    Great video and exactly what I was thinking, but I do not have the equipment or ability to make the step washers and weld them in. Do you sell just the weld washers as a kit so I can have the holes drilled and reamed to size and installed locally?

    • @zmotorsports62
      @zmotorsports62  Год назад +1

      I'm sorry, I don't offer these as I generally just machine them as needed and specific to the size of the hole required. I like a tight fitment so I machine the weld washer after reaming the hole needed and can get an accurate measurement.
      I feel this is the best way to repair these elongated holes short of cutting the brackets off and replacing with thicker brackets.
      Thank you for taking the time you watch.

      @@zmotorsports62 Thanks for the quick response. May I ask what material spec you use for the weld washer?

    • @zmotorsports62
      @zmotorsports62  Год назад

      For that particular job I used some 1045 steel. 1045 machines nicely and has good weldability and with the extra carbon will have excellent durability and longevity compared to say standard 1018 or 1020 material..
      I have also used some 8620 for things like hitch hole repairs that works excellent but is a bit more pricey.

    I have that issue by mine is the bracket on the axle. This idea looks really good but how would you get the back one welded on the rear of the axle track bar bracket, could get it to work on the front, easy access to get to it.

    • @zmotorsports62
      @zmotorsports62  Год назад +1

      The rear one at the axle end is the hardest to access if the bracket is stock. It can be done but I don't weld around the full perimeter of the weld washer. I machine it for a tight fit and stitch weld it the best I can which is probably about 60-70 percent of the perimeter. Once assembled and bolted it doesn't go anywhere and as long as it's a tight fit it won't wear the hole out again.
      To be honest if the Jeep is lifted this is where I also highly recommend to me clients that we replace the thin OEM axle bracket with a beefier bracket. The stresses placed on the stock bracket when the suspension is much more than the OEM brackets were designed to handle so a nice 1/4" thick plate bracket solves the issue for good.
      Thanks for taking the time to watch.

      @@zmotorsports62 I was looking to machine them tight as well. Since the bolt needs to be torqued to 125 foot lbs, if not welded would the shoulder washer still remain in place? I am guess need to drill 3/4 hole in bracket, and machine bolt hole to 9/16, and guessing 1" to 1 1/4" diameter stock to make it out of

      Yes, that should work perfectly.

      @@zmotorsports62 Is there a specific product you recommend specifically for the bracket upgrade? I have been fighting this elongated axle hole problem for years on my jeep Xj and I'm honestly fed up with it!

      If you're taking aftermarket brackets, I have used both Artec Industries and Synergy with great results over the years.

    Where can i get the washers or can you make me 4 of them that i can buy

    • @zmotorsports62
      @zmotorsports62  11 месяцев назад +1

      I think if you Google "weld washers" you should get some hits as there are several companies that mass produce them for sale. I machine them specifically for each job I'm doing and don't have a supply of them.
      Thank you for watching.

      @zmotorsports62 thanks it. You could definitely patent your design because I'm sure it will continue to be a problem. I would definitely buy from you

      Thank you. Yeah, it's definitely a problem on Jeeps. I've done a lot of them and seen a lot more that were ovaled out. If I had the time or specialized it might be something to consider. However, I work on such a wide variety of things it's hard to specialize in just one or even in one line of vehicles. I appreciate the comments and thank you very much for watching.

    How much would you charge to machine two for me.

      Sorry, there are so many variables that I only machine these as I need them specifically for vehicles I'm personally working on.
