Drove Uber for 3 months. 90% of the people behave absolutely disgusting. A friend of mine was reported for trying to kiss a passenger and charges were pressed on him. He was recording the entire thing, she kept tickling his ear while driving and he told her to get out. She retaliated because she was rejected. He's pressing charges because she could've ruined his life and marriage by a lie that most people will not think twice but believe immediately.

Well he probably doesn’t stream the regular folk and there are endless terrible people.
In my 9 months of driving for Lyft I had exactly this conversation multiple times. I cancelled many people mid-ride over inappropriate behaviour; from vomiting to refusing to give me a destination address and then not paying attention to where we were to just being hostile and belligerent to demanding that I break the law for them. So, these conversations DO happen and she is the demographic that commits the majority (in my experience) of these problems: oblivious, entitled, and demanding.

PLUS there is a written code of conduct for BOTH drivers and passengers and either party has the right to end a ride at any time if they believe it is necessary to do so. Each party can contact the company and state their case and the company will decide about payments or the withholding of payments. Which, in my experience, was handled fairly and appropriately.
If that constitutes thievery in your view and you have never driven for one of these services your opinion is welcome but to me is entirely irrelevant and dismissible.

I am an Uber driver and have at times kicked trash out of my vehicle. If drivers are afraid to do the right thing, riders will continue to abuse us.
You are right. I drove a taxi and if I did not want the passenger in my taxi then I would kick them out. It's for the drivers safety. The driver has the right to refuse service if they want. Just like if an airline pilot wants you off the plane you have to leave. It's for safety.
Can you be liable if the person gets hurt by being kicked off in an unsafe area? I drove a bus and you had to be dropped at stops. You could kick somebody out, but it would have to be at an approved stop. I could understand if you are in danger, but it would seem a better policy to call the b authorities.

@@valetineinc Service wasn't refused, it was discontinued. You can't always stop. For a more extreme example, if somebody is getting a heart transplant and the surgeon notices a swastica tattoo, they can't just stop. Obviously, that scenario is different, but the comparison to endangering a person's life by stopping is consistent.

One of my coworkers was held up, he complied fave over the money and still was stabbed to death. It was a very sad time. After that the other drivers of the taxi company held a meeting, we decided to each carry a gun for our protection. The owners were in the meeting and approved our choice. We didn't have a problem after. The murders were cought and we're punished.
If I was an Uber Driver, and someone cancelled their ride in the middle of the route, I’ll just pull over and say “The reason why I stopped and pulled over, it’s because I am seeing that you have cancelled the ride, if you want to continue with your destination, you must purchase back the amount of what you have purchased, if regretting to purchase back, you will no longer ride in my car, any regretful of exiting my vehicle without purchase will get documented, and be reported to the county police department for ride without purchase on a public paying transportation”
If a passenger still refuses, and acts aggressively, I’ll save the footage, and view it to the police department, I don’t play around, but being professional
