  • Revopoint kindly sent their Pop 3 3D scanner to review and this time I thought I'd scan things that you can find outdoors, out in the world using it's handheld mode and mobile phone app. The Pop 3 has a new feature that will let you scan full color, even in pitch black darkness. I also take a look at how to scan in desktop mode, while connected to a PC.
    In this video we'll do an unboxing, setup, and how to. The Pop3 is great for reverse engineering, copying things like minis or shoes and then printing them. It has really fine accuracy and precision at 0.05mm. The decent sized working distance is 150mm - 400mm

    Hello. Is the power of a mobile phone used to scan on the street? If so, how powerful does the device need to be?

    • @3DJapan
      @3DJapan  4 месяца назад

      I can't find any requirements but not very powerful. Most of the work is done in the scanner. You can look for the app Revo Scan in the Play Store or wherever you get apps to see details.

    How do you compare it to mini?
    I can't decide between the two!
    I like my scans to have more details and I think I should go with mini but I've heard that it has so much difficulties with medium objects. I'm going to scan small to medium objects and in my medium objects I'm going to need small details to reverse engineer.

      I think the Mini would be OK with medium objects but it would take longer since it has a smaller scan area. The Pop can also scan in low light and still get the color if that means anything to you.

    Trying to get a new scanner under 700. Mostly to scan people and smaller objects. Which scanner do you recommend? ( Im thinking pop 3 or an einstar) open to other ideas.

      The Pop 3 would be a good choice I think. The would be better with people but not as good for smaller objects. I like the Einstar but I just have a hard time recommending it since it requires a PC with a hefty graphics card for all scanning.

      @@3DJapan I have a PC with 4080, do you think it would be smarter to go einstar ?

    Have you used it any further? Would you still recommend the pop3 to someone looking to buy their first 3D scanner for hobbyist/small commercial usage? If you have a multicolor 3D printer such as the bambulab can it automatically 3D print the part in color?

    • @3DJapan
      @3DJapan  8 месяцев назад +1

      Absolutely I would recommend it. I don't have a Bambu so I can't say for sure. But I don't think it will be automatic. I believe you have to paint the colors you want on it in the slicer. For full color you might have to send it to a service like Shapeways to be printed.

    How large can you scan? Can you scan an entire house or a warehouse?

    • @3DJapan
      @3DJapan  8 месяцев назад +1

      As long as you don't run out of power or storage. So with a laptop and a big battery you could do a warehouse. Though the Revopoint Range would be faster and honestly I think photogrammetry with a normal camera and software like Reality Capture would be the best option.
