    Thank you so much for these suggestions. I’ve been dealing with a herniated l5-s1 since 2017. I was only 27 years old when it happened. Had a laser surgery done in 2018 that did not correct the problem. I began trying things on my own. Inversion has been helpful. But unfortunately I work a very physical job with also a lot of driving and it’s been becoming increasingly difficult to keep the sciatica at bay. I’ve been dealing with major depression because of it. I’m hopeful that some of these techniques will help. Thanks again!

      How are you now? I’ve been going through this for 5 years now. Starting with a 21mm disc herniation at the L5-S1 & annual tear in 2019. Just had another flare up this past month. Trying to get the sciatic nerve pain out of the leg thigh and hip. Walking doesn't bother me at all, it's the sitting (sometimes standing) when I feel the nerve sciatic nerve pain/aches. I still believe I can beat this.

    I am in Southern California (35 years old) experiencing sciatica for the first time in my life. It’s been going on for about 2 weeks now.
    I am trying to locate the root cause of my pain. Are there any more tips for self diagnosing root causes of sciatica at home?

    Omg. You guys are driving me nuts. Other videos say you should lay on your back and also do the cobra pose to take pressure off your back. Now you're saying not to do that.

      ​@@gohlayching5283 listen to your body. From what I've read doing the cobra and things like that depend on the type of herniation you have.
      To me it doesn't make sense doing the cobra as it's compressing the disc ..and although you may have reduced flexibility I don't think that's the issue here. The way I see it, moving your spine the least possible will help it heal.
      If you don't have a fisio to talk about your specific case, just do the exercises which are recommended by everyone for every case.
      The one I've found on every channel is the glute bridge as it works both abs and glutes if you do it correctly in such a comfortable and safe way. So I'm just concentrating on building up my abs and glutes with that ATM.
      There are a couple of other channels I like but I'm sticking with this guy's recommendations as they make me.feel good and make sense 😊

      Hello, Duke! This is a great question and it's one that comes up often. We understand how frustrating it can be with all the information that is out there. It can be overwhelming and oftentimes contradictory. One thing to consider is that at El Paso Manual Physical Therapy we specialize in helping people avoid unnecessary injections & surgery while traditional physical therapy tends to focus on healing post surgery. Because of this, the information we provide will be different versus traditional physical therapy advice. Also, everyone's body composition is different so what works for one person may not work for another. What's important is finding options that work for you as you know your body better than anyone. In order to find a solution you may need to try different techniques and exercises that you find beneficial.
