4L with rear diff lock and it would be moving great. Also A trac. Many FJ you can do A trac and rear diff at same time which locks the rear and puts the power away from the spinning front left he had.
We ran this in the ice and snow March 2015, group of 4 FJs. Good times.. 3 had a decent lift, 1 was stock. Had to use a winch 3 times, I somehow made it through.
The problem isnt the IFS.. its simply a clearance problem. A bone stock JK wouldnt have done much better. A 3 inch lift and some 33 inch tires, and that Fj would cruise right through that. Id love to run that rail sometime in my FJ
The IFS is a bit of a hang up but considering this is a stock truck(I am sure a lot of stock jeeps have some difficulty with this trail) an he didn't even have the rear locked till over half way through I believe it did just fine.
Fire the spotter! If you have to backup more than once, then the SPOTTER is the problem. Should have navigated the whole thing without backing up once.
Terrible spotting and throttle control. And please , Always lock your diff when navigating through obstacles like that one smh . I rarely use my front diff lock.. just rear locker, ATrac , steady gas with left foot putting a little pressure on breaks...
👍👍👍🙏🏻...Rock Crawling Adventure..👍😀🙏🏻

there are too many people giving this guy orders, should only be one
This should be titled : Thrashing a 2012 FJ Cruiser
The guy didn't have his rear locker on. His spotter at some point in reply said, yes turn it all on. After that he stopped having issues.
He had no business on that trail in stock condition, I would even take that trail on with 285' & 3" Lift
Just maybe if he were a better driver. But yeah, that’s crazy. It was probably a loooooong day.

Only jeep guys saying the FJ is no good

this is why you don't see many FJ's rock crawling !

He may have full belly skids!

Could have engaged A-Trac which works like a front locker.
NOT SO GOOD WITH ROCKS, JK IS THE WAY BETTER
