The Biography of General Sir John Lionel Kotelawala, ශ්‍රිමත් ජෝන් ලයනල් කොතලාවල මැතිඳුන් ගේ ජීවිත කතාව
1931 වසරේ සර්වජන ජන්ද බලය හිමි වු පළමු අවස්ථාවේ දිම කුරුණැගල මන්ත්‍රිවරයා ලෙස මෙතුමා තේරි පත් විය. 1939 මැතිවරණයෙන් පසු මං මාවත් හා ප්‍රසිද්ධ කර්මාන්ත ඇමතිවරයා ලෙස කටයුතු කළේය. ණය දෙන සමුපකාර සිමිති ඇරඹිම, ඉඩම් ලබා දිම, දුෂ්කර ප්‍රදේශවලට මාර්ග ලබා දීම,පේරාදෙණිය විශ්ව විද්‍යාලය ඇරඹිම යන කටයුතුවල දී මෙතුමා පුරෝගාමි මෙහෙවරක් ඉටු කළේය.1953ඩබ්ලිව්.සේනානායක මහතා අගමැති තනතුරින් ඉල්ලා අස්විමෙන් පසු 1953 ඔක්තෝබර් 12 දා සිට 1956 දක්වා එම නතතුරේ කටයුතු කරමින් විශාල මෙහෙවරක් ඉටු කළය ජෝන් කොතලාවල මැතිතුමා අභාවප්‍රාන්ත වුයේ 1980 ඔක්තොම්බර් 02 වැනිදාය.

General Sir John Lionel Kotelawala CH KBE KStJ PC (Sinhala: ශ්‍රිමත් ජෝන් ලයනල් කොතලාවල; 4 April 1897 - 2 October 1980) was a Sri Lankan statesman, most notable as the 3rd Prime Minister of Ceylon (Sri Lanka) from 1953 to 1956.
Born to a wealthy landholding and mining family, Kotelawala had a difficult childhood with the suicide of his father and financial difficulties that followed. He was educated at Royal College, Colombo and Christ's College, Cambridge before returning to become a planter and run the family estates and mines. Kotelawala joined the as an volunteer officer in Ceylon Defense Force in 1922. Being from a politically active family, he entered mainstream politics in 1931 having been elected to the State Council of Ceylon. He went on to serve as Minister of Communications and Works in the Second Board of Ministers of Ceylon. Having served as the commanding officer of the Ceylon Light Infantry, he transferred to the reserve with the rank of colonel in 1942.
