I'm asking if you could make a video on how to replace the oil and all filters.

The start up and idle definitely is from our 560 in the mod. You can hear the same little puff of air that is now fixed on the real one. Thanks for informing me!

She runs just fine. A good summer tractor. She runs the bean auger over the summer. Was on the corn auger few years back but little too much corn got dumped and she bogged down real hard. Has leaked a little oil since even after rebuild and major overhaul

Who cares. The IH 560 is considered to be the worst tractor ever made.

According to who? The main problem was the old M rear axle IH used the first year. They recalled all of them when the realized it wouldn’t hold up to the increased torque

Actually it's one of the best,,, the only thing that the engineers did wrong is not enough head bolts, in the diesels,, otherwise a great all round tractor,,,

My father and uncle both bought 560s early on. My uncle had his rear axle snap while cutting down alfalfa. IH covered and put an X on the serial number badge to show the axles we’re replaced. After my father replaced the head gasket once, they both moved to the green persuasion. I wasn’t around to hear the cussing, but I have a feeling they were not very happy. Worst ever made? …not sure about that, but the earlier models had some reliability issues. My great uncle has the last model year for the 560, and it’s still running today.

IH fixed the problems over 60 years ago. The 460 and 560 IH tractors earned great reputations after the problems were corrected.
